Lovely hotel, quaint without being "old and dusty". The friendliest and most helpfully staff of any hotel I've stayed at. Great view of the pier from the dinning room.

Elegant and comfortable hotel in fantastic position. Have stayed there twice and on both occasions have loved the rooms and enjoyed the splendid views from the restaurant - matched by the splendid food.

Excellent location Yarmouth is a little gem with lovely surrounding sea and landscapes. The hotel building is very interesting historically and tastefully designed. The service excellent. Our room was on the top floor we found the stairs a little difficult to climb, the bathroom door did not close properly and the shower had a leek. We should have also liked tea making facilities in our room.

The room was stunning - letting in natural light, we had a private patio equipped with garden chairs, perfect as the sun was shinning. The decor of the room was good, and it had a lovely large bathroom. Hotel staff left you alone and there was a wonderful selection of food for breakfast and dinner. The room was cleaned daily and supplied with fresh towels. If only we could've stayed for another night - 2 nights just wasn't enough

The George Hotel was the perfect place to stay for a peaceful few days with friendly and helpful staff, comfortable room, pleasant restaurant with good reasonably priced food, and located in a pretty village with a choice of other eating places. Perfect. Parking in Yarmouth could be a bit of a problem in the summer season, although at the time we were there we were able to park free between 6pm and 10am.

17th century ambience, antique furniture and artwork, central location in Yarmouth, good management. Parking is a hassle if you have an infirm person in your party. Ditto absence of lifts. Broadband service needs to be extended beyond the reception and bar areas. Dinner service was not as smooth or automatic as expected in this class of hotel; too few waiters. And a minor quibble: special order food requests to reduce amount of fennel on the haddock, and make latté coffee with no foam, were ignored.

It was a fantastic historical building that also felt very modern. The furnishings and decor were lush and didn't detract from the historic charm. Staff were very friendly and the food was amazing! We loved the George and can't think of anything that we didn't like about it.

Atmospheric with a strong sense of history while at the same time having modern facilities. The setting is supreme being right on the seaside and very near the harbour. The staff were very welcoming and relaxed as well as being professional which is ideal.

The George is a Hotel with character situated in the centre of Yarmouth. It strikes a good balance of an old building with interest and history and clean comfortable modern facilities. It is small enough to be intimate but large enough to have good facilites and to give a sense of space and privacy. The staff team were friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The food was good and fairly priced. Can thoroughly recommend the George and we will certainly go again! The arrangement for tea and coffee in the room could be a little simpler. We had no complaints.

We had a lovely stay at the hotel and had a great room on the first floor. Don't expect to see much in Yarmouth, we used the hotel as a base for walking around the west side of the isle. We used busses to get everywhere else which took an age!! The hotel itself was relaxing, modern, and very well decorated for an older building. Posh is a word I'd use. Excellent staff and great food. I would very highly recommend it , but only if you are able to entertain yourself if on a holiday.

This is a very old hotel which has been very sympathetically upgraded and modernised. It is in a fabulous position in the centre of the Georgian town of Yarmouth, overlooking the western Solent. Highly recommended. No complaints except that the room prices do become very high in summer, although given the location this is not surprising.

The atmosphere was very friendly and relaxed. The rooms had every luxury you could imagine for a traditional 'old fashioned' hotel. There was almost every conceivable item you might have forgotten in the bathroom as well as an often forgotten face flannel, two bathrobes and free bottles of water in the room (something you don't even get in 5-star hotels nowadays!). Although there was no tea or coffee facilities in the room, these were available via room service free of charge and it was delivered piping hot (thank you!). View from the window of the seafront was great - we may have just been very lucky? We would stay there again without any hesitation. Only criticism would be the bed - it was very firm and the pillows were too hard.

The location and the ambience are amazing. The George is a place we have visited many times but this was the first time we had actually stayed there. Yarmouth is a special place for us any way but The George just makes it that bit more special.

staff were friendly and welcoming. The hotel felt cosy and warm. Breakfasts were nice, good choice. Bathroom floor could of had a wipe over on change over day, but it was otherwise clean. well stocked with little touches, sweets and toiletries and water.
