In the small village of Sheering, this 17th-century coaching inn is just a 15 minute drive from Stansted Airport, and offers modern rooms with free Wi-Fi in a traditional setting. The Cock Inn Hotel offers beautiful bedrooms with private bathrooms and modern facilities, with the friendly service and charm of a family-run village inn. The pub dates back to the 17th century, whereas the hotel was built in 2003 and has a modern feel. The Cock Inn restaurant serves homemade traditional meals, while the friendly bar has a warm, relaxing atmosphere. Cambridge and London are both just a 30 minute train ride away. Good location for what I required. Room was cold, I had to go to the bar to get warm. The food was so-so, with a little care it could have been improved a lot. Lambs liver was cooked to death and the 'gravy' was a strange brown/yellow colour with the texture of frogspawn. The 'creamed' potatoes had seen no cream. First course of deep fried brie was OK.

As someone who has to stay away from Monday evening to Friday morning in Harlow, It is ideal because of location and cost and the people who run it Chps wth everything but you cannot have everything

The Cock Inn was very quiet despite it being attached to a public house. Ample parking for guests. Close, but not too close, to motorway. Staff were very welcoming and attentive during our stay. If you stay on a Sunday evening, you do not get a cooked breakfast on Monday morning, which is continental and left outside your room. Tv in room only has standard five terrestrial channels (not even Freeview!).

There was a mix up with my booking via the internet in that I ended up with the double room and not the family room but when I rang the hotel they were very accommodating and ensured me that it wasn't a problem and they rang me back to confirm I had the room that I wanted. Check in was quick and easy and the staff very pleasant and accommodating. The room was spotlessly clean and very spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was lovely. I thoroughly recommend this hotel. We were a family of 4 attending a wedding locally.

Excellent value for money, considering the proximity of Stansted Aiprport and that it includes free Wi Fi and full cooked breakfast. Good Breakfast, friendly staff, quiet location, good sized, comfortable rooms...with Bath and shower (as opposed to just a shower). I would definitely stay here again.

Die Verbindung von Hotel und Pub / Restaurant ist sehr komfortabel, auch wenn das Essen im Restaurant nicht unbedingt der Hit war. Kein funktionierender Internet Access im Zimmer, sehr alte verfilzte Bettdecken.
