Upon arrival we coincided with a Leek show, what fun and everyone was so friendly. The staff were always so helpful and welcoming, we ate in twice and the food was hearty and served quickly. Would recommend anyone to stay there.
We understand the owner is considering a refurbishment which would be a great step forward. We were not that lucky with the weather and double glazing would have made a huge difference.
Great food (locally sourced), friendly helpful staff, friendly locals, fabulous scenery, very dog friendly. Great room too.
Geographically it was very well positioned for my requirements.Kirkhaugh Farm for a family party and the lake district for a visit to Keswick.Staff were most helpful and pleasant and food at breakfast was good.We dined out for other meals,
Found the décor a bit drab
Good food, No Problems.
The food served at the Cumberland inn was excellent and good value for money!
The bed wax too soft and so were the pillows!
Lots of amenities in the room..tea coffee etc. Breakfast was tasty. Varied choice of options etc. Enjoyed a lovely tea that night. Good portion sizes. .generally good pub food!
Room was quite cool due to drafty windows although heating was also off. Was quite a cold night so would have been nice to have the option.
What can i say about this little country side gem. Once you have recovered from the Majestic views from the bar window your left woundering could it get any better, then your food arrives and the answer is yes! Sublime menu only bettered by the taste of every morsal of food you eat.I should be giving this place bad reviews then i could keep this bolt hole all to myself. Mr Michellin Star must of forgotten to rate this place, I havent top marks for location, accommodation and god must of blessed all that work in her.
Nothing, good value overall
Wholesome food, well kept beer and friendly staff. We would certainly come again.
A very small negative from my wife was the bar which has the best view was full of happy beer drinkers.
Staff were all fantastic & couldn't do enough to help. Large choice of food in bar/restaurant, good value & very enjoyable meals.
Staff very friendly and helpfull. Excellent food, good menu. Real ale pub serving good beer and cider. Ignore first impressions on arrival.
Enjoyed our stay, quite basic with good breakfast and pub meals. Dog friendly.
Rooms were on the front so quite a lot of traffic noise and no view.
Nothing was too much trouble. Great stay.
Friendly staff, good facilities and services which were explained in a welcome pack in our room. Lovely meals which catered for all of our dietry requirements. Very welcoming and relaxed-ideal after a day of bike riding.
Lovely genteel bar. Great food.
A lovely warm welcome.A great stay at this country pub in a bedroom with wonderful views.Comfy beds & lovely soft pillows.Good food & a great range of real ales.A warm family feel to the place.
Very friendly. Very comfortable. Nothing fancy, just good food, drink and a very comfortable nights sleep. Excellent breakfast to set you up for the next days walking!
Position. Room ok. Good position for C2C
Needs some repairs generally and badly worn stairway and landing areas made it look a bit grubby
Good food nice and relaxed clean and friendly staff
Could do with a bit of updating
Comfortable Bed Tasty Breakfast Able to provide an evening meal Free Parking and WIFI
Musty/Damp Smelling Room Staff too busy to give attention when we arrived in the early evening Premises badly needs updating and decorating
No airs or graces and yes I would go back. Enjoyed both the evening meal and breakfast. The beer wasn't bad either...!!
Staff were very welcoming. Breakfast was excellent. Overall a pleasant stay.
More of a personal preference than a dislike, and the reason for the "good" for comfort - found the mattress was too soft
Friendly staff, nice atmosphere/food in pub area
Slightly overpriced for B&B
