It was dirty syringe needle on w'indowseal of beroom dirty carpet dust over all furniture. No food served eventhough advertized on tables. No one to serve breakfast in morning left without any no one answering emergancy phone number.Rubbish all round out back of pub.Custemer smoking in porch of pub.no responce from complaints after being told we would have complet refund pluss compansatin. False advertizing. Need I say more no I would not recomend this dump to any one!!!!!

The new managers (less that 1 week) were very pleasant and helpful and did their best to make our stay good but were fighting against the odds in many ways. The first room (no. 3) on day one was spacious and had been cleaned, good shower. The breakfast was well cooked and presented. We asked for a change of rooms for the second night and this (no.6)was prepared well and was clean. Apart from a kitchen extractor, which kicked in at 7am, we had an undisturbed night.

The toilet in room 3 would not clear and the plumber had not turned up from 2-3 days before, the TV (a museum relic) did not work properly, an extractor or similar stopped and started all night and there was significant traffic noise. Carpets were cleaned but not good. Beds were not very comfortable. Money needs to be spent to make the premises acceptable. A small investment in secondary glazing would remove the problem of traffic noise in the front bedroom and of the kitchen extractor in the second bedroom. The other extractors need to be serviced or renewed. The plumbing needs to be sorted out and the staff given the support they need to turn the place around. They have made a good start.

Floor not hoovered and stained Mirrors dirty

Arrived booked Twin offered Double. No gas - no cooking facilities - no evening meal or breakfast as advertised. Tv broken in room. Declined and received full refund. Three Star you must be joking - room filthy - what a ripoff - stay away!!

Location

Stained and very dirty (rubbish bits) carpets, dirty basin, toothpaste splatered and grime,cobwebs, 2 cups 1 scaucer, old coffee/sugar damp sachets, no spoon. Broken really dirty kettle that had a very short lead. Bar person come cleaner/cook was of dirty appearence. Manager rude. When he deemed an appearence. To top it all the key to let ourselfs in with at 12.25a.M. was not the right key, so had to wake up my son for me to stay at. My husband drove home. Still waiting for return of money. It was refused over the bar and was told I had to put my details on paper and it would be sent to a head office for a refund from them via the bank. This place should be removed from any sites un till it is fit for purpose.

Friendly staff

Dirty room. Discusting shower head. Burnt food. Dirty cutlery.dirty tea pots. Alround dirty experience. This hotel should not be on your books!!!!!!!!!!!

Poor Service & Attitude.

Breakfast very poor no chice of food just cooked no juices had to wait for breakfast while the landlord went to buy bread etc from the local shop room was not service while we were there room very tired but bed was comfortable only good for contrackers no food served during the evening

Value for money

New managememt had only just taken over. Although breakfast was included in the rate there were no staff in the hotel in the morning and we left with no breakfast at 8.30pm The rear access to the hotel used by hotel guests was unlit and not at all clean

Exceptional value for money and perfectly suited our needs as we were attending a rock concert at the DLW Pavilion. Good breakfast. Good location and we walked to and from the concert.

Given the value for money offer we would use the hotel again.

The excellent and friendly service provided and the full English breakfast.

Unfortunately the hotel could do with some re-decoration. The overall impression was shabby.

Term reasonable, staff very friendly. Couldn't do more for us. Breakfast was lovely.the lady took all our orders and then went and cooked each order by herself, whilst ensuring we had plates of toast and teas and coffee pots etc. Would stay again if need to visit the area.

Tv signal wasn't great. Although we only put it on for few mins. But for what u pay. Wouldn't complain.

new managment only taken over 3 days befor I arrived so a little bit of panic on my arrival.But outherwise all was o k . Room and bathroom clean and tidy, good supply of towels etc, good breakfast ( with a runny yoke egg, [ Not tough and rubbery ] )

enjoyed our one night in the sussex hotel the staff were wonderfull nothing to much trouble i would reccomend this hotel to everyone.

Nice staff. The room was clean. There was plenty of parking.

It was a busy pub, on the night we stayed there was a 40th birthday party. The room itself was lovely, but it was odd having breakfast in a room still being tidied from a 40th the night before.

Very good value for money with staff very quick to answer questions about local information. Spacious, comfortable room.

Loud music until 23:30 on a Saturday night

This place is a health hazzard and needs to close whilst it is cleaned thoroughly and refurbished

only 500 yds from family could park the car and walk.

We had a great stay at the Sussex. The staff were great and only to happy to help, nothing was to much trouble. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. When we were there there was a free jukebox, it's not to far from the seafront and has a free car park. The bedroom was large and had a good en-suit. For the price we payed it was value for money.

The Pool Table was a pound a game

The Landlord, The Dog, The Breakfast. :-)
