The best thing about the Hotel was checking out, rude staff on check in, poor food , hot rooms and noisy guests.... Be warned if you book the luxury rooms you are above the wedding function rooms and sleep is impossible, we booked 2 rooms and upon check in we were not told of the wedding we arrived back at the hotel to a disco so loud it was impossible to sleep .I had to move 2 of my children in smoking rooms at 10.30pm and I was told we never should have been allocated the rooms and we should have been told about the wedding, too little too late, don't stay, staff are useless and rude and it ruined our entire wk end. Pool is cold and over chlorinated....

The hotel has a homely feel and is very welcoming. The rooms are very nicely done out. The food was excellent. The restaurant staff seemed inexperienced, so the service was polite but slow. I was in room 120 which was lovely, but there was very little soundproofing between that and 119.... I heard a lot of conversation etc. quite clearly.

The hotel is comfortable and great for a business traveller owing to it's location. Having to pay for car parking is a terrible idea and when asked why this has been introduced - I was told it was to stop people parking and then walking in to town. The guest are then being penalised as a result - this is a very unpopular introduction. The wi-fi in the lounge area is slow and intermittent and you have to pay through the nose if you want wi-fi in your room. The food is good - but, expensive and the staff were very frosty and a little autonomous.

Central location adjacent to the canal. Also near to shopping facilities. Peaceful and picturesque location. Comfortable rooms. Disappointed and surprised that we had to pay £5 to park our car in the hotel car park. On arrival reception did not have details that we had booked our room including breakfast. However, what we were most disappointed with was the service and quality of breakfast. It was busy with insufficient staffing, we were sat at a table that wasn't laid, then missing cups and cutlery. Attitude of one particular waitress was poor. Not particularly speedy at replenishing food and drink items. The cafe round the corner was much cheaper and great value for money!

We asked if we could change our reservation date . This was not accepted. They charged us for our two small dogs but refused to let us have a bowl for water for the dogs. Breakfast: despite many free tables we had to wait 20 mins for a table- The s Jacuzzi was Luke warm swimming pool small.

Good location by the river Everything was a little tired, the tv remote did not work, the hot tub was out of action, at breakfast we had to ask for milk because they only bought one little jug for a table of about10, the coffee pot leaked and the tea never arrived.

Beautiful building and good location Was automatically charged for car parking when I hadn't used the car park. The car parking should be free as a guest of the hotel, not an additional expense.

We have stayed at the Swan and have always enjoyed the facilities and surroundings especially being next to the river. The Swan is a lovely hotel, and you 'pay for what you get' which is not a particularly cheap one night stay, were therefore very surprised when asked to pay £5 parking fee and 60p for use of the phone!!

The location was very pleasant as were the views. We particularly enjoyed the food; both as room-service and in the restaurant itself and the waiting time was minimal. The additional bonus of having the use of the spa and pool was wonderful! We were fortunate enough to experience the Victorian weekend in Bedford town, which was an unexpected occurance and made for a great shopping spree. The only thing that could have been improved upon was the shower in our room that didn't function effectively, but the bath made up for it. The rooms were excellent, clean with every convienience. The pool area was very pleasent. On arrival the desk staff were very helpful. The only thing that ruined our stay was the evening meal. When I say ruined it I mean actually ruined it. It was to be our christmas meal together for me and my sisters to get together from various surrounding areas with our elderly mother. We ordered the christmas meal and was very dissappointed indeed. The turkey was im sure not of an actual bird, more of a turkey roll, roast potatoes were reheated and tasted of old fat, sausage and stuffing were cold , to add to that my mother was extremely sick after eating the meal, we paid for the meal, complained at the desk, the duty manager said as we had paid she wouldnt refund us but gave us a voucher to use at the hotel. Hopefully we will return to use the voucher , hoping your restuarant has made great improvements.

The room was quiet, except when some guest set off the fire alarm. The staff were friendly. Parking was easy and under cover. The Christmas lunch was enjoyable and good value My only niggle was that the shower control was stiff and difficult to operate.

It was a comfortable hotel and fairly high quality. The location on the river by the old bridge makes it attractive. I was disappointed to have to pay an additional £5.00 to park my car in the car park. I expected this cost would have been included in the overall of the stay. The room was very warm but I could only open the window a few inches at the bottom of the window. The party going on under my room did not finish until after 1am, this would not have been good had I needed an early start.

A lovely hotel in an excellent position. Rooms comfortable and clean. The restaurant staff were charming. The breakfast was very disappointing. Tough bacon, hardly cooked sausages and not much choice. The reception staff seemed over worked so not particularly friendly.

The location and rooms are great. Lovely bar with river view. The parking was not included and cost me £5. When my business colleague arrived the charge had gone up to £10 which I think is outrageous (and was embarassing - we moved the car in the end).
