Friendly, helpful and efficient staff. Period building very well maintained. Quiet rooms. Excellent restaurant. Lighting in the rooms was rather weak. Bedside lamps not bright enough to read in bed.

Very atmospheric, old coach house hotel with lots of character. The location is great, in a picturesque village and very close by Blenheim Palace. The staff were friendly and good food in the restaurant. As it's a very old country inn, the stairs are steep and narrow. Travelling from a long way away with a large suitcase it would have been nice if assistance had been offered when I arrived. There was no sign of porter service.

We loved the decor and atmosphere. It was a very good location for our visit to Blenheim Palace and the dinner was excellent. Breakfast was disappointing. We had some fruit and had barely finished when the cooked breakfast arrived which was cold.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, the setting was delightful and the hotel had a long interesting history. Disabled parking was not very easy, and it was not as warm as it should have been.

Very pleasant building and staff We did not like the extra charge of £2.50 for fish at breakfast. When we booked on your web site we thought we were having a 4 poster bed ,but we did not get one.I think you should point out that there might not be one. One of the reasons we booked with you was for this bed.

Excellent proximity to Blenheim Palace. Parking at the Bear was a bonus. We thought the breakfast was a bit overpriced so popped along to the Blenheim Buttery.

It was a building steeped in history. Still retaining its authentic beamed ceilings but decorated in a contemporary style. A short bus ride into Oxford for shopping was excellent with the bus stop being just around the corner from the hotel. We didn't eat in the hotel at all as there were so many restaurants to choose from in Woodstock itself. Would definitely stay there again and recdommend to a friend. Only two negatives £200 for a two night stay and no breakfast included even a continental would have beeen nice. The bedside tables didn't look as though they had been dusted for a long time I was tempted to do it myself with a baby wipe but would have had to have lifted the glass up and I was on my holidays. For that amount of money and no breakfast I didn't want to clean as on my holidays.

A great room in the courtyard (room 1) where we were able to have our small dog - the hotel provide a wicker basket and dog blanket. Very clean, comfortable and quiet. Central to town and an easy walk to Blenheim Palace gate. A great hotel at this price range (£100/night) The hotel bar lacks atmosphere and is quite cramped. The log fire wasn't lit and this drove us (and many other guests) out of the Bear and to other pubs and hotels nearby.

Arrived to a very small and cold room. Changed to a bigger room. Menu in restaurant not very interesting, and having to order to dishes for a dinner does not to me seem very appropriated. Being on a diet for health reasons make it difficult to choose anything in the restaurant.

Checking-out Christmas party going on whilst we tried to have a romantic dinner for two. Food was poor and over-priced. Service was also poor from staff who tried hard but were clearly not experienced. The champagne was flat.

The staff were very helpful and friendly and the hotel is situated very conveniently next to Blenheim palace in the beautiful village of Woodstock. The hotel is of great historic interest and claims to be haunted! No sightings during our stay however!!! I think that the food is over priced
