Staff went out of there way to help. food great, will go back.
The attention to detail was outstanding including a basket of sheets and towels for dogs. Plenty of parking, good sized room well equipped and even a small Christmas tree alight in the room when we arrived. First class food in restaurant and lovely breakfast.
The weather but that wasn't their fault!
Food, staff, location and comfort all very good.
What are the TVs about? Tiny, tinny old fashioned - still with didgy boxes - and worst of all cant see them from the bed! Time for an upgrade I think!
This pub serves outstanding good in a very comfortable pleasingly well designed areas within. Never had a bad meal there and mostly excellent ones with fantastic service
We stayed in the chalet style rooms which were slightly small and lacked luxury. Although quite basic the room contained all that one needed BUT our one window had a view of the driveway so lacked privacy. Didn't like it so decamped one night early.
Great dinner & evening location at the inn, pretty large rooms, well decorated and located within quiet & beautiful area, very friendly and supportive team, car parking directly in front of room, fair price
Mattresses too soft witth noticeable coil springs, very few space for clothing (six clothes hangers and some small commodes), bathroom lacking hooks (e.g. for towels).
If you like rural this place would suit you.
Smell in bathroom and bedroom. Suspect poor drainage. Did request action on this but the smell lingered. Evening meal poor overall not 4star. Not value for money.
Lovely comfortable warm room, the food was excellent in the restaurant
Ambiance of pub restaurant. Staff friendliness.Plenty of free car parking. Good food.
Prices were somewhat steep. Could feel springs in mattress.
Everything was perfect but I especially liked the fact that a flannel was provided and a cafetiere for coffee. The sort of things you usually only get in expensive hotels.
The traditional English pub atmosphere Friendly staff who offered top service Good food
Room facilities a bit basic in small houses at some distance from the pub.
Good food in the restaurant. Friendly enough staff. Could take bike in room with me.
Rooms were boiling. Paper thin walls. Not comfy.
best breakfast always
Friendly helpful staff. Rural location.
The staff were lovely, The food is great, lovely setting
* Food was great (ordered pulled pork and plaice in the evening, full English next morning). All very good * Staff very helpful in suggesting walks and providing route guides - it is near a castle ruin. * Very accommodating - lots of rooms, all spacious, and when we arrived a wedding was on but they had cleared away all tables ready for evening service to resume. * Good range of real ales in the pub.
* Pub gets busy, so may be a wait for drinks, but this is being very picky. * Some of the signage looks a bit dated, but again being very picky here.
Privacy and good food was excellent
Excessive use of air fresheners which we didn't discover until the following morning !
I was very surprised when I pulled into the accommodation car park and seen the cabins I thought I was staying in the pub but had a nice surprise on seeing the cabins .I was greeted by a very friendly receptionist which made me feel very welcome . the rooms were very spacious and clean . the pub its self was very busy but the staff was very helpful and friendly . the meal was just excellent I had ham hock fro starters which was just amazing I then had a steak for my main which was just cooked perfect and had an excellent meal . I had a choc desert which again was excellent .if you get a chance a meal here is a must.
not really a dislike but the only bad point was the narrow lanes leading to the pub .
Accomodation was very good in rooms at the back of the inn. Car parking right outside the door. There were umbrellas in the rooms for if it was raining. Food in the restaurant was excellent and the Romsey Marsh lamb which I had was some of the very best lamb I have ever tasted. The inn is down a narrow lane, the Pilgrim's Way, which some people might find a bit off-putting. Even though I drive a large car it was no problem and was also easy to find with my satnav. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. All in all, very good indeed.
Nice room, good breakfast, friendly staff
Pubs friendly with good food. Short walk to room, less than 2 minutes. Easy Parking, WiFi, Tea/ Coffee in room. Would recommend.
Television small but not a big deal if the only negative.
The bed was really uncomfortable, thin mattress, poor pillows
spacious rooms access to pub with lovely atmosphere beautiful rural location but close to major centres and access routes
The accommodation and the area ....
The pub although being very pretty the food for the price wasn't good but also there was nowhere to sit before going for our meal !!!! This was a Saturday though .... So maybe different on week days
The staff were very friendly, it felt like a typical English tavern, location great just off the motorway, yet convenient to the tunnel.
The old Inn Food
I did not really feel myself appreciated as a guest. The signs on the premises confuses, when you have booked a room at The Black Horse Inn. The room is not at all in the inn, but otherwise organized under a nother name. If you want to dine outside, you have to fight for a table on your own.
