location was key. food was good. bedrooms clean. free wifi and parking a plus.
despite friendly staff they seemed to lack experience or needed a supervisor. on arrival ,i had asked for an upper floor i was told it was ground floor, room number 5, i was told turn right after the bar, well that was a joke as it was worse than finding your way out of a maze! thankfully an elder man working there prompted help! we were a large group, service was slow, food was good but slow, staff very friendly but clearly lack experience. 45 minutes for tea, plus there were mistakes. the hotel should be rated as a 3 star and not 4 in my opinion.
Public areas, breakfast. Bar staff.
Dreadful bathroom in 155. Room above the bar and TV heard all night in room until we asked for it to be turned off. Very poor sound proofing between rooms. Next door room could be heard very clearly. Room not up to 4 star standard at all.
Facilities were great. people were very helpful esp the General Manager as one of us had a fall in the hall by tripping over, so they helped out the best they could.
People working at the hotel were trying too hard to please, so making too many mistakes, like overcharging for drinks. returning to the table without real cause. Restaurant was booked with Birthday party with Valentines guests in the same place making it difficult to enjoy your meal with your own party for valentines.
Location Real fire in bar area Breakfast was lovely Staff were incredibly helpful and friendly
Chipped milk jug at breakfast
Loved the room and the entire layout of the bar and restaurant areas. Staff were on hand to help you. Breakfast was amazing. It was our friends 60th birthday party. The food was good, the firework and the gardens just perfection.
Only one comment was the pillows were quite firm. Just being picky.
Friendliness and helpfulness of the staff
Location Comfort Starff Style
There was nothing in the mini bar, despite staying in a superior room, we were told that we didn't qualify?!?! There was no water in the room at all, and had to drink the pretty rancid tap water from the bathroom. Hardly 4* amenities. When asked staff just shrugged and said that 'I should have requested the mini bar be filled in advance...' Very odd.
Friendly. Did everything right
The rooms are so comfy , I stayed in a Superior Double at a very good rate. I didn't need to leave the room , and I slept really well .
Staff, location, style.
Room was a bit cold.
Great location, Gorgeous breakfast room.
Room a little tired.
Tv not working had to call reception for someone to repair. Room service breakfast no option for cooked breakfast on menu card
Friendly and cosy
Party ongoing to 0130 pm
Staff in bar etc very attentive excellent large bar and dining area very good wifi unlike other hotels i stayed at this week in london very comfortable room. all in all a very enjoyable stay
no major complaints at all Room perhaps too warm !
The room was comfortable. Location was good for where I wanted to be. Staff were chatty and cheerful.
This is clearly a conference hotel - I mistakenly thought it was a pub/hotel so was expecting more ambiance. Breakfast was nothing special. Bar tables looked a bit sticky - the bar tender was spraying and cleaning around us which was unpalatable., so we left.
General standard of facilities.
The room was cold on arrival. Turned up the heating and it took half an hour to get to a comfortable temp but after that fine. It was minus 2 degrees outside the least they could do was warm the room up before I got there.
Restaurant menu was very limited
The bull as awhole was nice
No tea seved with my breakfast could really have done with a cupa
Large and welcoming reception and sitting areas. Great breakfast. Comfortable beds and clean. We stayed over the festive season and the Xmas decorations were beautiful.
Clean, comfortable and great value for ££
No gym onsite
Decent sized room, bathroom and comfortable twin beds. Good breakfast choices. Quiet and peaceful ambiance, despite New Year parties ongoing. Plenty of parking. Easy to find on A40
Rather a long walk from reception to room but one lift was out of order so this may have added to the walk.
The staff are very helpful and even managed to open the restaurant for us after we missed the brunch. Very welcoming and easy going atmosphere.
We liked to spacious room, the comfy bed and the breakfast
We got cold and the heating was making too much noise so could not leave it on overnight (but the bedding was warm enough). The prices and reviews of the restaurant put us off so we walked into town and had dinner there.
