Score from 1104 reviews Very good
The room was nice, although I think boutique these days is an excuse for a bit shabby. Good bath, desk, bed. The staff were helpful and friendly and the food in the bar was very nice indeed.
Noisy traffic in the morning woke me up, but not before 7.30 so I can't really complain. Breakfast could do with a bit of work, be nice to have some eggs or similar along with all the cold food.
Carpets need to be replaced
The hotel is very tired, decoration needs considerable work, poor windows, tired bathrooms
Staff were all friendly and helpful Comfy beds Decent breakfast
Chipped paint and some carpets need replacing
The hotel could use some serious upgrades.
Excellent location, helpful and friendly staff
Decor rather "tired". Faded glory
Staff were pleasant and helpful. Good location close to centre of city.
It struggled to be a 4 star hotel The room was very small and the furniture in it was a bit shabby. Breakfast was okay, but 3 star rather than 4 star. Some of carpets in public areas were worn.
This is a very nice small hotel that's very well decorated and presented. but what I really liked was the receptionist. The welcome I got when I arrived at the hotel, and the way I was treated throughout my stay, was absolutely first class. Sam was friendly, attentive and incredibly warm and helpful. She makes this hotel!
Continental breakfast only - a nice cooked breakfast is part of the treat of a hotel stay for me.
Great location !! Was able to walk into the centre quickly and staff where very friendly.
The pictures on the internet didn't look like the rooms when I saw them. There is much work needed doing on the building and decor. I.e: bath had a big hole in it, plaster coming off, carpets pulling up off the floor, chipped wallpaper and the door handle came off! But the staff where very helpful and sorted the problems for me.
location and friendly staff
Room was in basement
Liked the decor very funky. Good continental breakfast. Staff very pleasant and helpful.
Reception scruffy and untidy. Bedroom carpet was torn and need replaced. Paintwork was badly chipped. Shower room was extremely small. It's a shame as this totally spoiled a nice hotel.
Excellent location, hotel fine some minor issues withthe shower
Nothing that would stop me going back
Well styled room, tons of space, comfy and welcoming.
A bit shabby....in need of a lick of paint and a refresh. Our door chain was broken and the carpet fraying.!
friendly staff, lovely big clean room away from too much hustle and bustle but easy walking distance to town.
Good central location Friendly staff Nice continental breakfast
Room in noisy location just off reception Very uncomfortable lumpy bed Dark room
beautiful big room, and upgraded for free! Good selection at breakfast
Nothing and room rate over priced by a long way. This hotel is not four star. It has a very tired look throughout requires totally refurbished and the staff require some basic training. Very poor
The staff were very helpful and perfect location and easy to go around with everything at a short walk distance.
The breakfast was very poor on choices and not justify the price. Also floor boards very noise in the bedroom kept me awake most nights, bedroom good size and excellent shower
Lucky enough to have been allocated a family room instead of a twin room. Personnel very helpful. Excellent location.
Hotel slightly run down, could do with some refurbishing.
A pleasant hotel in a quiet street 10 minutes walk from the centre. The staff were excellent, both at checking in and at breakfast, when they ensured we had enough coffee and toast. The continental breakfast had a good range to chose from, pastries, cereal, fresh fruit, meats cheeses and salmon. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom modern.
The carpet was a little worn in places
Location and style
Wifi very limited around the building especially in the lower level rooms.
Friendly and helpful staff
Some threadbare carpets on the stairs.
It's a lovely boutique hotel needing a bit of touching up on paintwork and frayed carpets - let's down the overall image a bit and wouldn't cost the owners much to upgrade. The room was spacious and very comfortable.
There was a very bright floodlight right outside my window lighting up the basement area - and seemed to be on most of the night. Although there were thick black curtains, they didn't close properly at the top, nor were they high enough to prevent the bright light coming in at the top of the curtains. The remote control for the tv didn't work properly and was difficult to use which was a nuisance more than a problem.
Breakfast, comfy room, clean place, helpfull staff (although several didn't have English as their 1st language and sometimes didn't quite understand us completely)
Having to walk through a "Maze" of corridors to get to our room from the entrance (the hotel seems to have been 4 town houses knocked into one so we had to walk from one end to the other)
