Score from 383 reviews Good
almost everything is value for money The duty manageress was excellent and very helpful
food plain and boring
When I booked, I had a special request re early access to the room. I had a swift and positive response from reception and they made sure everything worked out for us. The hotel is brilliantly positioned, full of character and we had a spacious room with everything we could need. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent, apart from the self-service tea-making arrangement.
The plumbing in our bathroom was rather antiquated and the shower made a terrible noise.
Friendly staff - large rooms.
Room was red hot due to a power failure which led to boiler resetting. Rooms are nice but very much country hotel style could maybe do with making them more trendy as they had a load of potential with there size.
there was a problem with the hot water but we were compensated for the inconvienience
Nice riverside location Sizeable room and bed Large bath Comfortable bed and linen Good food, but a bit pricey Real ale in the bar Decent WiFi in public areas Friendly staff
Constant droning noise from extraction system for the coffee shop below continued through the night, despite raising it with the staff who said it would stop at 6pm. WiFi could be better in the bedroom, signal was a bit weak though it worked, just slowly. Bedroom was a bit chilly, though it was a rather cool overcast day, even though it was mid August!
The hotel was spacious, parking was good. Food and drinks well priced, food well cooked and served Breakfast a bit disappointing, no fresh fruit or yoghurt selection Freshly cooked breakfast was good
Small bathroom a bit outdated. Would have preferred a pot of tea or coffee rather than self service from an urn.
Breakfast was good, general communal areas of hotel were excellent.
Springs in the bed, room also tired decor.
Breaskfast was decent
The room was a bit old fashioned and small
Friendly helpful staff. Clean good linen. One of the best breakfasts ever
Attentiveness and friendliness of staff Food
Vile disgustingly dirty bathroom and bedroom
staff friendly, room excellent, breakfast excellent
noisy traffic outside my window kept me awake most of the night, we were in a room that overlooked the main road.
The Staff were very helpful and caring, the hotel may be old but the facilities are good, food is lovely
Messed up with booking, was told we hadn't booked then hotel found booking then we got upgraded. Went to our upgraded room to find people in our room asleep! Would never stop there again. Quite a few guests had the same problem that weekend. Hotel needs to sort out booking system
I enjoyed the very tasty breakfast where there was a good choice to satisfy all.
I was at a wedding at Rockliffe Hall and found the taxi fare of £10 excessive. I can not fault this hotel or its staff, though.
Good selection for breakfast
Reception staff failed to take our bags up to our room, so when we arrived back from a wedding at 1am we had to ring the night porter again to retrieve our bags from reception.
Nice location, decent room. english breakfast.
Inexperienced staff. Long wait to be served at bar even though only 2 people plus me at bar. Bed not comfortable. Even though I paid in full the day prior to leaving, I still had a message and missed call from reception staff to enquire how I had paid. £290 for 2 nights not good value.
Large room and good size bed
Huge comfortable room. First reaction to the menu was disappointment but when the food arrived it was far better and more interesting than its description on the menu. Friendly, helpful staff. Quiet location.
External appearance need improvement.
Location. Value for money. Size of room.
Decor a little tired. Cold and hot, water having different supply pressures making regulating the shower extremely difficult.
Food was excellent!
Wonderful bedroom, large comfy bed.
Very noisy plumbing. Whenever someones toilet or wash hand basin used - the water running could be heard
the hotel was very nice
not enough staff
Room,situation and breakfast!
Room not serviced first two nights
