Lovely room, great shower and breakfasts excellent with great choice. Very clean and comfortable beds with plenty of pillows. Ample tea and coffee making facilities. Not very nice welcome. Owner spoke poor English and became impatient when I could not understand him. We had to pay as soon as we arrived which I thought was unusual considering we had not seen the rooms.

The welcome we got was very good. The room we got was the four poster it was spacious clean and warm. The breakfast was really good and plentiful. The location was good next to where buses run and the walk to the shops 10 minutes walk. The area was quiet at night and their was no noise from other rooms. The staff should have told us how to put the heating on instead of us working it out ourseves. But we should have asked.

Basic hotel for a basic price. Foreign staff who had not been trained in either customer services or local amenities, such as parking restrictions.

The Lairg hotel has large, pesonal, cosy rooms with comfortable beds and armchairs to sit and read. The breakfast was delicious. We stayed a week for a conference and felt at home. The only tiny thing I can suggest to improve the hotel comfort is better lamps for reading.

Friendly staff, knowledgeable about the area and ready to help the visitor make the most of their stay in Edinburgh. The Lairg is an easy 10-15 min walk from Princes Street - even with the upheaval due to road works for the new tramlines going in. The Lairg is very handy for Haymarket station if you are arriving by train. They offer a good choice of cooked breakfasts to set you up for the day.

Great breakfast. Clean, nicely decorated room. They let me leave my luggage for the day to pick up in the afternoon. Easy walk from Haymarket train station. Lots of restaurants close by. Would stay again. It was a little hard hauling luggage up stairs.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating and the breakfasts were fantastic! My room was clean and bright with a very comfortable bed and a lovely bathroom My mother-in-law had a single room on the ground floor. This room seemed a little dated compared to our room and was very small (although she admitted that it was fine for her as she was just sleeping there)

The cleanliness was outstanding. A fourposter bed was a special treat for my partner. A request for flowers for my partner was delivered to our immaculate room. Breakfasts were cooked to order and were a lovely start to each day. The staff, especially the manager, were excellent and could not have been more helpful. The location was very good - only minutes by bus or taxi to anywhere in the city. Whilst the staff were excellent dealing with guests one thing was missing - smiles. As a nation we all love and respond to this simple act. Doing this for guests would do wonders for British peoples acceptance of Eastern Europeans in service industries.

It was very clean and comfortable and the nreakfast choice was good and well cooked. Although it was not the hotels fault we were frustrated by all the road closures etc due to the new tram works. It would have been good to have been told about this before hand - it still wouldn't have put us off staying there. The hotel staff could have been a little moe clued up with information as to parking - although being resorceful travellers we did ok!

Centrally located in quiet area. The hotel was very clean and comfortable Limited wifi, but the staff advised that they will be extending the access to the whole hotel. There was a bit of traffic noise due to the cobble stoned street, but this quietened down later in the night and didn't impact on sleep. Top floor required lots of stairs, but that's inevitable in Edinburgh. It was a very good price for a lovely hotel.

Our hotel stay was excellent. Our room was very spacious and the bathroom in particular the shower appeared brand new and was spotlessly clean. The hotel was within walking distance to the city and there was also a bus stop close by. Breakfast was very good and the waiting staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The Manager was very friendly and informative. My sisters and I would certainly recommend this hotel to other people visiting Edinburgh. All in all we had a lovely weekend and thought the hotel was very good value.
