The location near the park was great. It's a short 10 minute taxi ride from the city so not somewhere to stay if you want to be touristy but I was attending a wedding in a church just 5 minutes walk from the venue so it was perfect. Communication from staff could have been better. While I knew the hotel had a disco on a Saturday night as it's a function hotel and it says so on it's website, I didn't know my room was affected by the noise until I returned to it hoping for an early night as the wedding I was attending was on Sunday, I had to phone hotel reception to find out what time it was due to end (12.30am). I'm sure the reception staff was just waiting for me to complain - I didn't, just wanted to know what time it ended and I would have appreciated knowing in advance so I could make evening plans to accommodate. It's about managing the client's expectations. There was also problems with no hot water in the hotel. This was outside the hotel's control and they were getting it fixed but more pro-active communication from the hotel (such as telling me when I returned from the evening that there was still no hot water in my room instead of me finding out when I went to have a shower) would have been appreciated. It just led to an overall distrust, like they were waiting for me to complain and being reactive, rather than being open and transparent and providing a solution to my problem. It then meant little things, like not being given my newspaper on Sunday morning, annoyed me. The reception staff were apologetic and great, discounted the bill, didn't charge me for late check out, and did find another room (with hot water) for me to shower in on Sunday but it just left a bad taste in my mouth.

We stayed in this hotel on saturday 21st May. The hotel is beautiful outside and in. The staff were all very friendly, polite and helpful. Breakfast was gorgeous!! nothing else to say on that...very happy After seeing how beautiful the hotel is, i was expecting a room to match, i was unfortunately dissapointed with our room, we had room 48, as soon as we opened the door, the bed was just one small step away, i was shocked at how tiny the room was! we had to walk sideways to get to the other side of the bed as the room was that small. The bathroom was fine, however we didnt use the shower as we noticed a few hairs and dirty marks.

The room was awefully small for a Leisuire room which I booked. When asked for an upgrade the receptionist said it was the biggest room in the hotel however when checked in various pictures there were other bigger rooms in the hotel so clearly she didn't want to help. Disappointed by the value you get for your money.

For us the location was good as we were attending a friend's birthday party on nearby Ullett Road. The breakfast was good and the staff were helpful. The Hotel was very noisy in the evening with a disco going full tilt until 0030, then lots of noise as the disco-ers dispersed. The sound proofing in the rooms was really very poor indeed and it was impossible to get to sleep - or even hear the tv - until the party was over.

We stayed at the Alicia on st Paddys day for a birthday night out in Liverpool. On the upside the grounds are lovely and a cute little bar, the rooms were clean and the staff were friendly. On the downside I had a bath and there didn't seem to be any hot water left for anybody else, we went with another couple who had a room just below us, my husband and them all had to have cold showers. The hair dryer in our room cut out after 10 mins luckily I was hurt about done. The mattress was like a brick.

we were especially impressed with every one of the staff..they were so helpful, friendly and accomodating in every way and really went out of their way to ensure we had a relaxing stay and that everything we asked for was provided. breakfast was amazing...so healthy...even seeds and very healthy options with cereals. lots of fruit too. the fry, which was so tempting, was , in fact, a lovely grilled meal, with not a sigh of un healthy greasyness. thankyou. we will be back..nothing at all.

The staff were friendly and helpful. Great location for a walk in Sefton Park - visit the Palm House. Just round the corner to Lark Lane for great places to eat and drink. Short taxi ride to city centre or a lovely walk. The room was quite small but ok for the price.

Well lit from the outside, easy to find. Good sized rooms (in keeping with price). Excellent shower and bath. Heated towel rack was also very useful. The carpet was unclean and looked like it had not been vacuumed for a few weeks. The telephone was covered in thick dust (including the buttons). It felt extremely unhygienic. The bed was extremely uncomfortable. The mattress felt old (I could feel the springs) and overly soft. Neither of us slept at all. The second day I was interrogated by a concierge when I was looking at artwork and decor in the corridor. He persistently asked me what I wanted, and my reply was the same, I'm just admiring the artwork!! I felt uneasy and unwanted in Alicia Hotel. I have used Best Western before in different parts of the world (e.g. Brazil - Rio de Janeiro) and have never experienced this kind of behavior before. As I didn't feel welcome I left a night early and went elsewhere (still having the pay in full - which I didn't mind). I can't think of any other reason for the way I was treated other than my ethnicity. I will continue to use Best Western but I will never return to Alicia.
