Location, quiet room My partner enjoyed the 'ulll English'.
Under staffed. Their stress impinged on us. Porridge was not nice, no croissant. Bananas and apples old and bruised. Eggs Benedict was egg on ham on toast with tasteless Hollandaise.
We got locked out twice. The bar was right next to our room and we could hear the loud misic and drunk people yelling till very late.
Went with a group of friends for the Christmas party. Food was delicious and arrived hot. Staff worked hard and the disco had everyone up dancing.
Not enough staff generally for a Christmas weekend especially on the main bar and at breakfast. Had to wait about 40 mins to be served breakfast. Again breakfast staff were working incredibly hard just not enough of them.
The bed Location.
The party all night. The smell of shit in the bathroom. (shower) The breakfast, 10 am.the sausage and bacon must have been cooked since the kitchin opened at 7am.
the wash basin was a joke, remove the bath install a shower and install a full size wash basin
The hotel and the area in general
shower is to die for!! easy access from the courtyard. slept very well - good bed breakfast is served till midday and good range to choose from. Ease of parking
family room is fairly small, there was only two of us and yet still struggled to move around. breakfast staff were not friendly or all smiles. having to wait for someone to attend the desk. no one was around - or they were busy.
The staff were very welcoming and helpful, always smiling and happy to accommodate. The food was fantastic! I really rate the English breakfast and steak in the evening was cooked perfectly.
Our bedroom was very hot. The shower had a mind of its own going from cold to very hot. Water pressure was good though. There was some mould on the net curtains. The plaster/paint in some areas was very flakey. The bed was comfortable though and tea and coffe available in the room.
Bathroom was modern. Reception and bar staff were lovely. Location excellent. Parking at rear.
The room was a bit smelly but I think it was due to new furniture. The room (20) was tiny! Heating was not on for us when we arrived so room was cold.
Nice old building with sensibly preserved character - not overly modernised. Staff friendly and helpful. Good food well presented. Nicely located on historic high street. Easy parking.
Unfortunately timed visit which coincided with very noisy Christmas party.....loud music until 1am!!!!
Well located Staff did refund price of breakfast
1) I requested gluten free for 1 guest. This information had not been passed on but I was assured they had gf bread for morning breakfast toast. This was not true, the cooked breakfast was cold and my husband was not offered any toast at all. It was in edible and not gf! 2) I paid for a deluxe room but there was a strong smell from the drains in the bathroom. Very unpleasant 3) the decor was poor throughout the rooms, doors were badly scuffed and wallpaper was peeling off the walls
Liked the room - as an older couple we were in the courtyard so no stairs - access to bar, High Street etc easy.Reception very friendly and helpful
Breakfast was a disaster! Kept waiting for a table in draughty hall for over 10 mins, table not fully serviced, serviette, saucer, knife missing. Order was mixed up and we had someone else's breakfast, had to wait for over 15 mins for complete order, when it came the eggs were overdone and cold, so not very good at all, needs some management I think. Spoiled the stay I'm afraid.
Lovely rooms, good location and has a good atmosphere. My husband, 2 children and I had a very nice pleasant stay.
Some of the staff were quite rude, the ones that weren't were excellent.
Pleasant rooms, decent en-suite with very big shower. Beds are comfy, rooms are nicely decorated. Staff are welcoming, breakfast is tasty. Good selection of restaurants around.
Staff were great as we had a noisey boiler behind our wall and they moved us no problem, would stay there again. Recomended.
breakfast, facilties, and everything else
Staff were realy helpful and friendly, especially our waiter who it turns out is an accomplished poet - he kindly gave us a couple of recitations over dinner. I'll try and update this comment with his name later.
My radiator didn't work, but no real problem, they provided a fan heater.
I liked the location and the feeling of history.we also had a wonderfully quietroom despite the fact there was a wedding reception both nights
The dirt in the corners of the window frames.
Location, facilities and staff
Had to wait a little longer at breakfast than I think we should have
Close to town centre, full of history and good rate for stay
Refused drinks albeit midnight despite being resident. Small room. Poor breakfast, I do not believe my kipper was grilled as it looked like a boil in the bag type. My wife's omelette was burnt and dry. Coffee was very weak and almost transparent.
Ease of access and value for money
Restaurant service a bit slow
Great room, nicely decorated and with a good en suite for a single room. The location is good for restaurant options as well as the hotel restaurant/bar.
The wifi speed was good, but didn't like that you have to sign up and grant permission for all your details to be used by third party companies.
Location, location, location! Ideally situated, central to Stony High St, clean comfortable rooms, all round, good stay.
Wifi was a bit patchy at times
Just a nice friendly hotel with loads of character
Waiting time at the bar decided to go elsewhere???
The location, friendliness of staff and the party that we attended in the function room
The smell that built up overnight and during absent periods from room was disgusting and unbearable. Although we kept adding water to the shower waste pipe trap it made little or no difference long term. The breakfast looked amazing by the description but lacked presentation and freshness appeal. It seemed that everything had been cooked earlier and reheated(or kept warm) until required.
