Perfect location close to shops and restaurants, very spacious room with a large comfortable bed.
Whilst the bed was very comfortable our quality of sleep was affected by the temperature in the room, even with the window open it was still very hot, we heard other guests saying the same thing over breakfast.
Fantastic central location. Large traditional hotel which was kept clean with helpful staff
No cask ale in the bar
The hotel is very beautiful and situated in a perfect location. The room was very clean and the staff were very kind, friendly and helpful.
They had a wedding happening in the hotel, with a very loud disco which kept my family awake until 1am and the phone in the room was broken, which meant that we had to use our mobile phone to ring the front desk to complain. (However once I complained about this, they were very accomodating).
The food and everything was excellent.
We thought that the food etc should be included in the price of the room.
Staff were excellent, friendly, accomodating.excellent location,as was breakfast. Everything you wanted for breakfast was there .
Beds too soft.
The Location. The food The room The Staff were very helpful We will be returning to this Hotel
It was noisy on the Saturday night. The Floor boards are very noisy The Breakfast was hurried on the Monday morning, as they were clearing up as we ate at 09:30. Parking was difficult, but I understand the problem, given the location.
Location. Outside aesthetically.
All staff were rude. English was terrible. Got no breakfast. Won't stay again.
Staff very friendly.very clean in rooms.
Quite dark in room.
Great old style well appointed hotel, nice comfortable room, great dining room and good quality breakfast with excellent choices and friendly staff.
Young lady with attitude and little people skills who checked us in. I actually asked if she had had a busy day and reply was very quiet day. Maybe she should be a little happy at least. Very limited car parking space. Pros outweighed the two down points.
The local was brilliant, service at reception was very good and helpful. I would recommend it to others but would only stay on the top floor due to the noise from the creaky floorboards
The bed was terrible we just ended up in a crease in the middle. The floor boards were loose and very noisy which lead to me having 2 bad nights sleep I went for a relaxing break and got more rest on the Sunday when I got home
The overall appearance of the hotel, clean and tidy polite friendly staff, location, ease of check in restaurant and service
lack of replenished drinks facilities in room over the three days. (went one day without) but not a serious issue, we picked up some items from reception
Room was clean and contemporary. Most Staff polite and helpful.
Lack of parking spaces. Cars poorly parked so taking up more than one space. Arriving on a Saturday I ended up in multi storey across the town paying £5.20 until I could move the car to free parking across Montpelier Stray. As a single female traveller having driven 200+ miles it was far from ideal.
Cold room no heating Expected better room for money
location and staff excellent
car park too small, and the room was cold, no heating on.
Everything, atmosphere, recently refurbished, it was all good. Excellent breakfast.
There were stairs to climb which may not suit all travellers.
Perfect Location for everything we needed, Comfy beds
Cost did not reflect standard of room expected, Door fitting was hanging off when arrived at room, I had to ring reception 3 times before maintenance arrived to fix. Decor very dated.
We stayed here a few weeks ago and thought we would enjoy another weekend away.
Room 120 The bathroom did not have an extraction fan, it was like being in a sauna. After washing my hair, I found that the hair dryer did NOT work. There were NO extra pillows or blankets, these had to be requested from the housekeeper. I did not like being rushed into booking online, with a similar message saying, it's the last remaining room etc, I was rushed into clicking the first option at £150.00 ! Later I noticed that had I clicked the 2nd option of £161.00 it included breakfasts too. I ended up paying an extra £20.00 for breakfasts.
Breakfast lovely room clean
Moved as wedding on and room was above dance floor. Noisy until 2 Staff miss up and sent another guest to my room while I was in the bathroom. A bit awkward. Not enough staff on when checking in and girl very stressed.
Bed was comfortable and bath/shower facilities were amazing.
Single en suite room was above the boiler and overlooking scaffolding. The boier cut out around 10pm and started again very early. Next time will ask for a different room.
Location and style of hotel suited us
Paper thin walls in the bathroom and quality of finish.we thought that the people in the nxt room where having a converstion in there
I attended the wedding of Linda Whiting and Peter Bullimore The food was superb & the staff were outstanding.
Unable to get drinks at the Bar because of private Function. Bar Staff were not helpful. Cooked breakfast was poor. Overcooked and not even warm. Staff only average.
As far as we were concerned we could not fault anything or anyone.
I liked our suite,it was very comfortable, and had everything we needed,it was in walking distance of some lovely restaurants and bars, central for shops,x x
Creaky floor boards, but hey it's an old building so what else can I expect,no parking space outside the hotel,x
Hordes smoking at the front door when we were checking in late on Saturday
