It is centrally located, close to rail and bus stations. Breakfast is included in the price and there are special dinners a few times a week that offer excellent value for money. The room was a little worse for wear and could do with some updating. Having said that, it was clean and comfortable.

The location in central Havant is good. Close to shops and transport links. Large car parking facility to the rear of the hotel... The hotel benefits from having no real competition in the town of Havant. It desperately needs investment by the parent company, as the furnishings, and quality of cleanliness, are generally poor. Televisions range from old style CRT models (with only 4 channels) to more modern LCD versions with freeview. It would appear that double rooms have the latter, with single rooms having the former. Whilst the price was relatively cheap, it was reflected in the quality of the rooms. I would sincerely suggest that investment be carried out to at least replace all older model TVs with newer ones, and room 1 (situated above the boiler room whose noise resonates through the floor/bed, and a staff access door which was let slam shut a couple of times during the night) be removed from the hotel's available room stock. I suspect that this suggestion will not be acted on, however, and until some competition emerges comments like these will continue to appear, and will continue to be paid lip service to by the parent company.

The hotel has character. It is located very close to the railway station and town centre, easily accessible to adjoining areas. The staff is freindly and the food is good.

I had tea making facilities in my room and a wall mounted digital t.v /radio which provided relaxation before retiring early after a bath with plenty of hot water. I had to meet a coach heading for the continent at 5.15am from Market Parade so the location of this hotel was ideal with a ten minute walk away . The Bear Hotel has a poor reception which is not welcoming;rather tired and run down ,with poor decoration and a smell of greasy food . The booked automatic alarm system does not work so make sure that you have your alarm set up on your mobile if you have an early deadline.

This was an overnight stay prior to catching an early ferry to the Isle of Wight for a family visit. On arrival we received a very warm welcome from the receptionist. As it was a late arrival we decided to eat before going to our room. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and we had an enjoyable meal which was good value for money. After getting our luggage from the car we were helped with it to our room by the receptionist. As we were very tired after a longish journey, we went straight to bed. Extra pillows were in the room as requested and the beds (my daughter and I had a twin room) were extremely comfortable. We both had an excellent night's sleep followed by a delicious breakfast. All the food was tasty and locally sourced. The location of the hotel was perfect in it's proximity to the ferry. Our room was very clean and quiet with appropriate facilities. We will definitely stay here again. The decor could definitely do with updating and the bathroom let the room down. I suggest that it is refurbished as a matter of urgency as it affected, which would otherwise have been, a very good stay.

We arrived with a sleeping 3 year old and our room (6) was not far from the car park. It was lovely to have a comfortable bed to put him in and I enjoyed a nice cup of tea in the room while my husband brought a pint of beer up from the bar. Breakfast was magnificent. Something for everyone. Fresh fruit, cocoa pops, toast and marmalade and a delicious kipper. The service was very attentive and friendly too . The converter to change the water from shower to bath was broken and the room was a bit cold in the morning.

Very friendly, helpful staff. Good room sizes. Very clean and comfortable. Restaurant in building and excellent breakfast choices. A 'homely' atmosphere Unfortunately some of the decor was very tired I.E. threadbare stair carpets and paintwork outside but somehow the cleanliness and staff attitude managed to compensate for this!

The Bear Hotel is conveniently located on the south coast, is reasonably priced and serves a good breakfast. The hotel is very tired with well worn carpets and decor. The bathroom was particularly grubby with absolutely nowhere to hang anything, and only the back of the toilet to stand anything.

Friendly service, especially Lacy who ran the bar at night and the restaurant in the morning. Chatty, pleasant. Good evening meal, plentiful menu, good service. Bar prices very reasonable for a hotel. Decor a little "tired" in places but one cannot really complain at those prices. Superb breakfast. A good stay but slightly spoilt by the noisy blokes in the restaurant complaining about the food. I think they were locals as they knew the staff names but may have been travelling contractors. The situation was superbly handled by the manager and Lacy, the bar person.

They found a secure place on site to store our bikes over night. Comfortable bed and spare pillows provided. Pool table Very cheerful and helpful waitress serving breakfast sunday 4th March They made my son a bacon sandwich before breakfast to take away Being told,on check in (without us actually enquiring), that dinner was served until 9.45pm,then to come down at 9.30pm to be told kitchen had closed. They did serve us but felt like we were putting them out. Fairly shabby bathrooms

Location and car parking facilities. Original part of hotel very attractive. "New" part of hotel which includes most of the bedrooms and dining facilities looking very worn and threadbare. All needs a good coat of paint.

The staff, service and food was excellent. The Bedroom was exceptionally "tired" and the bed linen was stained. Could be a really nice place to stay if someone invested some money in some basic redecoration.

The staff are always very helpful the rooms are always clean and tidy and the breakfast is always good My partner and I are in our 60's and nearly always have a room near the top, so a lift would be very helpful to us.although I believe there are single rooms on the bottom floor, this is no good for couples.
