We loved the sea view, the good breakfasts and the helpful staff. Bed was comfortable.
There was no hand held shower for hair washing
The Location was excellent! Right on the promenade and near to bus stops. Lovely staff in the reception, bar and restaurant. Clean room and bathroom. Also there was a discount for a "single" room. Breakfast was great and the bar was well stocked. Would definitely recommend it to others!
This is really a very good location and the view is spectacular whether the ocean is calm or raging. We were in a front room. So can't say what other rooms are like. The food is very good. This is my second stay and I have been pleased both times. I found everyone very friendly.
This location would be excellent with just a little paint. I suggest starting with the bathrooms. It is older, but still has many good years.
Friendly staff. Very helpful. The hotel is warm and welcoming. I stay there every time I'm on the Island. Wouldn't consider anything else.
We had an excellent stay here. Breakfast was superb. Food was hot and well cooked. Liked the fact you could make your own toast so it was made as required and not cold and rubbery. Suited our requirements entirely. Bedroom and ensuite clean and comfortable. Would stay here again.

the breakfast room is looking a bit tired
The staff at the Empress were very efficient and cheerful,in particular Ann-Marie,nothing was to much trouble for them. The hotel was clean and inviting. We had a wonderful stay.
EXCELLENT service from young man behind the bar friendly helpful advise on where to go and what to see
Hairdryer in room beds to small
Reception, bar area and restaurant were clean and looked good.
The bedroom needs refurbishing very old fashioned carpet was grubby.
The breakfasts were excellent nothing to complain about
Quite a few stairs not good if you fave walking difficulties
The waiter service was good in the hotel.
The evening meals and the morning breakfast , their could be more choice , IE. boiled eggs, poached eggs . The evening meals more choice on the main menu during the week instead the same every day.
The size of room and sea view. (These front rooms limited). The Piano Lounge. The Food
A tired and unhelpful Staff No facility to help with luggage into the Hotel although requested. Restaurant Closed on a Sunday evening. No Parking apart from in the Street which sometimes resulted in a long walk to the Hotel. Being woken each day by the 6am Tractor nosily clearing the beach in front of the Hotel. Breakfast in the Basement Burgher Bar
Location of hotel and staff
Mattress in first room given, not good, asked to move to another room for better bed. Hotel room a bit tired.
reception and bar area
rooms a bit small and looking on to a wall at back of hotel a bit expensive for a dated hotel
The staff very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast lovely
Friendliness of staff and quality of food. Good value.
Normally stay in room at front but this time stayed in a room on 3rd floor at rear of hotel. The room was very small and looked very tired. The carpets could do with a good clean. The bed was like sleeping on the floor as was very hard as were the pillows. Next time will deffinitely book a room at the front.
The sea view from our window was lovely and the room itself was spacious, but our son's rooms were much smaller with poorer views. Breakfast was great with everything you could want and efficient staff. Bar and reception areas are very elegant.
Rooms and corridors very warm and we were woken by really creaky floorbards above our room! We also found that the check in time of 3pm was very late, even though we had to vacate our room when we left at 11am and were not allowed to stay any later. The receptonist when we booked out was quite unhelpful and abrupt when we enquired about staying another hour.
excellent breakfast, helpful staff, great location.
The room was a single room, on the small side.
Front desk staff not very friendly. Room - not what expected for the $$.
Sadly I had travel difficulties and arrived a day late. I did inform the hotel the afternoon of my arrival date that due to numerous diversions near to the airport I had missed my flight to the IOM but was still charged the full amount for the night of 11th Sept and for breakfast.
