Liked the location
Ordered bottle of wine on arrival around 4 p.m. - at 5.30 phoned to remind them about it. Asked on arrival to book a table for evening - told before 7 cos of a large party - said we needed to have a bit longer to relax and were allowed a table at 7.30. We ordered at 7.30 and still had not had anything at 8.15. I had to chase this which was surprising as we were THE ONLY people in the restaurant!! The waitress gave us two drinks to apologise for the wait. The large party (looked to be around 10 in number) were in another room. There was no atmosphere, the staff were obviously not happy in their job. The room was OK. Pool a little tired, sauna and steam rooms also. Apparently they have a Jacuzzi but haven't had it working for two years. Disappointing stay and will not bother going there again.
Great breakfast,clean and tidy.Strange atmosphere,staff a bit ignorant.
We booked a double bed and got two singles pushed together which was very uncomfortable.staff tend to leave you stood about while at the bar or reception, they see you stood there but always find somthing else to do!
Spa facilities Breakfast Staff Room size / bathroom
WiFi was poor Restaurant was expensive
Restuerant closed when other functions with meals were on
Swimming pool. Upgraded room was very conveniently positioned. Good standard of food overall.
Wi - Fi and phone signal were non existent in upgraded room and generally poor throughout hotel . No drying facilities for walking kit.
A rabbit warren of a hotel with no Central focus . Room smelled of smoke. Had a meal in the bar restraunt , ordered Cajun salmon salad. Was presented with a bowl of lettuce leaves and a small fillet of salmon. When I complained to the waiter he shrugged his shoulders!! Not what you expect in a 4 star hotel!!!
Amazing service from all the friendly staff they were more than helpful. The food was delicious throughout the hotel. The rooms and facilities were great.Overall an amazing place to spend your honeymoon.
There was nothing we didn't like everything was amazing.
Loved the food in restaurant also the leisure facilities staff in both were friendly .
There was nothing that wee didn't like
Food was nice. Bathroom facilities were great Pool, steam and sauna room were lovely The continental side of breakfast is lovely and plenty of choice.
The bed was two singles pushed together it was at odd heights with each other. Not impressed since it was supposed to be a more expensive room. Wifi was extremely poor in rooms thankfully free otherwise you would feel ripped off if you paid for it. The roof where the breakfast is served leaks badly when there's rain. For the cooked part of the breakfast we asked if we could leave off items as we didn't like there was no offer to replace them with items you did. So we ended up with 1 sausage, bacon and egg each. The picture of the hotel on this site must be robbed off google cause it looks absolutely nothing like that!! Overall its just not worth the money they are asking. If it were even £20-30 cheaper it would be less of a rip off.
The location Our walking Tripping round the lakes
On arrival told our room was different from what we had booked on Booking,Coms website ( Photos on website are incorrect with regard to what is being purchased) We proceeded to the room the hotel had supplied which was an Executive room, We checked again on our tablet and did the booking for a few days time the same as we had done previously. the reception agreed that it was easy to see that we had been under the assumption we were getting a different room to what we actually ended up with. Our second night the hotel gave us the room we were expecting explaining it was important that we take this issue up with yourselves, The manager has spoken to your company with regard to our complaint. We feel that your company did not supply the same room as was in the photos when booking was taking place. Also our first night was spent in a very uncomfortable bed, our breakfast was a disaster I got the right breakfast but my wife ended up with the wrong one, correct one arrived 15 minutes later when mine was finished. When we got our new room which was what we were expecting there were holes in the three piece seats, cobwebs ( we took the Manager to look at these ) Our second breakfast my wife ended up with caffeinated coffee after ordering decaffeinated coffee, this is not good for her as she has a heart condition which this aggravates. Again we pointed this out to the food and beverage manager ( Luke ) who replied when things start to go wrong they seem to really go wrong. We feel as a couple we looked forward to a few days away in a good quality room in the lakes with good service, sadly we only achieved enjoying the lakes as the hotel was a complete disappointment and nobody has yet taken ownership of the mistakes which were made. I look forward to your reply with regard to these issues, Moses the reception manager has spoken to yourselves with regard to the incorrect room issue. Thanks Jeff & Sue Stanworth
The peaceful and solitude surrounding. A place to unwind from the hectic of life. The leisure facilities was a bonus! And feeling fresh when we checked out, ready to return to the normality of life.
I don't have any issues about the hotel!
The staff were friendly and helpful.
There wasn't anything I didn't really like.
The hotel is nice but a bit dated. The room was a good size and the bathroom/shower was excellent. The leisure facilities were good with a nice sized pool, steam room and sauna. Food in the bar was very good but a bit on the pricey side. The duty manager Steve sorted any problems efficiently.
The bed was not good - it was certainly big enough, but it was two twin beds pushed together with a large mattress topper that had seen better days (all bobbled on one side and stained on the other!!). One single sheet covered this with no other bed linen!! Pretty awful. After complaining, the duty manager Steve sorted this out by arranging for more bed linen. Food in bar was nice but pricey for what was served - nothing started at £5.95 as advertised on website. Cheapest main started at £12. No selection of local ales in bar as advertised on website. Quote from website - "Our relaxing Lakers Bar is a favourite with all our guests. With an extensive menu, relaxing dining and local beers there is something on the menu for everyone. Main meals from £5.95"
Nice reception staff Liked the book sharing idea.
Breakfast staff need to be more consistent in their enthusiasm to please. Didn't like either coffee or tea at breakfast time. Was over concentrated in the pot. Was disappointed that the jaquizzi was closed for no obvious reason.
Lovely location, very quiet and the staff were all helpful and professional (apart from comment on my headline)
Immediately we arrived (in the dark by the way) we were looking for signs and parked up when we eventually found a sign. We were some distance away from reception so walked around (quite some distance) when we arrived at reception I commented that there was a large upright post that had a sign missing on it and that's why we missed the reception car park. The receptionist argued that there was a sign there (I checked and I was correct a post with no sign on it at the entrance to the reception area car park). I also commented that I had forgotton my swimsuit and asked if I could purchase one from the hotel - the receptionist said no - either go home to get it or go to Keswick the next day to buy one. I noted after I had been to Keswick the next day to buy a s/suit that there is a wall cabined displaying costumes for sale - not happy!!!! Apart from being given the wrong information on my arrival all was lovely but I am annoyed as I could have used the pool and facilities more often.
Staff all very helpful. Breakfast very good. Bed very comfortable and bathroom excellent. In general hotel very good
Booking with booking.com - not clear it was with them, thought I was booking direct with the hotel - not a happy experience with the booking, money taken when I was not expecting it. Also getting back in late at night, had trouble finding the correct door.
Bed was not comfortable.
Leisure facilities Food Cleanliness Friendly staff Excellent rooms
The room setting was lovely, as was the pool, sauna and steam room. The gardens are well kept and the views from some of the rooms are beautiful. The bathroom was good.
The pillows let the room down.It would have been nice to have a fridge in the room.
We used this hotel as a base The room was clean and comfortable The staff went out of their way to help us The food was a bit disappointing along with the price
The food and costs
The staff were friendly and helpful, the food was excellent, the room was large and bed so comfy.
Wi-fi was a bit hit and miss. No lift only lots of stairs.
The willingness to help and friendly attitude.
The room needed of updating. Very little storage
Good value for money and friendly staff. Breakfast in the dining room was very good.
Dining in the bar room, lighting was very dim, no atmosphere and an unimaginative menu.
The food - both dinner and breakfast were really good quality. Well done to the chefs and the kitchen. Front of house for dinner were really good; the breakfast team were less well-organised.
For dinner you were invited to sit in the conservatory for a pre-dinner drink, which was freezing cold! The restaurant wasn't particularly warm either; and neither were any of the public rooms.
