The Wroxeter Hotel  

Beautiful location - ideally situated for exploring Wroxeter itself, plus Shrewsbury, Morville and Ironbridge.

Poor soundproofing: the party on Saturday night was very noisy, and later guests returning to rooms banged doors and their loud talking into the small hours (after 1 o'clock) kept me awake.

I booked this hotel as a Christmas gift for my parents. My mother is disabled and wheelchair bound and we always have difficulty in finding a suitable venue with adequate wheelchair access and disabled facilities - ie. appropriate bathroom arrangements. This hotel was perfect with a ground floor room large enough for the manouvreability of the wheelchair and, what was most important, a wet room which made all the difference to the comfort of their stay. The location is beautiful; the food amazing and the staff could not do enough for my parents and they could not fault they stay. They would return anytime and recommend the Wroxeter Hotel to anyone wishing to have an escape to the Shropshire countryside.

Location. Central for the Salop hills, Ludlow, Iron Bridge museums, Roman ruins. Easy to get to, but in the middle of some beautiful countryside.

We only stayed one night for a specific function. This is hardly long enough to make sufficiently valid comments. However, the car-parking was excellent. The staff also helpful beyond the call of duty in assisting with our luggage.

The lighting in the bedroom was insufficient to read by - the bedside lamp didn't appear to have a switch. The bar was very crowded -- perhaps inevitable -- and there was hardly any seating.

Overall, this is a friendly and relaxing place to stay, but they need to raise their game, particularly during busy periods. The rooms are of a good size and well equipped, providing a good base to tour Shrewsbury and the surrounding glorious Shropshire countryside. The reception staff are effecient and friendly, and make up for the niggling things which should not occur at a hotel of this quality.

Really need to pay attention to the servicing of the rooms prior to guest arrival. Our basin and toilet had not received a good clean, and had obviously not been checked by management. In one room our party occupied, there was no hot water. Luckily, the hotel had received a cancellation and they were able to switch rooms. Our bathroom was quickly cleaned on request, however. The reception staff are friendly and effecient, but were under pressure during breakfast as they had to serve this as well; the bagel seemed to have just come out of the freezer and was unedible.

This hotel is just a few kilometres from the bustling town of Shewsbury. We were impressed by the quiet and tranquil setting of the Wroxeter Hotel and its 'country' atmosphere. While this hotel does not offer high end luxury, it certainly provided us with good, clean accommodation at a very reasonable price. We were travelling with our adult daughter and they were able to provide a comfortable family suite which had the added advantage of overlooking a beautiful rural setting. The receptionist on the front desk was delightful, offering to go that bit extra by printing out maps and directions to and from Shewsbury and delivering them to our room. Breakfast was served in a pleasant dining room with cereals and full English Breakfast.

While breakfast was more than acceptable, we would have appreciated some fresh or stewed fruit. The Wroxeter hosts functions, such as weddings. There was one the night we stayed and music could be heard till midnight. This did not bother us as it was perfectly quiet after this when we were ready to sleep. We were not at all disturbed by the noise of guests at the hotel.

I can thoroughly recommend this Hotel. It was clean, comfortable, and situated in an excellent position. The staff were friendly, efficient and knowledgable of the surrounding area. The available menus were varied and cooked to perfection. A very enjoyable stay.

A very well kept hotel standing in lovely grounds with good outside space in which to relax. Rooms were comfortable and very clean with tea/coffee making facilities, TV and free wifi. Staff were efficient and very friendly, The food was excellent, breakfast was top class with a good choice. A pleasant bar offered good bar food and the restaurant was excellent value with a wide menu. The thing that set this hotel apart was the little extras that have gone missing from many hotels, good quality products in the bathroom, plenty of quality choice in tea/coffee and hot chocolate in the room, plenty of fluffy towels, iron and board. Nothing was skimped on. A excellent hotel and an ideal base for exploring beautiful Shropshire.
