The staff were very friendly and professional and made us feel very welcome. We enjoyed the use of the leisure facilities. Our room was very tidy and comfortable. The food was very enjoyable and the service in the restaurant and bar, also on the reception desk, was excellent. We would like to stay at the Castle Inn again as we found it very relaxing and enjoyable.

Location was excellent easy access to Lakes, walks etc. Enjoyed use of the swimming pool and well equipped gym. We booked a suite and although not overly large it was comfortable and well appointed Breakfast very good Staff very friendly Bar food reasonable quality and choice but pricey, wine very expensive, we ate out on our second night for better value for money.

good location. a little off the beaten track so no where else to eat/have a drink with your evening meal, but beautiful views. food good though so not a real issue and option of either a 'pub' or posh restaurant. games room would have been potentially useful to keep out little one entertained had we been made aware of this facility. lack of atmosphere. they have all the conference rooms in the middle of the hotel leading to a very disjointed feeling. we had 2 swipe card 'keys' to our room which never worked at the same time. given different excuses by different members of stff for this none of whom showed any concern for this and all the excuses contradicted each other and were clearly not correct.

The area was beautiful with great walks and cycles, the room was spacious with a lovely view of garden and mountains, the bathroom large with a walk in shower room. and all that for a standard room. Breakfast was fab and the bar meals fantastic, we stayed two nights and ate in bar on both occasions. Staff very friendly and helpful, would stay again. Just the bed could do with a new mattress but that was all.

Comfortable Room Convenient Location Easy Parking We were charged £16.75 more than the rate in BW guide (in room). Receptionist said this was because we had booked through Booking.Com! though I thought I had booked direct with the hotel. However we were then told we had already had an upgrade - not previously mentioned! Food was disappointing. Poached Haddock Kedgeree x2 at breakfast was awful, all rice and peas, very little fish, and very dry. A bitter shandy, with a meal in the Bar, was very strange and undrinkable.Did not complain - would have taken too long - bar very busy.

The staff were very friendly. No maid service until the afternoon. No games room. Steam room worked when it wanted to! Bar closed on an afternoon, you had to ring for service. TV broken in main bar. We had 3 meals at the hotel and all 3 had something wrong with the order and I was charged £3 for room service and they got that order wrong too.

It was a relaxing break. The food was very nice, the staff in lakers bar were very friendly, very attentive and extremely hard working. The room was lovely but lacked a bath. The breakfast staff got it all wrong. Day one - Tea and toast come 10 mins before breakfast so both were cold. Day two - They brought us burnt toast and the wrong breakfast. Day three - I was still eating my cereal when all the breakfast arrived. In the spa, although there were signs up indicating no children under 12, we could not get in to the jaquzzi as there were about 6 kids in all between the ages of 3 and 8, with 2 adults. I was very disappointed there were no spa treatments.

We chose this hotel for the facilities - pool, sauna, jacuzzi etc - which were very welcome after a days walking - especially as January in the Lakes is only for the very brave! We also liked the spacious room and en suite with choice of bath or shower. The location of the hotel means you are more dependant on your car - we normally prefer to walk everywhere if possible

The location was excellent, the staff were very helpful, the facilities were very good, the building was in good condition and clean and the atmosphere of the place was very relaxing. We enjoyed those parts The hotel was used for weddings and functions at night so it was very noisy into the night, up to 1.30 am. That didnt allow us to get a good night sleep on both nights of our stay. There were also drunken men wandering the corridors quite early in the evening.
