From the moment we checked in and had a glass of wine in the bar, until the moment we checked out, it was nothing short of wonderful! Our evening meal was sublime, room specious and cosy and the bed was just superb! We love how peaceful the surroundings are, but, how near you are to the motorway too. We will definitely be back.
My one and only gripe, if you can call it that, was the fact the cleaners had just finished our room as we checked in, and it was done beautifully I must say, BUT, they had obviously used a mop that was past its best shall we say and left an unpleasant smell behind on all the floors that we couldn't shift the whole time we were there...A minor and easily remedied problem
Pub lovely, area lovely
Cold in pub- Fire not tended to, even when requested - refused! Our stay was not as good as previous years. Food good but not as before.
+ The staff wre kind enough to wait up for me as I said I was arriving late
- Terrible location, no sign posts and difficult to find (even with GPS) - The office closes at 8pm so had to go to their associated pub to pick up the keys - The room was quite basic and not adjoined to the main hotel, so if it rains, better bring a warm coat and a brolly..!!
Our Family stayed overnight And the staff made our stay most enjoyable. The Restuarant has a first class menu at reasonable prices. A special facility for our party was the ease of access to both the accommodation and Restuarant for wheelchairs. Overall friendly efficient staff with the bonus of an excellent breakfast
Was recommended the black horse inn by my parents and they were adamant it was the best place for my partner and I to spend our 3rd year anniversary. I was a little concerned about some of the reviews I had read regarding the hotel but was completely and utterly surprised. It was beyond my expectations and was perfect for us. A lovely room for us hidden away from all the noise and was just a little bit of paradise. If I'm honest I don't know why people complain about it! Food was out of this world as was the service. Nothing was too much trouble. What more could you want eh? Will definately be coming here again, even looking at the venue for our wedding. Thank you so so much!
No complaints whatsoever.
Staff went out of there way to help. food great, will go back.
The attention to detail was outstanding including a basket of sheets and towels for dogs. Plenty of parking, good sized room well equipped and even a small Christmas tree alight in the room when we arrived. First class food in restaurant and lovely breakfast.
The weather but that wasn't their fault!
Food, staff, location and comfort all very good.
What are the TVs about? Tiny, tinny old fashioned - still with didgy boxes - and worst of all cant see them from the bed! Time for an upgrade I think!
This pub serves outstanding good in a very comfortable pleasingly well designed areas within. Never had a bad meal there and mostly excellent ones with fantastic service
We stayed in the chalet style rooms which were slightly small and lacked luxury. Although quite basic the room contained all that one needed BUT our one window had a view of the driveway so lacked privacy. Didn't like it so decamped one night early.
Great dinner & evening location at the inn, pretty large rooms, well decorated and located within quiet & beautiful area, very friendly and supportive team, car parking directly in front of room, fair price
Mattresses too soft witth noticeable coil springs, very few space for clothing (six clothes hangers and some small commodes), bathroom lacking hooks (e.g. for towels).
If you like rural this place would suit you.
Smell in bathroom and bedroom. Suspect poor drainage. Did request action on this but the smell lingered. Evening meal poor overall not 4star. Not value for money.
Lovely comfortable warm room, the food was excellent in the restaurant
Ambiance of pub restaurant. Staff friendliness.Plenty of free car parking. Good food.
Prices were somewhat steep. Could feel springs in mattress.
Everything was perfect but I especially liked the fact that a flannel was provided and a cafetiere for coffee. The sort of things you usually only get in expensive hotels.
The traditional English pub atmosphere Friendly staff who offered top service Good food
Room facilities a bit basic in small houses at some distance from the pub.
Good food in the restaurant. Friendly enough staff. Could take bike in room with me.
Rooms were boiling. Paper thin walls. Not comfy.
best breakfast always
Friendly helpful staff. Rural location.
The staff were lovely, The food is great, lovely setting
* Food was great (ordered pulled pork and plaice in the evening, full English next morning). All very good * Staff very helpful in suggesting walks and providing route guides - it is near a castle ruin. * Very accommodating - lots of rooms, all spacious, and when we arrived a wedding was on but they had cleared away all tables ready for evening service to resume. * Good range of real ales in the pub.
* Pub gets busy, so may be a wait for drinks, but this is being very picky. * Some of the signage looks a bit dated, but again being very picky here.
Privacy and good food was excellent
Excessive use of air fresheners which we didn't discover until the following morning !
I was very surprised when I pulled into the accommodation car park and seen the cabins I thought I was staying in the pub but had a nice surprise on seeing the cabins .I was greeted by a very friendly receptionist which made me feel very welcome . the rooms were very spacious and clean . the pub its self was very busy but the staff was very helpful and friendly . the meal was just excellent I had ham hock fro starters which was just amazing I then had a steak for my main which was just cooked perfect and had an excellent meal . I had a choc desert which again was excellent .if you get a chance a meal here is a must.
not really a dislike but the only bad point was the narrow lanes leading to the pub .
Accomodation was very good in rooms at the back of the inn. Car parking right outside the door. There were umbrellas in the rooms for if it was raining. Food in the restaurant was excellent and the Romsey Marsh lamb which I had was some of the very best lamb I have ever tasted. The inn is down a narrow lane, the Pilgrim's Way, which some people might find a bit off-putting. Even though I drive a large car it was no problem and was also easy to find with my satnav. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. All in all, very good indeed.
Nice room, good breakfast, friendly staff
Pubs friendly with good food. Short walk to room, less than 2 minutes. Easy Parking, WiFi, Tea/ Coffee in room. Would recommend.
Television small but not a big deal if the only negative.
