Right on the coast yet a short walk or bus ride from city centre and football stadium. Friendly people, adequately comfortable rooms. Excellent value for money.

Excellent stay, very welcoming and polite. Owner, although busy, took the time to ask me how I was etc. Had a sea view and and super breakfast. rustic and quaint. Made a change that week from all the faceless corporate hotels I stayed in.

Great staff. The room met my expectations. The shower was ok by british standard but still not good enough in my opinion. The water should run harder.

Unexpectedly comfy and friendly return to my old home town for a night out - Chaise staff were great and properly matter-of-fact! Lucky I didn't go for the Sunderland Centre Travelodge, having had a look at it later on - the sea front is much better even if I had to walk back there having missed the last bus! And I was "upgraded" to an en suite room, so the description below is not quite right!

The welcome was fantastic and all during the stay we were very well looked after.Recommend it to anyone and everyone. I hate to moan about anything in this hotel but the bed was horrible-far too soft, felt like sleeping on a balloon.Luckily I had a lot of ale so did sleep but woke early with bad back

This is much more then just a fantastic guest house. It is like a friend house with outstanding hospitality. Nice location with sea views. John, the owner was very helpful and even very early Saturday breakfast was no problem - try it with ***** hotel. Very, very nice people. The room was clean, tidy and comfortable, and I felt at home straight away. Soon I will stay there again.

John, the proprieter, is just lovely. He took great care of me. Incredible value for the price. Great food, beautiful sea view...just fantastic. Only minor issue was a weak internet signal that made the wifi difficult to use. But really, just not that big of a deal at teh end of the day.

“We stayed at the Mowbray Guest House for one night but would've liked to stay longer. Alison met us very pleasantly as we arrived even though we were over an hour early, but our lovely comfortable room was ready. She told us how to get to the town easily which was our purpose of the stay and just left us to come as we please. We had a beautiful cooked breakfast the following morning in gorgeous surroundings. A lot of effort has gone into this guest house to make it pleasant. We asked if we could leave our car in the ample car park belonging to them and this was no problem at all. I would recommend this guest house to anyone!!” Lorraine, Hartlepool |
