The Clarendon Hotel  

Reception staff polite, pleasant and efficient - but this IS their job. Breakfast choices and quality OK - but that is only to be expected

None of [section 3] above describe this place. Noise - windows did not close fully or keep out the noise of traffic and the drunks (some from the hotel). Pillows very spongy and most uncomfortable. Could NOT sleep at all!! The sink was VERY small indeed with a cabinet immediately above - needed to be a contortionist to wash or shave. When we returned in the evening - there was a broken beer glass [almost certainly from the hotel] just outside the hotel. Doorman was informed and came out with dustpan + brush. After some deliberation he decided it was not entirely on the hotel property (ie. not his responsibility) and walked away leaving a very serious hazard immediately in front of YUOR hotel. I'm horrified at such selfish inhumanity. Would certainly not recommend.

Generrally good friendly service, ready to help on hand and arranged taxi service straight away. Good buffet breakfast that added to the value for money.

Big comfy bed, friendly staff, good breakfast, value.

The staff are always very helpful and friendly. I was travelling with my mum and we were given a double room. When I told staff I had requested a twin room they were very helpful and manged to change us despite the fact that it was a bank holiday weekend and the place was very busy. We were very grateful.

Friendly greeting from receptionist. Professional & welcoming treatment by waiter at breakfast. Good standard of food at breakfast.

Gloomy bar for late evening coffee, with bad language coming from other customers. Room slightly shabby and smelt a bit stale. Only 1 bedside cabinet and a handle missing from the wardrobe.

No water pressure. Small towels. Cleaner changed the bedding and towels in the morning for the next person..even though I hadn't showered yet.

Nothing to not like

The situation of the hotel was great for us, with the station being just around the corner for easy access into London. Staff all very helpful, especially the lady who came to clean our room when I was not well. She had no problem bringing clean towels and lots of tea and coffee sachets for us. Many thanks to her! All in all though we would definitely return here.

Dinner in the hotel was not great . The waiting staff were ok but the food was somewhat lacking. With so many other options close by I would suggest you eat elsewhere. As we were the only diners in the restaurant that evening I think others had already got the message! Room service however was very good. Parking was also an issue when the hotel was busy.

Convenient location for the tube Blackheath is a very nice place to spend time in the hotel and its staff were great

Staff friendly and helpful. Room spotlessly clean, as was bathroom. Double bed, one of the most comfortable hotel beds I have ever slept in, pillows too. Great location with frequent bus links to nrby Greenwich. Blackheath, beautiful green space with a variety of bars and restaurants on doorstep. Will return.
