The food was excellent

Old fashioned rooms but they did have charm

It was ok and was reasonable value for money. The staff were very polite and helpful. The breakfast was good quality. With good service although some of the staff going it difficult to understand our English... But you can't have it all.

It was in need of repair in terms of maintenance. The radiator control was broken in the room and the towel tale fell of the back of the door. There was little things around which if repsirs eould have given a better overall feal! But wasn't s massive issue.

The jacuzzi, the 'quiet' location, the English breakfast, the smokers corner.

The tired aspect of the decor, the 'luxury room bed', poor English of the waiters.

Location. Very near the beach. The building looks grand

Room large for 3 people

Lift not working not informed had 92 yr old with 3 1/2 flights stairs, they were informed this was important when bkd., Only given £19.00 discount for 2 b/fsts which we queried as we bked only 1 night meal for 3 with b/fst inc. Manager just shook his head. Beds uncomfortable.

A beautiful building with lots of Edwardian character and charm.

On the day of our visit the hotel was like a ghost town. Friendly receptionist, but had to search for someone to serve some drinks. However the restaurant was very well staffed for breakfast. Can't but think that this fabulous building is not being used to its fullest potential.

Clean and everything you need. Room and hotel very nice. Dog friendly, bed and water bowl in room for our dog.

I liked the bed room we stayed in. Beds were comfortable, room was cosy and warm. The staff all were very friendly and helpful. Made one feel welcomed. The Hotel reception area brought one back in time with the ambiance.

In the bathroom, the toilet brush was extremly dirty, needed bleach. In the breaksfast room, the decor was very shabby. Were we were seated, in the bay window area, the paint on the windows had mould, all the paint was flaking. The carpet was thread bare. The chairs were scuffed. The parkay flooring was very worn down. The breakfast was done on the cheap. The orange juice was powder and tasted of it. The meat and cheese all processed and the fruit all tinned. Not a pleasant start to the day. The view of the garden needed weeding and tidying up.

Very good value for money. Imposing building and despite its age the room was in pretty good condition. Plenty of parking on the street plus a few spaces on the forecourt. It was clean, comfortable and the staff were very helpful. About 20 minutes (approx) to walk to the town centre. WiFi worked in the room, not just in public areas. Tea and coffee making kit in the room too.

We stayed only one night. Close to tunnel channel. Very nice area with sea view.Our room was nice and comfy.

-Location -Dog friendly. They even put a dog basket and bowl ready for him. -Room had a nice vibe. Victorian style, really nice.

-Dinner and bar menu could have been more variated.

Excellent Hotel, perfect for business users like myself

TV reception very poor for 2013. First time in several years I have had such poor reception. Really needs sorting fast!

Lovely character hotel

Minor things like plug fitting was broken in the sink - needs a little attention to detail.

The ambiance, the very friendly and helpful staff, the decor and the food.

The bed was hard for our liking, neither of us could sleep without waking up many times during the night.

the staff were very welcoming, friendly & helpful. We had a dog and they provided good facilities for him & made him welcome. Room, food & service was excellent. we will use them again

It had all of the facilities we required and the staff were very friendly and helpful. the room was spacious, clean and well heated.

There was nothing to dislike about the hotel.

Location and sea view/ Traditional old style luxury

We had a family room - it was HUGE! A large bay window overlooked beautiful grounds. Staff were helpful & considerate. We were traveling with our dog... when we entered our room there was a doggy bowl & bed just for her! I really appreciated that! Beds were comfortable. Bathroom was spacious & the shower was wonderful with great water pressure. Located a block from the Leas, the hotel was in a great location for sightseeing & it was an easy walk in to town. Hotel had a very "grand" feeling about it... like stepping back in time to a more gracious era... beautiful architecture, period features & large spaces with high ceilings make for wonderful ambiance!

Prices in the restaurant were a bit high. Hotel had amazing original features, but needs a bit of refreshing... paint was peeling on the window frames in the room. Wifi was erratic in the room & seemed to depend on whether the door in the hallway was opened or closed. TV was small & old... would benefit from a flat screen TV in the rooms.

The response, if any, for our requests for 2 faults to be rectified was slow - a light bolb needed replacing in our room and the bath/shower cold tap was not working.

The staff were friendly and helpful, the room clean and warm. We also had a good discount on the room, being pre-Christmas. Full marks to the hotel in general. I had read some reviews about the hotel which said the rooms were cold and very small. This was completely untrue as far as we were concerned - so I don't think these remarks should be taken seriously.

If anything the room was a bit too hot!
