The hotel is fairly close to the pier where the foot passenger ferry drops off. The lounge looks comfortable, although we didn't really use it. The bed was clearly very old, and the mattress extremely soft - possibly some of the springs were past their best. The walls did not block out much sound, so we got all the creaks from the people upstairs moving around. The bathroom had no ventilation, so the steam either had to condense in the bathroom, making it damp, or fill up the bedroom. The complimentary shampoo and shower gel came in plastic sachets which were quite awkward to open with wet hands. The breakfast was quite small - the quarter of a slice of fried bread being a representative example. Of the alternative options, the savoury scones came undercooked, and the bacon sandwich was a bit lacking in bacon.

I had a clean & tidy room. Hotel has ample parking space at the back. I got it cheap hence consider this as good value for my money. Breakfast was not too good not too bad either.

Second time staying here in less than six months, I like this place. Breakfast is always very good. Very close to Ryde's Union Street for easy access to restaurants, shops and the hovercraft. Lovely room with great views. Looks great in the sun. Room 25's shower has almost no pressure.

The people running it seemed nice and the breakfast was good. The room I was given was in need of renovation. The wall paper was peeling off the walls, the metal floor in the ensuite bathroom seemed very utilitarian and the toilet was leaking round the wastepipe. The duvet cover seemed clean but was marked. When I mentioned this to one of the owners as I left, he said that I shouldn't have been given that room, so maybe the others are better. There was also a lot of noise from other rooms, which surprised me as it seemed like quite an old building, however I could hear people talking quite clearly.

Very nice staff. Helpful and very responsive. Fine breakfast. Free internet service. The computer is a bit old but it works ok and one should not be tied to the internet anyway while on vacation.

Price was reasonable. Food was okay. Except for tv room did not look like it had changed since 1950'S. No central heating just a plug-in electric heater. Shower was pathetic. Only a dribble of hot water which soon began to run cold.

Sizeable room, comfortable bed and good bathroom with all the amenities. Clean and good location, with a large choice of options for breakfast. The staff was helpful, the hotel was nice and quiet and I enjoyed my stay! The decor was a little chipped in some places (ie. The paint etc) but other than that, fine

The staff were fantastic and a pleasure to meet! They even put on an earlier breakfast to accommodate. Also, the breakfast was second to none. The b&b is easy to find, even if you have never been to the island before. The garden is lovely and there is ample parking. The bar is big and has a great selection. It was £41 per night so I was not expecting the Hilton so was not really disappointed. The size of the bedroom could be bigger, having to use an electric heater instead of central heating and the shower was not very big. Holes in the wall.

I went into the hotel I was shocked with the room provided which was very very small!! But as soon as I inform the hotel staff about my honeymoon holiday, immediately they changed my room n provided me a wonderful suite!! Thanks for that. The suite provided was fully furnished n was beautiful!! The reception was poor!! I had to wait each n every time to see someone at reception!! More over breakfast was a bit inconvenient!! I had to choose items from menu n order for it n wait!! Whereas in other hotels, they provide fully buffet menu to help your self!! Hotel room was without iron and drinking water facility.

.Efficient, friendly and clean. Bed was too firm and creaky. Traffic and drunks going home meant it was a bit noisy around midnight and later.

The room was basic and clean but could have done with a lick of paint as beginning to look a bit worn. The location was good and we had a lovely evening walking on the pier.

I stayed at Dorset Hotel in September 2009 and enjoyed my stay so much that when I planned our trip this year to the Isle of Wight the first booking I completed was to stay at the Dorset. This time we stayed in the garden suite which very comfortable and clean. The breakfast's as before were excellent and was as good as those we had experienced in Europe two weeks previous. The service was again faultless.

It is convenient for the shops and just a few minutes walk away from the fast cat crossing at Ryde Pier. It is far enough away from the town not to be disturbed by the local bars and clubs during the evening. The hotel is quiet and we did not have any disturbance from the corridors outside our room or from the bar below. Beds were comfortable and clean and well made. Breakfast was very nice and served promptly. There was plenty of cereals, juices and fruit to choose from. The twin bedded room we were in was very small and the adaquately bathroom equipped but small. The shower was tempremental and caused us to experience short bursts of cold water. No cloth bath mats just paper bath mats supplied. The reception is sitauted at the front of the lounge which meant people are looking at you as you book in. The interior decoration and furnishings were old fashioned and not to dissimilar to the lounge of a retirement home.
