The staff service, and the food was superb. The location is great for sightseeing and shopping, very central. I was not very impressed with my room, the wall, above the bed, presented a white patch trying to mend damaged wall paper. This should be taken on account in the future, as it does not befit a 4 star hotel. Perhaps the beds shouldn't have a black cover as it adds too much darkness to the room. |

Excellent location. Nice staff and good breakfast. Did not like the black decor in the room and our carpet really needed a shampoo |

I was made very welcome in this charming Georgian style boutique hotel The bar was at the cellar restaurant, which is not very inviting if you want to grab a drink only. |

friendly, helpful staff, hotel decor beautiful, quiet situation. Spacious room with loads of storage space. Very efficient service in restaurant. Room was a bit dark, but this is in keeping with the period style of the hotel. |

The room was comfortably furnished and the staff very friendly and helpful at all times. The continental breakfast was a bit basic would have expected a choice of breads, only had toast. The lighting in the bedroom was very bad. |

Staff was very friendly from the start. Location is good, easy walk to the centre and the street was quiet. Our room was a bit too dark (dark walls, dark floors, dark furniture etc) with inadequate lights. The lock on the door was old and loose. |

The hotel was very central, staff were great. The breakfast was lovely too and the decor made it a comfortable experience. The only thing was that the room was dark but I suppose that is due to it being an older building. |

Not very much to be honest, for a four star hotel, it was really disappointing. The introductory passage boasts a luxury bathroom.. It was extremely tiny and dirty. The room was dirty and dusty. I was able to write dust on a number of surfaces on the day I arrived, thinking the cleaners would see it when they were in, sadly the dust was still there when I left. Our room was on the top floor and there was no lift so we had 48 steps up to the room which was very taxing for my elderly mother. |

I liked the appearance of everything at the hotel. They have certainly gone out of their way to make it all up to date. |

Staff and service was excellent, breakfast very good. Ten minute walk to the Royal Mile, train station and Edinburgh Castle Very dark room in black, brown and purple with dim lighting; hard to read. They did say they are going to update the lighting also bedspread was stained. |
