Well lit from the outside, easy to find. Good sized rooms (in keeping with price). Excellent shower and bath. Heated towel rack was also very useful. The carpet was unclean and looked like it had not been vacuumed for a few weeks. The telephone was covered in thick dust (including the buttons). It felt extremely unhygienic. The bed was extremely uncomfortable. The mattress felt old (I could feel the springs) and overly soft. Neither of us slept at all. The second day I was interrogated by a concierge when I was looking at artwork and decor in the corridor. He persistently asked me what I wanted, and my reply was the same, I'm just admiring the artwork!! I felt uneasy and unwanted in Alicia Hotel. I have used Best Western before in different parts of the world (e.g. Brazil - Rio de Janeiro) and have never experienced this kind of behavior before. As I didn't feel welcome I left a night early and went elsewhere (still having the pay in full - which I didn't mind). I can't think of any other reason for the way I was treated other than my ethnicity. I will continue to use Best Western but I will never return to Alicia.

It was convenient for visiting family and friends - also nicely adjacent to Sefton Park and for a city location quite quiet. The dining area was good being at the front of the hotel. The evening meal was better than expected. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The bedroom because of it's shape was rather claustraphobic and it was necessary to open the window quite wide at night to lower the temperature. The size of room would have more suitable for a single room. The buffet breakfast was ok but some of the items were not really hot and had been cooked for some time (not very fresh). Overall the hotel looked a bit tired and will continue to benefit from further refurbishment - everything could do with brightening up!

Convenient to address of family being visited as well as being in pleasant location overlooking Sefton Park with reasonable car parking facilities. The bedroom we occupied was somewhat dark and outdated and it was annoying to find several lightbulbs were not working on arrival and it was immediately necessary to bring this to the attention of Reception. Also, there were no instructions readily available on how to operate the TV facilities in the bedroom and it was again necessary to summon personal help via Reception and even the Redceptionist had some difficulty in bringing the set into working operation.

Location on your website states 15 minutes wall into town which in reality is in excess of 40 minutes. We were given the wrong key to our toom and when we eventually got into the room our shower glass rail was broken off the runner hinges. Additionally when wr checked out at were about to pay for our 4 drinks we were initially charged for 8.

The staff were very friendly , I liked the blankets as they were warm and cosy , the bed was very comfortable, very clean and a nice smell from it. The location is brill , cheap taxi to city center or you can walk or bus it , the Sefton park across from the Alicia is cool nice to go for a walk . Its definetly cheap for a short stay which included breakfast , breakfast was very good , but only served until 9.30 , the televison was a good size in the room and there was a book of things to do in liverpool which was a nice touch . Staff were lovely and called taxis for us as we didnt know our way around and they did it with a smile ! happy with my stay and would definetly go back. Our shower didnt have hot water one of the days during our stay , it only affected our room , but the staff were so quick to let us use another free room it wasnt a problem at all really . There are no vending machines in the hotel so if you are a chocoholic , be prepared ! and breakfast is only served until 9.30 , i would prefer if i was only getting up at 9.30 as i was on a short break anyways it was a very good breakfast .

Not a lot. This was largely because the room was cold. We were told that the heating system was not working to full capacity on the coldest night of year so far! Room cold

Breakfast was good The room bed-curtains were thick with old dust. The room decor was really naff - that ridiculous bed canopy and all that dark red paint! I was not happy with the bluw light showing through small openings in the window curtains

Convenient location. Friendly staff. Room small and no bedside table. Lights not working on arrival but quickly fixed although one light was still not functioning. No towel rails in bathroom and water ran cold in filling a first bath before going out for the evening which was disappointing!

I travel constantly with my work and stay in a lot of hotels. This place is one of my favourites and feels like home. Some of the friendliest, most helpful staff I've ever met and a really cosy, homely atmosphere. Can't recommend it highly enough!

Not a lot. We had to make a complaint which was to the managers credit resolved through the offer of a different room. Breakfast facilities were good. When we arrived at 1pm it took some time to be seen at reception. We were told our room would be ready for us earlier than 2pm which was a good offer as we were in Liverpool for a wedding. We decided to go for a walk and some lunch nearby. When we returned at 2pm we were told the room was ready and given our key. When we got to the room it was in a heap and had not been cleaned - the cleaner was about to do this but we had been promised on more than one occasion that it would be ready. The size of the room was inadequate for the price paid. We were in a hurry to get to a 3pm wedding and were now anxious about the prospect of being late. The mattress on th bed was unsuitable. We complained and were upgraded to a better room. We were literally changing our clothes and running between rooms. There was a new staff member on duty - she could not remember anything! The taxi driver who came to pick us up was told we had checked out! Only for his perseverance we would have been left at the hotel and late for the wedding. Not a good experience.

Good morning, I wish to pass on my thanks to Amelia, following a problem with on line booking she immediately sorted out the problem. Considering how busy the hotel was this last weekend with the European cross country trials being held on your doorstep, I was more than happy with the service and courtesy shown to my family. Please pass on my thanks. Kind regards Josephine McLeod

The staff are brilliant and so helpful...a credit to the hotel Nothing! - it was a very low price, central for everything we needed (£6 to get a taxi to city centre - ideal for all that shopping!) breakfast was plentiful with a wide range to chose from.

Quiet location on the edge of the city - just a short taxi journey to city. On the edge of Sefton Park which is a lovely area to walk around and relax and also just a short walk from Lark Lane - for local pubs and eating out. Ample easy and safe parking. Lovely breakfast. Only little niggles! Hot water took a long time to come through. The toilet was a bit hard to flush.

The location was good by the side of a large park so was quiet. It was an old building so had some character and was not so fumulaic as some chain hotels. We stayed on the top floor of the hotel but there was a strong smell of cooking coming from the lift shaft which was a permanent feature in the hallway - it did not come into the bedroom though so did not ruin our stay.

It looks a good building, the breakfast was good, staff friendly and helpful, the room had good facilities, location was good. I think cleanliness is a bit of a problem, needs someone to check the cleaners work lots of dust in rooms and on corridors. The shower in our room no50 had the on of switch missing so you had to put your finger in the hole, not good when wet.damp problem in the corner of our room all the paper coming of the wall. I feel that the alicia is looking tired and needs a good makeover.

Good value, pleasant room, quiet area overlooking the park. Very cold room, although the room was available from 2 pm the heating was not due to come on until 5pm by which time we had left for the evening. No doubt it would have taken a while for the room to warm up when the heating came on. I asked 3 times for a heater, this must have arrived outside the door well after we had left for the evening.
