The hotel is fairly close to the pier where the foot passenger ferry drops off. The lounge looks comfortable, although we didn't really use it. The bed was clearly very old, and the mattress extremely soft - possibly some of the springs were past their best. The walls did not block out much sound, so we got all the creaks from the people upstairs moving around. The bathroom had no ventilation, so the steam either had to condense in the bathroom, making it damp, or fill up the bedroom. The complimentary shampoo and shower gel came in plastic sachets which were quite awkward to open with wet hands. The breakfast was quite small - the quarter of a slice of fried bread being a representative example. Of the alternative options, the savoury scones came undercooked, and the bacon sandwich was a bit lacking in bacon.

Good location to explore the island, with ample free parking, friendly staff and close to local shops and restaurants. Slightly cramped toilet facilities in our twin room.

Dorset House is set in a prime location, close to the beach, shops & also bus station so as I do not drive was ideal. The rooms were very clean & comfortable and the wide variety of choices for breakfast were more than adequate to set us up for the days sightseeing.

Cleanliness of my room, pleasant staff, good room service. My only concern relates to the wardrobe in my room, it was rickety and requires securing to the wall.

The 'hotel' is well positioned with very easy access to the ferry terminal railway and island bus service network.Ryde itself is a bit run down but it has a lot of charm and character. The staff are friendly and the hotel is very 'fresh and clean' The bar is a useful if limited resource. Breakfasts are good. Overall money well spent Alan March 2012

Very nice staff. Helpful and very responsive. Fine breakfast. Free internet service. The computer is a bit old but it works ok and one should not be tied to the internet anyway while on vacation.

The staff were fantastic and a pleasure to meet! They even put on an earlier breakfast to accommodate. Also, the breakfast was second to none. The b&b is easy to find, even if you have never been to the island before. The garden is lovely and there is ample parking. The bar is big and has a great selection. It was £41 per night so I was not expecting the Hilton so was not really disappointed. The size of the bedroom could be bigger, having to use an electric heater instead of central heating and the shower was not very big. Holes in the wall.
