We liked everything and would like to have stayed longer
The staff were friendly helpful and very welcoming. The food was to an excellent standard and the bedroom was gorgeous. Just loved the building so oldie worldie with modern facilities
where do we start, the staff are lovely, the room was amazing, the pub, food and atmosphere were fantastic. I would strongly recommend The Black Boy,
Bar area,room,excellent breakfast
Friendliness of staff, great food
Unless you've booked into the restaurant, it's very popular so a long wait for a table
Comfy beds, great shower and very friendly staff
Noise of bottles emptying first thing in the morning , and creaking board noises of other rooms
Nice place good friendly hospitality
Only two slight problems.....our bedroom was exceptionally hot at night so despite the fact that it was March, we had to open all windows! One of the restaurant staff seemed to be out of her depth and will need more training - at breakfast she ordered one plate of scrambled egg on toast instead of two and then placed it in the middle of the table for us to share.....! The same lady had to ask for a great deal of help from two different staff members in order to order a sandwich WITHOUT salad! (Maybe a quick trip to the kitchen in the next room and a quiet word with the chef would have been easier?!) Just a bit more training needed here, rest of staff were excellent!
The room we used (Rm 4) was perfect for us, furniture, decor telling a story of times gone by but employing modern facilities well. Most staff members were friendly, well-trained and capable. Menus were varied and enjoyable. We will definitely revisit the Black Boy.
Staff a delight.
Position of the hotel was very central and the food was excellent
Old would style inn friendly staff good food reasonable price
there was nothing to dislike, everybody staff wise were very attentive and eager to please
Perfect location. Superb accommodation. Great food. Best B&B breakfast for a long time. Super friendly and efficient staff. Highly recommended
My bed was not very comfortable and there was no window in the room
The staff, the rooms, the location but best of all the food ! Really good value for money I would certainly recommend to anyone
I banged my head on a low beam - 100% my fault - the receptionist did warn me and there are 'Mind Your Head' notices on all the beams. This is entirely a reflection on my lack of observation and nothing to do with any shortfall in the hotel's facilities.
The fact that I had a reserved space on the hotel's car park was most convenient.
Friendly staff, ever helpful. The food in the restaurant was excellent, as was the breakfast. The set dinner for the reunion in the Coach House was of excellent quality and served with good humour and patience by the helpful staff.
We stayed one night as we were attending a Golden Wedding celebration at another venue. We enjoyed the quaintness and the history of the inn. The staff were really helpful and the room was excellent.
Wi-fi did not extend to our room in Black Jack so had to go outside to access it.
All as above. Very friendly and helpful staff.
The staff are very friendly and the food is amazing. All round great value for money.
The staff were absolutely top drawer, massively helpful and very cheerful! An absolute pleasure to stay here... the Whiskey menu (Welsh Whiskey!) is superb :0)
The town itself isn't that great, which isn't the fault of the Blackboy Inn.
Beautiful venue. Visited the pub for drinks before but first time we've stayed. Read revues before booking. We were expecting a bit of a wait for food but were shown to our table within 15minutes which I don't believe to be long. Staff extremely friendly. Service brilliant.
Everything really, lovely room comfy bed, linen, soft towels, great shower, and fab food!
no where to sit in bar areas ,without being surrounded by hungry eaters and food, even on a monday night
Well located reasonably priced ,comfortable, pleasant staff
friendly staff. good food
