Attitude of staff and limited parking resulting in road parking far from hotel
Breakfast was fresh with good ingredients. The hotel is a graceful old building, so that must be take into account.
The bed was small and had old worn mattress. The staff allowed guests to play the Piano at 1am which could be heard 2 floors up. The room was not ready by 20mins and we had a wedding to get to.
Just a little pricy.
The real disappointment was that we were promised on our booking confirmation a Jacuzzi bath, but we didn't have a bath at all only a shower. Really was looking forward to that soak!!!! Also would have preferred to have been served my Full English Breakfast. Going to a buffet with food being kept warm is never quite so good and the food is not really hot.
The family room was very spacious and clean
Parking is difficult, the roads around the hotel were very busy. There was a wedding at the hotel so it was a bit noisy & I had to ask someone to please move elsewhere when they were on their phone outside the room at 1am but that was probably just bad luck!
Folkstone tramps sleeping in doorways. Should be removed!
We loved the look of the hotel with its chesterfields and old fashioned decor. Our room was comfortable and clean with a great view.
One of the beds slumped in the middle due to broken base.
The Victorian feel of the hotel. Very nostalgic of the roaring 20s!!
A little austere in places.
Old fashioned, uncomfortable beds, very poor value for money.
huge bathroom Lots of storage Lovely views from window
Very warm in room, had been a very hot day and we were on top floor
Helpful staff on the reception and good managers. The building has an old world charm. Good car parking in the car park or on the surrounding streets. Comfortable beds and lovely linen and towels. Nice bar area with comfortable seating
Poor decor in our bathroom and huge problem with lack of hot water in second floor bedrooms. Dark decor in the dining room made it seem gloomy rather than luxurious. Limited sound proofing in bedroom so noisy people above could be heard. Mismatched bedroom furniture and poor drawer space for clothes. No quiet lounge to sit and read or relax.
the food in the restaurant was sublime
there was noting we did not like
Desk staff generally friendly and helpful. Location was very convenient for Channel Tunnel. Our dog was well looked after and was provided with his own bed and bowl.
Hard to find even with Satnav and no reply when tried to ring for help at 9.30pm. Foyer looked disused and bar was tired and dark. Room was small and very hot and decor tired and dated. One member of staff was rude when we purchased a bottle of wine.
The room was very clean and the staff were very pleasant
Felt the breakfast should have been included in the price as an extra £19 was more than it was worth
View from room was ok
Beds very uncomfortable, hotel meals and drinks very expensive, outside terrace area was dirty
Large rooms. Authentic old English hotel. Charming.
Loved the building and atmosphere, very comfortable room.
One staff member was snooty with us (never seen tattoos before?) the rest were nice and helpful, only big negative was there was a wedding reception which took over an entire bar, and the other bar closed at 10:30, we would've stayed much longer.
The location is brilliant
Not being able to park in the only disabled slot as the groom at a wedding had parked his Range Rover in two slots , on of which was the disabled slot and none of the staff were willing to ask him to move it.
Lovely old building, big family room, nice and quiet
We were upgraded which was fantastic. Such a lovely venue and decor
Noisy screaming children in the morning next door which woke us up very early.
Very close to sea front & channel tunnel.
Shower not too good in room 5. Very hot & couldn't add enough cold water so didn't bother.
The hotel was lovely and my daughter and i had a lovely view from our window with view of sea.
Nothing i could say i didnt like about the hotel
Friendly, Helpful and Motivated. A nice room with a magnificient view. Excellent Dinner. Needs to be nominated as nicest place in Folkestone. We will return soon.
