The staff was super friendly and went out of their way to help in every posible way. The breakfast was great and the location ...!! superb !!
Too many stairs to get to my room !!
from start to finish I had all facilities made available the reception staff were excellent all in all a very good stay and would have no problem in recommending other people to stay. yes very good stay ,and thank you reception for the upgrade, much appreciated.
hotel a little tired myself being in the catering industry we are sometimes over critical but the entrance could do with a lick of varnish. I did note that you are in the proses of doing up some of the rooms excellent.
everything; the staff, the comfort, the ambience and the room.
I think breakfast could be allowed a little later (say 10am rather than 9.30)
Location very central
Floor boards noisy in bedroom sometimes no hot watee
Nice room, good bed. Helpful reception staff. All in all the room was very good for the price we paid.
Had a late night cap at Henrys Bar and found the drinks prices to be eye-wateringly steep. Also couldn't pay with cash which was a bit strange.
Very good and come table bed etc
Resident above banging about at 5 am onwards made our stay a unpleasant one !!!!
we liked the cleanliness and the wonderful fluffy extra large towels. The breakfast really good with loads of choice laid out in a clean and professional manner. The free parking a real bonus as it was the Christmas period. Would recommend .
the windows were draughty but it is a very old building so we accepted this .
Location, architecture of building
The bed. Mattress knackered - no support.
The hotel was in a good postion
The night we stayed at the hotel they had 3 function on the noise was terrible we had to have our room moved but still noise . The hotel said they informed yourselves of these functions but you didn't inform us very disappointed. Don't know if I will book with yourselves again because of this please could you reply with an explains ion as to why we weren't informed of these functions
I enjoyed a comfortable stay, staff very friendly and helpful. Nice location and a short walk to all the main shops.
The cooked breakfast...
breakfast and bar
noisy nightclub if you stay at the back of the hotel
The location was ideal in the town centre, close to all bars and restaurants. The Hotel room was comfortable and clean, with friendly staff and the bonus of a late night bar! Would stay here again.
liked it all
Excellent central location in a period property. Good Bistro and excellent breakfast
Limited car parking
Just about everything, fine building, nice staff great fabulous location.Get there early to park , nightmare I guess if you can't . Once parked suggest stayed parked ,, ha ha don't move. Can't comment on the food we went out .. that's a story !!!!
The height of the rooms are slightly disconcerting . Exactly what you would expect in such a fine building but even so if you are used to "normal" size then these will blow your mind. Not enough though to stop me going again.
clean room good breakfast
lovely room and central location - agree with other reviewer that the Hales Bar is terrific!
staff could be more welcoming
Staff excellent, main desk were so very helpfull. Main bar staff were very good. Nothing too much trouble. Breakfast was ok. Been many times to this Hotel,so handy for town.
We had a disabled room, shower was awful,so old, needs urgent upgrading, couldn't get any other room. Just to be pickie,no biscuits in room.
Location very good and excellent breakfast
Noisy roadworks outside at night but this wasn't the fault of the hotel
Hotel requires a bit of a make over.
Rooms were good for what we paid. Very warm on cold nights. Excellent breakfast in a large dining room with plenty of space. Staff were very attentive and obliging. Complimentary bottle of wine in our rooms was a nice touch. Great location for shops, bars and restaurants.
Nothing really to dislike. Parking was limited if you wanted to travel out and then return to park in the Hotelr. We just parked up for two days.
Comfortable room and well stocked with equipment such as, hairdryer, iron and ironing board. Staff were stretched with big party but very polite.
Christmas "do"s going on. so the food selection a bit limited. But chef came out to apologise when he couldn't fulfil our order.
-Very comfortable bed (executive room) -central location -spacious room
-noise from corridor (people walking up and down on creaky floorboards) -a wedding was being held which was unfortunate as the main bar was closed for the function and the alternative bar was rather dull
Everything about this hotel is good apart from parking which is limited and the nearest free parking was a 15min walk.
