It is centrally located, close to rail and bus stations. Breakfast is included in the price and there are special dinners a few times a week that offer excellent value for money. The room was a little worse for wear and could do with some updating. Having said that, it was clean and comfortable.

Its location. It looked tired and run-down The carpeting needs renewing, - everywhere. The two members of staff we dealt with were polite, but far from warm and friendly. The car parking was good, right behind the hotel. It would have been helpful to know how to get there!!

The location in central Havant is good. Close to shops and transport links. Large car parking facility to the rear of the hotel... The hotel benefits from having no real competition in the town of Havant. It desperately needs investment by the parent company, as the furnishings, and quality of cleanliness, are generally poor. Televisions range from old style CRT models (with only 4 channels) to more modern LCD versions with freeview. It would appear that double rooms have the latter, with single rooms having the former. Whilst the price was relatively cheap, it was reflected in the quality of the rooms. I would sincerely suggest that investment be carried out to at least replace all older model TVs with newer ones, and room 1 (situated above the boiler room whose noise resonates through the floor/bed, and a staff access door which was let slam shut a couple of times during the night) be removed from the hotel's available room stock. I suspect that this suggestion will not be acted on, however, and until some competition emerges comments like these will continue to appear, and will continue to be paid lip service to by the parent company.

Breakfast was ok. That was all. Otherwise, not recommended. Decor - rubbish! Hasn't been painted since queen victoria stayed there. Grimey, dirty. The last room available in the area that night (29/10/2011) due to great southern road race next day.

The Breakfast was nice, the bed was comfortable. Built in 1724 it has managed to retain the original carpets. Threadbare going up the stairs and in the room. Whatever you do do not ask for a extra splash of coke in the Bar as you will be told that they have to charge double ( No wonder the Bar was empty all afternoon and evening. )

Breakfast plentiful and very friendly service. Rooms in need of urgent decoration and carpet replacement, although the wonky wardrobe and utilitiy table did provide some character.

It was comfy warm and quiet. Shower hot and powerful. bit dated and tired decor - ie chips in the paintwork and bathroom needed retiling. Toilet hadn't been flushed properly - bit of an oversight by the cleaner / previous guest!

Being told by a member of staff that if I wanted a drink, I would have to use the public bar, not the restaurant bar.......when the restaurant bar was clearly being used !

Excellent staff, good location for my purpose. Great breakfast. Meals very reasonably priced. It is indicative of Havant, the town. Needs a general upgrade. Carpets, fixtures & fittings. Bathroom etc.

It was central. I enjoyed my stay, but felt the hotel was tired and dated. The kettle did not work and there was mould on the bathroom ceiling, the room smelt of damp.

The bed was very comfy! Staff were polite - Especially the young lady serving a delicious breakfast - she was a true delight being so happy in the morning - it set me off in the right mood! Desperately needed to be modernised on the accomodation side. Windows were awefull and window frames were rotten. The shower was from the 70's and would only provide luke warm water. There were alot of stairs to carry my bags up and down.

Found the staff very friendly and courteous both reception and restaurant. The breakfast meal was superb. Ample parking for hotel guests. The location of the Inn is handy, right in the town centre & within walking distance to Waitrose & Mall. A lovely and convenient Inn but was let down by the interior of the room; hotel really needs a facelift. The window in the room could not lock fully, hinge to bathroom door loose, carpet & room furniture dated bringing out a stuffy & dull atmosphere. Hotel carpark can only be found after you've done a round or two of the town; not signposted well enough.

Dining room and location good Room was not up to expected standards - decor shabby, carpets very worn and lumpy bed. I was in a room on the top floor which didn't even have toilet paper (or holder) which is a basic requirement. Car park is very difficult to locate if you don't know the area (narrow back street in a one way system)

The hotel staff were very helpful and polite. The resturant food was very good. I have been staying at the Bear hotel for over 25 years. On this occasion I found the general state of the whole hotel very run down, torn curtains, threadbear carpets, old dining furniture, rotting window frames. The whole place wants a complete overhaul. I will not be booking there again.
