In the heart of lively Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight, the George Hotel is an elegant 17th-century town house boasting picturesque views overlooking the harbor and good food. All rooms at the George are well furnished and individually decorated. They all feature a private bathroom, comfortable beds and TVs. Overlooking the Solent, the hotel brasserie serves excellent seasonal cuisine, with an emphasis on seafood. Guests may also relax by the log fire in the cozy wood-paneled bar and enjoy afternoon tea or cocktails. Local activities in this bustling community include sailing, paragliding and kayaking. A first-class hotel The restaurant menu is ludicrously prententious and expensive

Staff very helpful and friendly they could not do enough for us. The parking for the hotel should be on a permit as we had to park in the car park at least 1/2 a mile from hotel. Not free but cheaper than 6.50 for 24 hours.

The location and the ambience are amazing. The George is a place we have visited many times but this was the first time we had actually stayed there. Yarmouth is a special place for us any way but The George just makes it that bit more special.

Wonderful views across the Solent. A charming Georgian building, very handily situated just minutes from the harbour where we left our boat.

staff were friendly and welcoming. The hotel felt cosy and warm. Breakfasts were nice, good choice. Bathroom floor could of had a wipe over on change over day, but it was otherwise clean. well stocked with little touches, sweets and toiletries and water.

Waiter service, restaurant, porter to carrry bags. Although fairly comfortable the room did not match our expectations. We had previously had a meal in the garden and liked the ground floor of the hotel. Our room, No.11 Was opposite the harbour and although we anticipated noise from the ferry, we did not expect to be woken up about 6am in the morning by a very loud bottle collection . Not good value for money.

the breakfast was so nice and we had it in the restaurant with lovely sea view, i would recommend it to all my friends, as the rooms are nice and the staff are friendly. it will be quite difficult for travellers who doesnt have a car on the island, the location is far from the sandown and other attractions.

Very helpful staff - we were on ground floor (room 1) and were able to park our motorcycle in the garden, outside the room. The room had both a wet room/shower and separate bathroom. Lovely location beside the water and the castle. Good breakfast choices. Breakfast rather slow when busy. Bed not as comfortable as some (2 singles bolted together)

It was a very comfortable stay - staff pleasant and food and room very good. I would stay there again. Only small point - parking in pay carpark adjacent to the hotel. --Free from 6pm to 10am - so have to get cracking in the morning

This is a very old hotel which has been very sympathetically upgraded and modernised. It is in a fabulous position in the centre of the Georgian town of Yarmouth, overlooking the western Solent. Highly recommended. No complaints except that the room prices do become very high in summer, although given the location this is not surprising.

The atmosphere was very friendly and relaxed. The rooms had every luxury you could imagine for a traditional 'old fashioned' hotel. There was almost every conceivable item you might have forgotten in the bathroom as well as an often forgotten face flannel, two bathrobes and free bottles of water in the room (something you don't even get in 5-star hotels nowadays!). Although there was no tea or coffee facilities in the room, these were available via room service free of charge and it was delivered piping hot (thank you!). View from the window of the seafront was great - we may have just been very lucky? We would stay there again without any hesitation. Only criticism would be the bed - it was very firm and the pillows were too hard.

We liked everything about the George Hotel. The staff were very friendly and attentive, the food was excellent and the room we stayed in was extremely comfortable. The view from the dining room was lovely. The residents sitting room was warm and cosy with a log fire and elegant furnishings in keeping with the period of the original house. We would have liked a stronger wi fi signal, it was a little bit patchy and as we were there on business it did make it quite awkward.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The staff were always attentive the food excellent and the location ideal. The room (with its own courtyard garden) was beautiful. There is plenty to do in the area for a short break. The only drawback at all is the lack of free parking at the Hotel itself.
