It was a convenient place only 3 miles away from Sandhurst where my son is training. It was in the country and looked idylic. The staff were friendly and we shall be returning as a couple and with family during my sons training. Will be booking in April for the Passing Out Parade and most likely before for other events and occasions. We were very happy with the hotel no negatives.

We just picked the Ely on spec to be near a family birthday. WOW what a great place, fantastic staff nothing was too much trouble for them and very friendly, spotlessly clean hotel and pub, great evening meal, fantastic breakfast. By chance they had a charity evening for a soldier killed in Afghanistan, brilliant atmosphere with live music and BBQ in the car park if you wanted it, so that was a bonus. Great countryside and lake to walk around the next morning. Well done everyone at the Ely for making our visit so good. Can't think of anything we didn't like

The staff were incredibly helpful however and this made a massive difference. The ely was well located but in need of updating. Our room (18) smelled badly of damp and the shower and taps were very corroded, which did not look very nice. The fan was taped up and very noisy. The towel rail being over the toilet meant that twice a towel was dropped into it. The fire doors along the landing all close very loudly, which woke us several times in the night and you could hear people above and beside of you quite obviously. The dining room for breakfast always stunk of blocked drains which was not at all appetising.

Service excellent let us leave car in car park for morning although we had checked out. Room clean ., resturant in the evening at dinner very good value all 6 adults agreed food excellent for price. Only complaint,we decided to return for lunch next day 3 people not happy with beef casserole as it was tough, meals taken away replacements offered. We only booked this 2weeks before as it was busy weekend and had doubts about booking but would happily book again

The staff were really friendly and very helpful, especially the receptionist Lucy. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The food was lovely, the only downfall, was the lack of leisure activities at the hotel if you did not want to go. No pool, no gym, if you want to spend the day indoors there was absolutely nothing to do. Nothing a lovely little hotel

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights. We had dinner on two and the food was excellent, more than just 'pub food' All staff were friendly, helpful and couldn't do enought for us. Would definately stay there again as it was very good value for money. The ojnly comment I would make would be the hairdryer, had to hold button down, not ideal. Other than that, perfect.

Country house style, friendly staff, food good. Breakfast was chaotic and poorly served but food quality OK. Curtains not thick enough - lights on outside. Noisy when staff left.

I booked my room on 'booking.com' website, as I had a 4am meeting in Camberley and I live in Newbury, so to avoid the journey, booked a room. I arrived on a Sunday evening at 6pm, the reception lady (Sam ?) was polite and efficient. Made me feel welcome. She also brought my room-service meal to my door, most appreciated. The hostess at Breakfast on the Monday morning was quick to welcome me, had a good demeanour and was busy yet attentive. A most pleasant stay, made all the more so by the fact it was significantly less than a Premier Inn, yet of a similar standard. Parking spaces a little tight, I have a bmw 118d, so not a big car and struggled to get into my space and out of the car. I am a slim person, so no idea what other patrons make of this.

It's location and the price. The beds, very clean and comfortable, Towels clean, and plenty of tea and coffee. The room was large, we had plenty of room as I am dissabled at the momment and have two sticks. Breakfasts well satisfied with choice. No lift although we managed as there were few steps

This was my second visit, and everything was fine, I had also recommended it to my Daughter & Son -in-law and they were very happy with their stay. If you have a room on the ground floor, you may be disturbed by creaking floorboards above your room. I noticed that the extractor fans in the bathroom/toilet areas can be noisy.

Location and value for money. Our only criticism was that we had to leave the hotel by 8.10am on the Saturday to attend an event and breakfast did not start until 8.00am. A breakfast tray was left outside our room on the Friday evening which was very disappointing - weetabix (no milk), yoghurt, a very hard croissant, and an apple. Fortunately we had a very good lunch at the event!!
