Very modern decor in recently-renovated bedroom (but not in the hotel itself). On the first night the heating didn't work; the radiator was lukewarm when we arrived and stone cold later on. At first the staff were unwilling to help us, claiming that the room was warm enough and that we were complaining because we were from warm countries (Colombia and Spain). Eventually we were given an electric heater. The next day the owner took the heater away, initially without telling us why, and then claimed that his insurance didn't allow it, and again mentioned that we were 'from warm countries'. The heating was fixed, but we feel we shouldn't have to complain just to get a warm room on the first night of our stay, and that to mention our nationalities was irrelevant and offensive.

The room was very clean. The full Scottish breakfast was good and there was a variety of choices too. The. Staff were friendly & very helpful. This hotel was cleaner than several 5 star hotels we stayed at in Scotland! Mobility was an issue for us. When we arrived there was a mix up with our room, but the staff resolved the problem to our satisfaction. There is no lift, so beware if you have trouble with stairs.

Quiet location Complimentary shower gel/shampoo are usual in most hotels. All they offer is a very small bar of soap. De-caf coffee is not on offer - it has to be asked for

Location was good with access to all amenities, attaractions, rail, bars, shops, restraunts all within easy walking distance. Lairg is more of a guest house than hotel & is owned & jointly run in conjunction with the Haymarket hotel another guest house only a few doors away. Breakfast time can be a bit busy with only limited seating available, guests residing at the Haymarket use the dinning facilities at thye Lairg. When the hotel is full to capacity there is limited available seating leading to delays in the breakfast service. This appeared to resulted in hot cooked breakfast being served on cold plates & slightly undercooked.

Excellent attention to detail from the staff. They were always concerned to make sure that my stay was pleasant and comfortable. The only negative at all was that the internet was inconsistent at times.

Rooms clean, comfortable, staff helpful and breakfast fantastic value for money. Only problem were few things needed to be addressed , signal on tv and wall bracket, curtains not fixed to hooks very well, on cosmetic veiw few holes in walls by bed needed addressing, but none prevented the enjoyment of the stay at the hotel and the helpfulness of staff.

Not far away from the main city attractions. Room nicely decorated. Large bathroom with walk-in shower. Good value for money. Central heating was off untill midnight which means the room got absolutely freezing by then (January). It was really, really cold. Heating went on at midnight but it was so noisy that I ended up switching all heaters off anyway. One of the coldest nights in my life...

This hotel is in a good location just 10 minutes walk from the city centre and right by the train/airport bus routes. The bedrooms are as beautiful as in the photographs and the rooms are spotlessly clean. I was quite suprises at how peaceful it was considering its location. The staff are very helpful but only as you need them so it feels very relaxed and friendly.
