Everything, from the room, to the bar and restaurant and breakfast, it is not 'easy' to find a hotal that you have no grumbles about but I certainly had none with this hotel!
Bar, main decor
Room a bit dated. Staff could be friendlier
Could be the best hotel breakfast we have ever had .
Given room 230 for the money disgraceful ,tiny corner more like a cupboard had to squeeze round to get in far side of bed , not acceptable for that amount .
The deep carpets, soft linen, excellent service in the restaurant
Nothing to include here.
good area to be in
food could be hotter
I used to work at the Crown about 40+ years ago, some things have changed but the character and look of this fantastic hotel is still strong in my heart, it was a trip down memory lane for me and my wife, who was expecting high standards loved the hotel.
The restaurant which used to be of high standard and was the place to see and be seen is now a bit too modern for this beautiful old hotel, it looked a bit drab.
Breakfast very good and attentive staff
Shower had very poor pressure. Room service very limited menu. Asked for extra blanket and duvet was removed and bed made with sheets anda blanket
Location and character of hotel.
Unable to eat in restaurant , booked for large group. Unable to go into bar due to party being in there. Room too warm. Unable to sleep due to too much noise from party below and noisy guests in corridor.
Arrived Early and our room was almost ready 10. 30. Room was nice, beds were comfortable and bathroom is great, bath was abit small though. Also hotel was nice and Central.
Floors creak badly and view was bad just a brick wall.
Brilliant location, beautiful old building
Worst Mattress I have ever laid on. Hardkey any sleep at all
That when I asked for a change of room, I was not questioned, it was changed.
Bed - Soft Room - ok Noise - road noise (room was 1st floor) and there was a wedding on that we were not informed about prior to visiting. A colleague was woken at 2am by dancing and singing in a room above her from the wedding party who were also in the rooms next to her. Breakfast - no egg choice. Just scrambled (we were not informed of other) No added extras - one biscuit, no moisturiser etc.
Great location for Harrogate town center. Interesting historic hotel.
Bland room decor. Limited wardrobe space, especially for two.
Location was very central, and the breakfast was very good
The windows with the frosted glass,so there was no view out made me feel claustraphobic, and I will check next time if I can have a room with clear windows!
Best thing about the hotel was the excellent breakfasts and friendly helpful nature of the restaurant staff. All service was friendly and helpful. The hotel has a charming character as you would expect from a large hotel in Harrogate. Overall this was excellent value
The hotel was let down by limited parking but obviously limited by the hotels central location. There was free parking in the roads around the hotel from 6pm to 8am, which meant paying for parking during the day. I found the wifi to be poor and the bedroom decor a bit tired, although very clean and serviceable.
Looks great from the outside. great breakfast.
I was on a one night break with my sister-in-law who is a carer for her grandchild. We wanted a leisurely couple of days to do some shopping and to enjoy a bit of cafe culture which Harrogate is famous for. loved the period features of the hotel. The breakfast room was well set out. It was helpful managing to park outside the hotel.
The room and breakfast were both very good.
After an evening out the staff didn't believe we're guests at the hotel even after showing them our room key. They made us stay down in the lobby whilst they checked the computer for our booking.
Good central location; friendly & helpful reception staff; elegant but still comfortable ambience; excellent breakfast; good menu, food presentation & quality in "The Place"; everywhere clean.
Only partial lift access to 1st floor bedrooms. 2 short flights of stairs still to climb, and the treads of the stairs slope forward. Creaky bedroom floors. Very poor Wi-Fi connection in Lounge and The Place.
Extremely friendly staff. My final morning before my flight out of Manchester I was not hungry for breakfast but wanted a cup of coffee and asked the receptionist to recommend a place in town. She said they'd get me a cup and a server brought out a full setting (coffee in silver pot, cream, sugar etc.) to the sitting area. It was a very nice touch and I will remember it. Thanks.
Room had no view at all but not really a problem as I only slept and was busy all day.
The staff were exceptional I arrived and became stressed by parking limits the manager went out of his way to allay my anxiety by offering parking suggestions which were successful The hotel is very central and convenient for the pedestrian
The double mattress although soft dipped in the middle and the bedroom decor and furniture is very dated.
Location and character
Our room was very small and noisy
Food Friendly staff
hotel is well placed to visit all that Harrogate has to offer, lovely park and woodland in the centre of the town.
The hotel slightly lacked character as most of the guests, the weekend we spent there, were at a wedding and didn't spend time in the public bar, which was very quiet.
very friendly staff, good clean room, good quality breakfast
noise from air con unit in room
