In a great location and the hotel was very clean and comfortable. The parking facilities were poor. Not enough parking. We were all double parked on a saturday night. There was not enough hot water at 10pm at night. No information pack in our room so we missed my breakfast. Not very child friendly in the main building. Steps and stairs so not easy with a buggy.

Very easy to get to from the m5 and a perfect location for shopping The food was too heavy - I have a small appetite and would have preferred a lighter choice

It was so nice to stay in a cosy pub rather than a business hotel for a change. It was a very characterful. I booked a room for £119, when I got there I was in a room for £149, I questioned the price and was then given a room key. The room didn't seem like it was worth £149, which seemed to make sense as the following day when I checked out the I was charged a room rate of £99. Very confusing, why couldn't I have just had the room I paid for through you in the first place.

The bedroom/bathroom was clean and tidy. The bed was comfortable. The staff are not adequately trained or supervised. The waitress in the evening brought a course missing the main ingredients, and did not even seem concerned when it was pointed out. She could not use a corkscrew to open our wine. At breakfast salt and pepper were missing and had to be 'borrowed' from the one table that had some. The orange juice ran out and apparently there was no more to be had. Again, no concern or apology. It did not seem that there was any management or control with fairly predictable results I guess.

We enjoyed our stay and plan to return. Rooms were very nice. Staff were helpful and pleasant. Hotel oozes charm and character. We had a great stay and its a shame to complain about such small things. Breakfast was cleared away before we had finished. No side plates at breakfast. Bar was closed early at night. No Guest Lounge with easy chairs. No newspapers. Water from shower flooded floor. Some rooms did not have full length mirrors. Bedside tables are to small (to get a cup of tea onto).

Ease of parking, very friendly and efficient staff, location in Old Amersham Wooden floor boards made the Hotel very noisy. Had to complain to reception about the noise from other hotel guests walking about in their non carpeted bedroom above late in the evening when trying to sleep.. The decor is 'Old England meets 'Minimalism' - a strange mixture!

Not a lot. Our first impression was that the courtyard garden needed attention. . We were first shown to room 17, which had recently been refubished. The refurbishment had been badly done it was dark, dingy and impractical. The blinds hid a horrible view of weeds and untidy steps and made the room dark. We were then shown to room 111, where the arms of the chair were worn, the bathroom door stuck making a horrible noise. Not a lot. The breakfast was ok. The lunchtime offering of sandwiches was poor. I had the salmon sandwich which was not appetizing. My husband had the chowder which was ok.

Amersham is a really lovely town and we enjoyed our walks around the area. The Crown has been sympathetically renovated and is overall, relatively comfortable. We particularly enjoyed breakfast and the outdoor courtyard. None of the bedrooms in the main house have baths in the bathrooms, which we weren't made aware of before checking-in and being shown to the room. So if you want to wallow in the complimentary Aesop toiletries, ask when you check in for a bedroom with a bath! Also, we had great expectations of our evening meal after reading good reviews of the restaurant. However, the food was not really up to scratch but the staff reacted well to our comments and made replacements where necessary.

Quaint and interesting old buildings. Nice and fresh food. Friendly and helpful staff. Quilt on bed too hot. This was adjusted and replaced with a blanket on request. It was unusually hot days when we happened to stay. Small plates at beakfast seemed inadequate and also lack of small knifes for buttering and preserves lacking on the tables.

The hotel was good, the staff friendly and efficient, however the only problem was that they didn't appear to have received the booking details from you.

The rooms were very clean and very quiet- somewhat minimalistic but that did not detract from their comfort Your idea of a buffet breakfast was a bad joke. The "continental" part of it was virtually non existent,-, few cereals, no yoghourt, no cold meats or cheese, and butter but no spreads. The cooked side consisted of three hot plate (which were not hot) one containing congealed scramble egg and rubbery fried eggs. No plate heaters so cold plates. The tables were set with a knife , fork and spoon. No side plate and no knife for butter or marmalade (also no marmalade) To see a line of customers queuing to make their own toast was depressing and in my view unnecessary. Two of the staff were running around continually replacing items and dealing with requests for things which should have been there but weren't the othr two staff stood around looking lost

The hotel is well located in a lovely village. The dinner was way below par.No wonder there were only two other people in the dining room.On our two weeks of travelling through southern England this was undoubtably the poorest of the breakfasts and dinners we had.

After an initial difficulty about our allocated room which was dealt with swiftly, we had a very pleasing stay at the crown. Our room was very clean, comfortable and quiet. The staff were kind and courteous. We had dinner for two nights and the food was really special. I would not hesitate to recommend the crown for a relaxing stay.

Extremely nice, helpful staff. Loved the olde worlde use of bare boards, wooden tables, pewter and heavy pottery jugs. Good choices and easy to help yourself for breakfast. Quick and efficient maintenance when TV remote not working. Water was not quite hot enough for bathing in the morning - around 7am.

Location good for London/Slough "Executive Double Room" had bare walls, bare floors, pull down blind on window, bare radiator pipes on wall, no headboard on bed, basic furniture (wooden rocking chair, small milking stool style bedside tables) - A clean, but very basic room!
