44stairs to climb to bedroom and no lift poor selection for breakfast

The quitness, cleanliness and the atmosphere in the breakfastroom

I was thrilled with every aspect of the Lairg Hotel. It's always difficult to book a hotel in another country and feel confident that you have made a good decision. But, from the start the staff at the Lairg was very helpful. I called them after my initial booking to add a couple of nights and they were very gracious. When we arrived we were greeted with warmth and lots of assistance. The room was very large and beautifully decorated. Our window looked out to a lush garden and the windows opened to a lovely breeze. A fabulous breakfast is served each day in what must have at one time been a well appointed parlor. What a delightful way to start each day. The Lairg is also in a perfect location, very close to the bus, tram and Haymarket train station. We were able to get anywhere in minutes. My experience at the Lairg was one of my best.
I would simply warn that if you cannot climb stairs, an elevator is not available.
Hot breakfasts, friendly staff.
Poor WiFi service, no hotel computer.
Good breakfast. Good proximity to tram and railway station. Gluten free bread available
Traffic noise on cobbled street
All the staff were very friendly and made our stay really enjoyable every one went out of there way to be helpful, Great breakfast would definitely recommend this hotel.
TV in room was not very good, but feel that if we had said something it would have been sorted out for us.
Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Parking is a nightmare! Had to go to the local Tesco to get coins for the parking meter. Cost of metered street parking prohibitive. No free street parking until 6.30pm-8.30 am
Breakfast had very good selection free Wifi close to train station held our bags on check out day till the afternoon
The period room was just what we asked for, we couldn't fault the cleanliness. Staff were very friendly. The breakfast was excellent with good quality produce used. The location is great with just 2 minutes walk to most bus routes, trams or railway, 10 minutes to the city center if you decide to walk.
we were in a front ground floor room and therefore there was a small amount of road noise, but no more than expected for a city center and sleep wasnt affected.
Breakfast great, room very clean, staff very helpful and friendly, 10 minute walk to Princes street, good location
Our Room top of house long climb up especially with luggage, very hot also,
Large room with fantastic four poster bed and huge window allowing lots of light.
TV a bit small to watch from the bed. Very small pieces of soap.
Large room. Wifi worked well.
Uncomfortable bed. Noise from the street and other rooms. Cooking Odours from the staff quarters. Plug sockets not working. No mobile signal in room.
Everything was good.
Very comfortable, well located accommodation for a visit to Edinburgh
We liked the house an location and the bedroom & bathroom very clean and modern. We will be booking this hotel again as we really enjoyed are stay in Edinburgh.
This hotel was lovely. The gent running spent 10 mins going over distance to walk to central town and pricing etc of bus/tram. Very helpful. Clean and beautifully presented considering age of building. Very very comfortable. Only negative was shower bit feeble. Wee bit out of tien but nice views of castle on way. Lovely walk.
Just the shower.
The friendly and helpful staff. The lovely clean white fluffy towels every day. The proximity of the hotel to public transport into the centre of Edinburgh.
Breakfast cooking smells wafting up through the main staircase and into our bedroom window as we were in a back bedroom. Also the en suite would benefit from a bleach/disinfectant clean.
It was in the hub of the city but far enough out to give a restful stay
Lovely big room, excellent breakfast no problem leaving bags before or after booking in.
The period features where fantastic and the whole place was very clean. The breakfast had plenty of options and was very nice.
Felt a little uncomfortable when been greeted, wasn't a warm welcome, also could have done with some eats in the room. WiFi didn't work either.
No hotel staff at night , two building ,
Lack of wifi in the rooms
Our room was lovely and huge. Nice hot breakfast.
The toilet bowl was broken in our bathroom and we had to ask for it to be repaired on our day of arrival. It was done quickly though.
Staff friendly, clean room
shelf above sink, kept hitting my head on it when washing my face. Too far to walk into the centre. No top on stair post at top of stairs, nail showing and caught myself on it. No where to put makeup on as too dark in room.
