The staff was very helpful and friendly, although at times, did not give very good direction, I.E. if we would be dining in the bar or feasting room. A bit confusion. Not a complaint, just a suggestion. There are still some people who do smoke, it would be very nice to have an open air area, with shelter, for people who do. On our stay the weather was very stormey and a shelter would have been nice as every place was non-smoking.

Beautiful location, our room was lovely and clean and spacious. Breakfast was super and well attended, service at the breakfast was great they brought semi skimmed milk no bother... Evening meal was a bit expensive and a bit disappointing, Balmoral chicken had a very small amount of haggis and did not flavour the chicken at all, the fish had what we think was capers, way too salty and spoilt it, actually had to spit them out. The bed was very uncomfortable indeed, the worst I have slept on in a long time.

Friendly and helpful staff in a lovely old world atmosphere. They could improve the quality of the toast at breakfast - it was the only thing that we felt should be improved.

Iconic and historic hotel with wonderful views and location, providing great value. Staff were very friendly and attentive, the food local and prepared to a high standard. The wild venison was the best we've had. Wine list was short yet more than adequate and combined decent quality with sensible pricing. The bar was comfortable and well stocked yet despite having an array of tap and bottled lager from around the world lacked a real ale/scottish micro-brew (even bottled) which if I'm being picky would have been nice. A lovely weekend and yes, we'll be back.

Excellent location, hotel food was excellent, both evening meal and breakfast. Room was cold and there was no coffee in our room, only herbal teas and decaff.

We found this a beautiful stately hotel, a little way out of Ballachulish which adds to the peace and serenity. There is reasonable on site parking. We had a great room which was quite spacious and, tastefully decorated with a great view of the loch. The hotel has an excellent restaurant with a warm relaxing atmosphere .

Right from checking-in, the staff were very friendly & helpful, answering our few questions immediately. (I think it was Morgana who was the receptionist). The room was an upgrade due to our particular offer, and we were both very impressed, with views of the lochs & mountains. The kingsized bed was as good as a 5* we had stayed in previously.... Luxurious! Bathroom facilities also very good. I could nit-pick about the wardrobe door not fastening, but that would have been all I could have faulted! Overall rating, and lets be honest, it was graded only 3 aa stars, was excellent!! The only minor distraction of the Hotel, was the use of non-Scottish waitresses, who were extremely good, but perhaps other nationalities (I noticed at least three families from France) may have liked the rich sound of the Scottish accent, if only to feel they had visited Scotland properly.

We arrived and our room was nothing like the photos shown. We complained but the lady on the desk was rude and told us the photos shown were the best the hotel had to offer and we could not expect that standard. I must point out we had not booked a standard room but the one above with a loch view. We complained again that night to a different staff member and the next night they moved us to a different room, the difference was incomparable. We were also kept awake until the bar closed at 4am by other patrons. If you're looking for a quiet getaway this is more like staying in a pub! There was also a fight between two drunk hotel guests outside our room.

The brochure that prompoted us to do this hotel was pretty much correct. The Lakeside Hotel was very historic. We enjoyed the hotel. The food was good. We wished we had known that they served dinner. The room was good. The parking is on the side, and there is an entrance that had we been aware of where our room was...third floor, we could have saved ourselves a lot of dragging and lugging. Even with the Tom-Tom for guideance, our arrival was facilitated only because it was visible right below the bridge. The Tom-Tom was wrong. This is not the best place we stayed on our trip, but it was memorable, and sadly Scotland lost to England in Rugby at the World Cup,

The view from the dining room was very good and the food excellent. Room did not have any view except the wall of adjacent building . I had booked with Daily Mail coupons but felt the charge too high (£97.95) which was supposed to be half price . I gave the 4 coupons to the reception as instructed. Overall I was disappointed and would be hesitant to visit in future.

The staff were friendly and efficient. Our room was a little tired looking and in need of redecoration. Overall I felt disappointed considering the price. We paid for a loch view but all we saw was the loch under the nearby bridge. When I pointed this out the receptionist was very apologetic and offered to 'try' to move us the next day but as we were only on a 2 day stay it hardly seemed worth it once we had unpacked. A small concession was made when we paid the bill but it didn't compensate for the disappointment

Plenty of parking A tired hotel, sealed, airless, hot room. Loo unflushed on arrival. Unwelcoming at breakfast. Sticky tables in bar. Not worth £106 at all. Trades entirely on location and is a bad adverstisment for Scottish tourism.

The food and service in dining room was good. Very pleasant and helpful waiter and waitress. Lovely lounge with spectacular views. Beautiful view from bedroom. No one at reception - eventually had to go looking for her.Apparently it was her meal time! No apology given. Bathroom in bedroom was very shabby - bath/shower tiles extremely grubby. We stayed in this hotel about 6 years ago and it was very comfortable and great value for money, but not now.

Friendliness of the staff and very helpful young receptionist The hotel is looking so very tired and is in great need of updating. We are elderly and have walking difficulties , and found the long walk (with no help with our bags) from the car park to the Reception quite a challenge - as were the flights of stairs and no lift. The first room we were shown was on the second floor and we couldn't contemplate all the stairs and long long corridors. The second room was small and had no bath tub - only a tiny cupboard containing a shower that was well past its sell-by-date.
