The accommodation itself was great, we were given a lovely room with a view over the very pretty rear garden. The room was very clean, decorated well, contemporary but in keeping with the house. The breakfast was excellent as was the hospitality - we had a warm welcome and Cathy was friendly and informative for the whole stay. The hotel is in a good location, and only about 15 minutes from Edinburgh centre on the many buses available. We would recommend this hotel to anyone and would visit again.

I stayed in the top floor room which was lovely and clean. My family stayed in the four person cottage which had everything you could need, it was it's own little house and was also very clean. the owners were very welcoming. Would certainly stay here again. It was 20 minute walk to the city centre, but there were regular buses from right outside. We enjoyed the walk anyways.

We had a very nice two nights stay at Alba House. Our hosts were most accommodating and extremely helpful in directing us toward our various destinations, as well as the best places to shop for our daughters academic year in the University of Edinburgh. Location was quiet and comfortable with direct access to a most efficient public transportation system. Breakfast selections at Alba House were plentiful and personal requests catered for with the highest regard. Looking forward to our return later on in the year.

Top floor rooms were peaceful and quiet. The whole atmosphere was cozy and harmonic. Cath was a perfect hostess, breakfast was tasty, bed was perfect and shower was effective. Our friend's can give the same comments except the shower. In their room only were a bath tube withe separate taps for cold and warm water. I'd like to propose a small investment. Please, install a separate shower. Less consumption of water will pay it back very soon. However, our stay was very enjoyable and the Military Tattoo was unforgetable. Edinburgh is one of the most beatiful capital cities in Europe and the people are friendly and polite. Even the rain did not spoil the great feeling. The wardrope was too low for clothes. A coat rack should be practical for outerwear. A small table in the bathroom would be good for the personal items.

Cath, the landlady, was very friendly and helpful. Large, memory foam bed was also a big plus. The design of the room itself was a bit modern (pink and black), which isn't my favorite.

Convenient for access to central Edinburgh. Friendly and accommodating staff/owners. Nothing to complain about, but watch out for alarm clock/radio in room, which seemed to have been set by the hotel staff/owners for midnight and 6:30.

Lovely place to stay. Good location on the outskirts of the city - we walked in to the city centre a couple of times which took about 30mins. On the times we were feeling less energetic, the b&b is on a main bus route where you only have to wait a couple of minutes between buses. The room we had was an economy double which was really comfortable and worth the price, although there was no shower in our room. If there had been availability, we probably would have upgraded to one of the 'non- economy' doubles as these looked extremely good from what we saw, but we booked the day before arrival so these were already full. The owner was really helpful and provided a good choice of breakfast in the morning. Overall, we had a great stay and would definitely recommend this b&B. We were in the top floor of the b&b and so there were a quite a few stairs to the room. In addition, our room didn't have a shower due to the ceiling height, but the bath was quick to fill and a decent size which more than compensated for this. I think that was why it was the 'economy double', but it definitely wouldn't put me off staying in the same room again.

The breakfast was plentiful and well cooked. The room was comfortable with a decent sized TV. The room was at the front of the house so the road noise was significant the curtains did not provide full blackout. The shower looked great but lacked water pressure and heat variation and because the shower screen was too small, water ended up all over the floor. The bathroom mirror was too low. The duvet was too hot for the weather conditions and there was no top sheet.

The Hostess was extremely friendly and helpful. The room was of an excellent standard. The breakfast was exceptionally good! The bacon was locally sourced and delicious, and the toast.... Most places you go they give you sliced bread in a rack and by the time you go to eat it its like cold cardboard. This was real bread cut into decent slices and it stayed warm so that the butter melted . We would definitely recommend this hotel and if up there again will return! NOthing - it was really good.
