Quality of rooms and bathrooms and public areas along with friendly staff good food
Beautiful hotel in a beautiful location, friendly and accommodating staff, lovely rooms and delicious breakfast. Just wish that we could have had an evening meal but unfortunately we arrived too late. I would highly recommend this hotel
As a Hotel and the breakfast was excellent.
The lunch and the evening meal was very poor.
A classic country house hotel in beautiful gardens yet only a short drive to the seaside and the moors.
Some refurbishment yet to be done.
Staff excellent. Food good. Location wonderful. Large comfortable bed.
Limited menu choice. Prices high. Cost of room was high for what you got. Bathroom small, nowhere to hang towels for 2 adults. Small unheated towel rail 2ft. from floor. Hot water took 3 mins. to reach tap and shower. Room heating was limited to a single electric heater. TV did not function correctly.
Lovely old gothic mansion room nicely decorated nice to see a deer roaming round on the lawn while eating breakfast. And breakfast was lovely.
There was a constant humming noise like a extracter fan or a water tank filling up drove us mad. And the vegetarian meal in the resteraunt was diabolical I got pasta in mediterainian sauce which was a whopping £22.50 for two courses & it was under cooked. Its something I would russel up in 20 mins on a teatime! But that was my only option I was very disappointed as I really wanted to love this place as it should be.
Location and grounds. Breakfast Wife liked fine dining menu but not my preference. Workmen on roof but informed not a problem to us . Good check out times Taxi called at our request (£8.50) . To scarborough the same back tp hotel
Signage on main road from scarborough direction good. Missed it from whitby direction if any. Also sign at gateway obscured by tree branches. System for recording evening meals caused us not to be booked in as requested on second night and booked in when not requested on third night.
The staff were almost all excellent, the food was amazing. Lovely setting and so wonderfully quiet.
One member of staff (not certain of her position) was not at all welcoming and her appearance was quite unkempt. The cost was expensive for the room we were given,a small attic room with a low ceiling. Disappointed really and would be reluctant to return because of this reason.
quiet location, comfortable bed
amateur staff Poor finishing in the deluxe room - cheap fixtures and fittings dressed up to try to look high end Quality of the produce at breakfast was very poor
Friendly staff, large rooms, good breakfast, lovely grounds.
Room 21 at the top of the house has no views and involves a long climb; should be discounted.
The building outside and gardens. Good water pressure in shower but in middle of shower and water went cold.
Bedroom very cheap, cheap mattress, cheap bedding, cheap and horrible headboard, horrible pillows, bathroom u had u squeeze to get thru a door 50cm wide, toilet was in tight squeeze with sink. Bedroom wasnt clean. Dinner cost a fortune for what it was, had a tournedos rossini and it was horrible with the pig liver all over it, my partner had a veil t bone but they forgot the tbone. Wine was cheap, Scallops for starter were overdone. Breakfast was dreadful, not many options, coffee tasted vile, orange juice was just concentrate, yoghurt tasted horrible, asdas cheapest price taste better. Went to reception to complain about room and the amazingly sarcastic attendant didnt attend the "helpful and cordial" school. A shame everything about hotel. In our way in reception was empty so we had to ring the bell and a gentleman wearing tshirt shirts and flipflops came around to greet us and of course get the payment. Do not recommend to anyone.
Beautiful hotel, very comfortable and stylish. The breakfasts were excellent.
We were not very impressed with one member of staff (a young barman) who took our food and drinks order in the bar. He was very impatient with us and seemed disinterested and irritated. The other members of staff were all lovely, so he really lets the team down.
Main dining and living areas were beautiful and comfortable. The food for breakfast and dinner was fabulous!
Our room was so out if date...the website really really misled me.
Beautiful hotel and good location, lovely gardens and attentive staff.
Dated room and bathroom that need major upgrading and refurbishing. Overpriced.
Very Traditional excellent style
Beautiful property in lovely grounds. The hotel has been renovated to a very high standard. We stayed in room 20. Impeccable customer service. We highly recommend this hotel!
As stated in your information the hotel in its present format is in a state of "work in progress" and to this end room 2 was in need of some attention but this did not deter from the standard set. The room was of adequate size, clean and comfortable
The food was very good the location excellent quite grand, staff pleasant, lovely view from room
Toiletries not replenished enough, the little things that you look forward to we're not forthcoming. Problem with toilet, did not flush, water running all night, downstairs loo not very clean, all in all quite disappointing
A friendly and relaxed atmosphere with a feeling of being a genuine guest rather than a customer.
Nothing to dislike.
Very traditional, lovely country house hotel. Excellent breakfast. Beautiful grounds.
Would have like a pool, but I believe one is planned to be built.
Location, garden, food.
Toilet broke. Repaired and then broke again. No Wifi signal in bedroom. TV signal intermittent. Not possible to turn bedside lights off without getting out of bed. This was not £190 per night value.
Staff-excellent, nothing too much trouble & very professional Location-idyllic & peaceful Food-supreme, especially the breakfasts Atmosphere-calming & yet grand without being pretentious
Bedroom 11- no view except 3 walls. Very small with no seating area No shelving area in the shower room. Not sure, but it feels like this room may be above the kitchen as there is a constant smell of food & the room is unbearably hot. The price for this room is the same as any other standard room which look far superior. If you wanted us to get out & about...you did a good job!
Fabulous location and marvellous setting which is a good alternative to traditional hotels in centre of Scarborough. Good location for exploring the area. Staff generally friendly and helpful. Only had breakfast in the restaurant which was good with good selection and well cooked and presented.
Hotel in serious need of refurbishment - there are signs this is happening but no concerted effort to get it all done anytime soon. Carpets are threadbare, many narrow corridors and stairs to reach the rooms. Not the cleanest hotel we have stayed in. The bar is like a 'morgue' but there is a good pub in the village (walking distance) serving proper beer!
Set in beautiful grounds beautiful grand house good breakfast
Such a shame hotel let itself down on cleanliness. Cobwebs in bedroom, bath not cleaned properly. Lovely conservatory but unable to sit and relax because there were dead flies all over the place such a shame. Somebody needs to sort out the housekeeping.
