Great food and pub feel with very good rooms
The room was lovely with style and comfort in mind.
Not once were we asked if we had enjoyed our stay. Room was at top of a busy staircase. Breakfast staff were inattentive with no attention to detail no offers of more hot drinks, no bread apart from to toast yourself and empty sauce bottles. Disappointing!
Location - style of old inn - rooms off of courtyard - good size room- friendley staff
Some issues with shower drainage flooding bathroom - other small issues in room all sorted by staff in a friendly way. Would benefit from a duty manager no one seemed to be in charge but staff were great individuals.
We stayed over the Valentines weekend. The evening meal was amazing and the staff were very helpful. We did over hear someone complaining about something and all we heard was something about tasting like bath water.
We were aware that breakfast ran up until 1030 on the Sunday so we got there at 0920, helped ourselves to the continental breakfast and awaited being served for the actual breakfast. We eventually had to get up and ask a member of staff for our order. Once hat was done we waited, and waited and waited. Nothing came. We spoke to the same young lad who took our order and he was very rude about it and disappeared. So we got up and left. As we were leaving we spoke to a member of staff who was the oy helpful person at the hotel who said it would be taken off our bill. Which it did. Completely ruined our stay.
Interesting internal design and finishing in rooms. Location of hotel
Service in the food areas was poor - lack of presence
Traditional coach house exterior, blend of contemporary and traditional interior. Lovely food! Gorgeous village.
Need some drawers, even if hidden inside the fitted cupboard. Not even a drawer in the bedside table or desk! I understand the design/look reasons, but drawers are useful. :-)
The Crown was a perfect location for our planned dinner at the Artichoke (directly opposite) The room was beautiful and quiet. Great breakfast too
Bed was a little soft but otherwise nothing we didn't like
Quiet location, wonderful atmosphere with good staff. Even squeaking wooden floor did not annoy me (normally I complain if it is a modern hotel), made me feel going back to 17th century. Plenty amenity, the bed was so comfortable.
The restaurant menu is a bit limited, no fresh vegetable for evening menu.
Selection of cereals etc was good. Service was friendly and helpful.
Plates are smaller than the bread slices. Butter provided is the size of a postage stamp. On adding milk the coffee is luke-warm.
Comfy bed and duvet! Very clean Lovely breakfast Nice location Pretty grounds Blackout curtains
Wasn't very clear where the parking was or how to get in (probably needed a sign)
The location, the room and the character of the hotel.
Bar service poor. waited 5 minutes to be served. No staff at bar as they were dealing with a wedding reception in hotel. Bar cold, dingy, and uninviting, and no fire lit. Restaurant also cold. Small menu, but despite this chosen starter and main course not available. Manager said this was because they had had a busy Xmas! When Manager was informed that this was unacceptable and we would therefore go to eat somewhere else he took pre dinner drinks off the bill, but his attitude was that it was all beyond his control. Breakfast was fine, but again service poor with 10 minute wait for staff to come to table and no menu available.
Very comfortable hotel, very friendly and efficient. Will go back.
Size of breakfast, had to ask for a smaller portion on second day. Very good though.
Breakfast was good despite poor service. Situation good, Old Amersham is lovely.
Suites are awful with wooden furniture unusable shower no carpets. Bar staff rude and incompetent, no porterage. All very poor value.
Location was good. Enjoyed our breakfast. Staff friendly.
Although the mattress was comfortable the bed was very small and I did not have a good night sleep. Bigger beds needed.
Room was nicely decorated, welcome tray goodies were lovely
Breakfast service was very slow. Eggs Benedict vinegary and disappointing
Great rooms staff and location.
Let down by opening our room door to find it uncleaned. We had to return to reception to get a different room key. Also let down by a poor breakfast. Undercooked eggs and no bacon.
Comfortable bed and lovely shower
We booked a Superior Double Room in the main building but we were very disappointed. The room had nothing superior about it. We had to walk on uneven floor boards, there was only one work top which was used for the tea etc.One of the bedside lamps did not work. The room was over the main entrance so we could hear talking below our window. On the second morning at breakfast no one came to take our order so we had to go to the kitchen and give our order.
comfortable bed quiet at night good shower, plenty of hot water complimetary items in room
mouldy areas around bath old TV in need of an update room in need of a general re-vamp
The ambience, the staff and the quality of the food were all excellent. I have already recommended this hotel to others and would certainly stay there again, it was lovely
I didn't notice on the website directions to the car park which is behind the hotel off a different road name. I didn't see the sign until I had parked on the road opposite the hotel.
A traditional coaching inn in a good location.
The 'superior' room felt distinctly inferior. Staff appeared uninterested.
Wonderful staff; great character to the building; excellent selection of drinks; comfortable, clean room.
Breakfast. I expected breakfast to be cooked to order, but it clearly was not. The quality of the ingredients was OK, but the food was obviously kept under a heat lamp or in an oven. Nothing on the plate was hot and the plates were cold. The selection of cereals, juices, meats, and cheeses was quite good.
I liked just about everything, a very nice hotel in an excellent spot with very good facilities. I was made welcome and the room and service were excellent.
I did not like the mould around the bath, (needs cleaning with bleach !) and initially thought the black object in the bath was a beetle, but it turned out to be a large chip in the enamel. Pity it was the only down side to my stay.
Friendly breakfast staff
Black mould around bath! Water through ceiling in friend's room. Crowded breakfast room. Unwelcoming and uncomfortable bar.
