Just a one night stay but experience points to furthet bookings.Helpful staff.Surprisingly quiet location despite busy road.
No problems during a short stay.
Our main criterion was value for money. So we weren't expecting much, but were pleasantly surprised by the large room and excellent breakfast-full english served fresh and plenty of it. The hosts were attentive to our requirements and made good conversation.
Mattress was thin. There was an unsightly patch on one of the walls that needed redecoration. Basic old style mini tv, hooked up to a free channel unit. You could access the main channels, but most channels were unobtainable. No free biscuits. My wife says the shower head unit was not clean.
The staff were very welcoming, the room was clean, warm and the TV had freeview and a good pictures. The wifi worked on multiple devices. Breakfast was excellent and the hotel was amazing value at £54 for two.
The publican was a perfect host and did an excellent job with what they had
The ned was very uncomfortable, there was no wifi in the rooms.
The room overlooked the carpark, the entrance was next to the room so very noisy with other guests coming and going. All doors seemed to bang shut. Room above, squeaky floor and could hear people walking about.
Clean room clean sheets and bed
Simple basic breakfast menu option would be nice: like porridge or kippers and DECAF tea and DECAF coffee if possible
Friendly staff, very accommodating Nice breakfast Decent water flow from the shower
Fairly creaky old building
room ok, bathroom good, bed good a bit small. Warm room.
It was near a main road a bit noisy in morning.
This is my first time staying at the Sussex, the welcome was warm and most hospitable, the family who are now running the hotel had just taken over the week prior to my arrival but the atmosphere would make anyone feel at home, the breakfast was great, and I certainly didn`t feel out of place throughout the evening-thank you to all I met during my stay, I recommend it to everyone, and when up in the area again would definitely stay there again
there was nothing to dilike
Location was OK, staff were helpful, considering they were new they were a bit unsure of some things, but they tried hard which mad it all OK.
Very limited parking, I had to park on the road and was lucky to get something close. Basic room, which was fine for me, but the price was a bit steep for what it was, perhaps an indicator of the lack of beds available in Bexhill.
Friendly staff Clean room Lovely breakfast Value for money
Staff were warm friendly and helpful.
The current staff had just taken over the hotel that day and were a bit disorganised. There was a low electrical buzz in the room all night.
The tv worked and I felt like I must be in an episode of faulty towers
Wall paper peeling off the walls , dirty stained carpets , mould in shower, cobwebs all over the place, pub downstairs dirty, very limited drinks ,more would be available on Tuesday however this was Saturday !! landlords baby in pram in the bar , landlords dog in the bar also in the kitchen , no food available in the bar as the extractor fans were broken however breakfasts were available work that one out ,, best thing that could happen here is that it was knocked down or maybe turned into yet another charity shop which I'm sure bex hill must hold the Guinness world record for !! 54 quid , you get what you pay for
Bexhill is located near the oldtown of Haistings and not far from Eastbourne or Brighton who have more to offer. The street (London road) has restourants to everybody's taste. The rooms are big enough.
The room was not verry clean, spider webs hanging from the ceiling. The bed has a matras with springs and you feel each individual spring, personal did not show up one morning to serve breakfast so we missed out on that. Noise from the bar below
Good value for money. Central location Good breakfast
Towels a bit thin and small
The location was reasonable - 5/10mins walk to the De La Warr Pavilion. It was at least reasonably good value for money, but I did not enjoy my experience at the hotel.
The downstairs area of the pub did not feel very inviting - it could do with a bit more fresh air and lighter decoration in order to improve the atmosphere. In general, the decor in the hallways and bedroom could also have been improved (stained carpets, very poor mattress etc). Breakfast could be improved by making the atmosphere more welcoming and lively - the room was silent when I entered and despite the limited number of guests, I had to wait 15mins at my table before being served (and even then I had to run after the manager to place my order).
The Sussex Hotel is in a lovely location and close to beach. Onsite parking and a great breakfast.
The night I stayed the kitchens were being deep cleaned so having walked to the beach and along the peer I had to then go back out for dinner. The hotel itself was very dated and the wallpaper was peeling off the walls. The bed was very uncomfortable, also the shower leaked. But you get what you pay for.
Little things like bins not emptied daily
Staff were lovely, breakfast was fantastic, band in the bar Friday night were brilliant would definitely stay here again. Plenty of car parking.
Pillows too thin.
Location as it was close to an event I was attending. Staff were polite and friendly
Awful smell in corridors and rooms, carpets very dirty, matress was very uncomfortable and all springs could be felt. Pillows smelt very bad - even through the clean sheets
Staff very helpfull, very nice rooms
Check in Staff by Barman was excellent. Staff were helpful with the tv in the room. Close in proximity to Bexhill central
Well ... just about everything ... Single room bed mattress badly stained and no underblanket. Shower had mould all over. No bedside light so could not really read in bed. Entrance from the car park up the back stairs was filthy. Cigarette butts diry bucket, food leftovers not a pleasant entrance to go through. Breakfast was awful, egg and bacon swimming in fat and just plonked on the plate. No staff visible throughout service. Would not stay here again! No information booklet on how to operate tv or shower. Windows rattled all night.
I didn't stay at the hotel. They doubled booked.. Very kindly they found me another hotel, and payed half the room charge. I can not complain.
I liked it all
Room was better than I expected - spacious, bright, clean and with a comfortable bed.
Breakfast was served between 7.30 and 8.30 which is abit early when you want to take it easy!
