Genuine old building with creaky floors. Friendly professional staff. Comfortable rooms with old but modern charm. Quiet & peaceful location. Good Breakfast but terrible toast soggy & chewy and realy just slightly browned bread which is not toast! The Full English can have extras but make sure you ask or baked beans come by default. No cot in our room as requested and was told "you did not request a cot" when the receptionist looked on our form it was requested!

The room was so romantic. Beamed ceilings - room 40 - crystal glasses - little touches. Toiletries - there could have been larger quantities and conditioner and body lotion.

Checking-out Christmas party going on whilst we tried to have a romantic dinner for two. Food was poor and over-priced. Service was also poor from staff who tried hard but were clearly not experienced. The champagne was flat.

The staff were very helpful and friendly and the hotel is situated very conveniently next to Blenheim palace in the beautiful village of Woodstock. The hotel is of great historic interest and claims to be haunted! No sightings during our stay however!!! I think that the food is over priced

Cosy rooms/lounge, good choice of food/wine, friendly attentive staff, all in the middle of a lovely village Only negative would be we found the constant music being piped through in the bar/particularly in the restaurant at breakfast time a bit unnecccessary - the place has enough charm & character not to need music being played continuously

Location being on the doorstep of the Palace; we had a wedding to attend there. Staff very friendly, village peaceful and the sense of security. We were upgraded to an executive twin which was lovely. Room service breakfast was on time and the food was still hot when it arrived which was wonderful.

Lovely old hotel; friendly and helpful staff; well-appointed rooms. No bath; excellent evening meal spoilt (a) by faulty fire alarm going off, necessitating evacuation of whole building, and (b) appalling choice of intrusive (Christmas) music.

I had a very spacious room with a four poster bed which was lovely. It is great you can take your dog, even a little basket and blanket for them provided in your room. Many thanks. NB:There is now a £2 charge to pay with a credit card.

It was well managed and the staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were good value for money and there was ample selection As we paid for and stayed in a feature room I thought a little more attention could have been paid to the booking. The tv could have been used to welcome us to the accommodation and possibly some flowers etc. In paying a premium I expected a little bit more attention to detail and some little treats to make the weekend a little bit more special.

Nothing, I wil never stay at a Macdonald Hotel again, and I would not recommend them to anyone else! The most unhelpful staff I have ever encountered!

The location, right next to Blenhim Palace , is excellent and the actual hotel nicely restored. The rooms are rather cramped for the price and the airconditioning so loud that it had to be switched off at night. There is alot of noise late at night in the main part of the hotel, partly caused by the night staff. With the exception of one young man who was extremely helpful as reagrds local advice, staff were unfriendly and inefficient. Service in the restaurant and bar was particularly slow and poor - 25 minutes to produce four coffees on a quiet Saturday afternoon, champagne served luke- warm, etc. The food in the restaurant (dinner and breakfast) was poor, with a limited choice and very odd combination of ingredients and small poritions. Overall very poor value for money.

The service was excellent and our room was very well appointed and comfortable. Our daughter lives in Woodstock and we were able to celebrate her birthday by entertaining her to dinner and breakfast at the Bear Hotel - which, thanks to the superb cuisine, quiet ambience and attentive service made it a special occasion for her.
