Score from 2 reviews Wonderful
comfortable and relaxing.. superb breakfast
rooms a little basic
Fantastic location unfortunately it was too dark to take a river walk, staff were very accommodating with every request dealt with promptly. room was exceptionally spacious and an enormous bathroom. Food was to a high standard and very pleasant room to eat in, would have loved to stay longer and would consider one of the Xmas offers if it wasn't too far away.
Only one criticism is the choice of real ales was very limiting which talking to the staff was about to be rectified.
Staff who understand customer service. The kitchen had just closed when I arrived (about 10 pm) but there was none of the usual shrugging of shoulders - an excellent hot beef baguette and chips was rustled up before the kitchen was locked up. Very helpful in every other respect as well.
We were in room 7 which is very large and spacious. Booked at booking.com for executive room and saved us over 50%. Food is to die for we had sausage n mash and the fish n chips. We will be back for the food.
Light in desk/seating area didn't work.
The staff couldn't have been more helpful when we arrived and helped with our baggage. Our bedroom and bathroom were spacious and just what we needed. We had already eaten before arriving, but I had a large glass of Shiraz wine in the lounge which was served at the correct temperature and was delicious. Next morning we had an excellent breakfast of smoked haddock with mornay sauce. We were sorry to have to leave.
I would have preferred more comfortable chairs in the lounge area without the TV. so that we could have our drink in comfort. However, a member of staff kindly made comfortable chairs available for us.
Spacious room.Good bar area.Excellent breakfast.
Hard bed.The room we were in was cold because the heating didn't work.I think a lift should be installed because there is plenty of space to do so.There were a lot of stairs to climb which is more difficult when elderly.
Lovely setting near the River Tees and opposite the village church. Large bedroom with double windows, lovely drapes and matching cream furniture. Really nice bathroom with extra long bath and posh toiletries. Very good meal in the gastro pub. Friendly and helpful staff.
the staff on Tuesday on our arrival were lovely, a lady who was leaving your employment on the day was absolutely lovely, friendly and helpful.
the fact you had run out of sticky toffee pudding haha
Staff really friendly and helpful. Place was lovely and clean Bedrooms were great with very large comfy bed. Sunday roast was lovely as was the full English breakfast.
Shower was pretty useless Bathroom needed a a revamp
Comfortable rooms & really good food.
Chief slept in for breakfast, so had serials & toast only.
The location [park like], staff nice, room ok, quiet enough
Bed could have been a bit firmer, so far to the room, almost got lost
Staff all helpful and cheerful. It was excellent value and we would stay again
Bathroom could do with some deep cleaning to include tiles and a bit of pollyfilla in some of the holes in the wall of bathroom and the bit above the window.
Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, quiet location. Lovely breakfast and quality of evening meal has always been excellent. Rooms have always been comfortable and warm.
Bathroom bit tired and could do with a makeover, shower hot but not very powerful.
The staff were friendly, professional and polite. Service and food in restauraunt excellent.
Bedroom and bathroom tired and extremely cold.
Good variety for breakfast, staff very friendly
No hot water to have shower or bath after a long journey to the hotel in the evening, problem was still not fixed in the morning before we checked out, bed mattress very uncomfortable so neither of us got a good nights sleep
Interested and caring staff in the main but let down by a temporary general manager. Excellent food, well prepared and presented.
Dodgy central Heating system for the bedroom wing we were in.
Everything but a mixed breakfast
White toast should be white toast not half and half. Field mushrooms should be that - if there has been a delivery issue bring out the breakfast and explain to the customer that field mushrooms weren't available. The mushrooms served were clearly not field mushrooms. The staff rating given above was for all but morning staff - I was asked to sit at a table but all two person tables were occupied (3) or uncleared (5 or 6). Sharpen them up

Lack of sleep
Location was good lovely area. Breakfast was really good.
From the minute we stepped through the door it was just like been at home the staff were brilliant and did everything for you even the night staff and the rooms are big and spacious and the breakfast staff were great as well all round brilliant hotel with a friendly and cosy atmosphere my girlfriend is 30 weeks pregnant and woke up with heartburn so we rang reception for some milk and within 2 minutes the night porter was at the door with a pint glass for her brilliant place
Good bar and the food was good and tasty and not too pricey for its quality.
Well kept accommodation and good food and service
The road noise was louder than expected given the rural location.
Excellent room at a very good price. Steak night provided an excellent meal very competitively priced plus a bottle of wine for £10 - you can't beat it!! Very friendly staff and pub prices for drinks. Good parking free and good free WiFi.
The room was comfortable and the food was good.
It was quite noisy, there was a lot of activity across the corridor and my door and walls did nothing to stifle the sound. When calling for room service, no one answered, I wasn't surprised as it seems staff are asked to man the bar and reception.
Food in the restaurant.
Three hangers in the wardrobe. Lots of tea and coffee but no kettle. No batteries in the television handset. Room cold.
