“Great location, great food and friendly staff, allways at hand if any problems arose, would book again very pleased with all that the inn offered,”
Jeffrey,

The Black Boy is a 16th-century inn within Caernarfon's historic town walls. It has good Real Ales, hearty meals, and is an easy walk from the center of town and 13th-century castle. The Black Boy Inn dates back to 1522 and is one of the oldest inns in North Wales. Some of its walls are 4-5 ft thick. The wood paneling, creaking floorboards, low ceilings, narrow staircases and thick wooden beams create a cozy atmosphere. Caernarfon is a market town with an open-air market every Saturday (Mondays also in summer). Hotel Rooms: 27 Most recent booking for this hotel was today at 10:13 from Denmark.

I thought it was a very good hotel. The bedroom was fantastic, and I understand they even have superior rooms as well as the standard which I had.....so try one of those next time. The food was also good.

The room was comfortable. The location was perfect for our visit. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was well cooked. I would be happy to stay there again. The car park could be a little difficult getting in and out of parking spaces if you have a large car

The position of the inn could not be better for visits to the castle and surrounding area, we are going back in June and taking our son and daughter in law who will love the four poster beds! The staff were very friendly and polite and couldn't do enough for us. Thank you to them for making our stay so enjoyable.

Very friendly, very clean, great attmosphere, lovely and warm to come back to after being out in the cold all day, Lots of hot water. Extensive breakfast menu with as much tea/coffee and toast as you like. On site parking. On site parking this was not a problem for us but may become an issue in the future, due to expansion, as there are limited number of parking spaces.

Location is superb - right in the heart of Caernarfon within the medieval city walls, minutes from the castle, with easy access to Snowdonia mountains, and the coastline of North Wales. Excels as a pub in every way, delicious food, fantastic atmosphere, authentic features, huge range of drinks, and friendly service with a smile. Breakfast menu is varied, substantial, with locally sourced food, and served with the usual high standards associated with this pub kitchen. Think twice about booking a room located at the front of the pub (street- facing) - it's worthwhile phoning ahead to secure one of the few rear- facing rooms. The authenticity of the building (I.E. only single glazed windows allowed), and its deserved success with pub-visiting patrons, is a 'double-edged sword' for those considering a stay. Without any sound proofing, you can hear every conversation word-for-word until the last drinks have been finished. If you're planning days with early starts and early finishes, avoid the front-facing rooms to avoid this disturbance (unfortunately, we didn't!). That said, if you're in a rear-facing room, or plan to be heading to the bar for last orders yourself, then you'll have no problem enjoying your stay.

The restaurant food was lovely and the breakfast second to none, would love to stay here again.and will be recommending it to friends and family. The four poster bed room was a real treat, hope to visit again.

Stayed in room on top floor with lots of character, sloaping ceilings and exposed beams.Large comfortable bed.Very clean room and en suite. Breakfast was was both plentiful and tasty.Bar meals were also good, with large portions. Location of inn was excellent, being in the heart of town only a short walk to the castle and waterside. Staff were very friendly.

Friendly, helpful staff and comfortable bed. We had paid extra for a deluxe room but unfortunately the kitchen extractor fan was positioned immediately outside our window and was on from 7am until 10.30pm, making a terrific noise! Also it was obvious that money had been spent upgrading the bathroom but the shower was anything but luxurious! It was an overbath mixer type - the bath was too narrow to stand in comfortably and the water temperature fluctuated between freezing and scalding.

Oldy wordly charm - friendly staff, clean - convenient to walk to the castle, town, train and harbour. Good quality food, very large pppportions and good selection of drinks. Although beams charming, can be difficult to navigate around when tall and wide! Very warm room.

The room we had was a suite and the facilities in this room were of a high standard. From the bed through to the bathroom. We also dined there in the evening and the food was also good. Breakfast was also good, large selection of choices. The staff were helpful and friendly I would definately go back again. Its location was also good, if you are traveling along the coast and into the countryside as well. Good hotel

The hotel was small and friendly with loads of charactor. Food was extremely good. Don't miss their breakfasts. The hotel was warm at all times, I hate being cold! The hotel is just inside one of the historic wall entrances with its own car parking area. The whole experience felt very special. Very short stroll to the castle etc.(3 mins walk). Only negative was resident above us not being able to sleep, kept walkiing around and their floor squeeked. Sounded like someone was in our room. Very disconcerting. We were in room 2. window also looked out onto the rear patio area so in the summer could get quite noisy, I would have thought.
