The best thing about the Hotel was checking out, rude staff on check in, poor food , hot rooms and noisy guests.... Be warned if you book the luxury rooms you are above the wedding function rooms and sleep is impossible, we booked 2 rooms and upon check in we were not told of the wedding we arrived back at the hotel to a disco so loud it was impossible to sleep .I had to move 2 of my children in smoking rooms at 10.30pm and I was told we never should have been allocated the rooms and we should have been told about the wedding, too little too late, don't stay, staff are useless and rude and it ruined our entire wk end. Pool is cold and over chlorinated....

Great location, great views. Right near the town centre. Although the rooms were fine we would have liked a bigger bed (used to bigger so personal) we also found it very noisy, particularly in the mornings. We heard young children in the room next to us and also people talking outside in the corridors very early (6am ish.) it would put us off staying there again which is a shame as the hotel was quite nice. Also thought internet price etc was excessive.

The breakfast was poor. The coffee undrinkable and the bar prices were very expensive. Prices too high. Not happy to pay to park.

The pool is very small and the area uncomfortably hot. There is no toilet in the pool area so as there are no signs in the pool area you have to wander out and around the hotel to find it. Went down for breakfast at 7.30 (when it is supposed to start) as we have to get away early. Hardly any of the food was out. There was bacon, potatoes, mushroom and tomatoes. The staff were disorganised and didn't even apologise for the lateness of the food. The bacon which supposedly had been just brought out was cold. The sausages finally arrived 20 minutes later. Total incomptetance

Was much better than expected. If they lost some of the tacky advertising, it would actually be quite swish. Staff we nice though some were not actually friendly. We were pleasantly surprised. My treatments in the Spa were fantastic even though reception has you sat amongst people having their tea and you have to shuffle through to the pool through dining guests. We enjoyed it.

The bar staff were really friendly. The shower/bath taps. Awful design/engineering. I expected free parking. Need better options for breakfast breads other than just white or brown. Need bagels, multigrain etc.

Front of house staff extremely rude and unhelpful. Manager much more so, but annoying that I had to ask to speak to her. Everything is chargeable, from parking, to £10/day internet access, to the morning newspaper. Reminiscent of a budget flight in that respect.

The cosy oldy worldie feel with a mix of modern. Cosy fireplaces, full of character and little nooks and crannies, set next to the beautiful river in prime position. The breakfast, though the quality of the food was excellent there wasn't enough staff to fully man and keep the food fully stocked. No one insight to ask for empty items such as butter, eggs etc etc let alone to be asked if you'd like tea or coffee. But don't let this put you off coming. I came as part of a wedding party but would love to return for a romantic brake away

Breakfast Service 1, They did not have the booking on their system. 2, I was told that their was no booking 3, I showed them the confirmation from my pc and they still stated that the booking was not confirmed. 4, I had to take a new booking and pay their standard rate, which was more expensive than that I booked at. 5, the spa was not working , Cold Water. I would recommend the Hotel, but they need to improve.

location I did not like the room was freezi cool because the window was open that was 10.00pm i try to close the window but failed I had to get the staff to come up to closed it for me at that point she also put the heating on for me , all this should be done before I go in to my room although I check in at 6.00pm but I did not enter to the my room until 10.00pm, the girl who help me to put the heating on she much put it to the maxi , by 2.00am mid night it was so hot and i was sweating, after that I could not get back to sleep,I was very disappointed, when I check out the staff did not even ask me anything about my stay apart "did you had bedfast in the restaurant" if she had asked me I would point this out to her so it would not happen to your next customer, especiaily in this cool weather,

The old building. The room was good and met expectations. good view of the river. Facilities were good but our food experience was poor. Would be happy to recommend Swan for the facilities bu would give reservations re the food. The breakfast was not up to expectations, 4 out of 10. The Variety of ceriels was limited, eg no museli. The fruit additions was small, only sultanas, dried apricots, orange slices. The cooked breakfast was not really hot and rather dried out. the coffee was over strong, no hot milk. have been to Premier Inn few times where there is a much better selection and food 'fresher' and the cost cheaper.

Having lived in Bedford for 25 years until recently, and frequently patronised the Dining Room and Coffee Lounge, this was our first stay (no concessions or recognition for loyalty!). The Hotel is very conveniently situated in the Town Centre, which is steadily being enhanced, and has a splendid location overlooking the River - which has many activities, even in winter: its little coffee nooks and crannies are a splendid feature. Staff were most pleasant and efficient, and dealt with the one issue we had very expeditiously. Information about the Town (except for details of the Swan itself), its history, and Church Services etc is, however, not easily to hand - a pity, because Bedford has much of interest. Like many hostelries these days, management seemed a little short of "feel" for the locality - Very nice refurbishment - prices a bit high though.

We were immediately attracted to the building and decor. Could not fault the staff. Food fantastic although we did have a long wait for our main course. A dirty wall in the corner of our room which was otherwise spotless.
