Location was excellent on the promenade and just 10 minutes from harbour and centre Staff friendly and welcoming Service good although at times replacement of buffet food took some time to come out Easy to spot at night with the front lit up in blue floodlights Good bar area and seating overlooking the sea Pool closed and early morning (7am) heating hadn't got up to temperature in sauna and no steam in steam room - gents changing room out of action so prevented use of those facilities anyway Noise from disco at wedding party on Saturday night on first floor

Excellent location and friendly staff. Wonderful update of an old Victorian building. The corridors were well lit and a pleasure to walk down. Public areas gave a good first impression of a modern hotel that wanted to offer a warm welcome. There was plenty of space to sit in and relax. The morning porridge was filling and tasty. The location was superb, a sea view is well worth the money. Extra milk etc always available for your room. We would be happy to return to this hotel should we stay on the island again. Small single lift and on 3rd floor tended to have a lot of static in the lift button, but on mentioning the static were given full assurances that checks had been made and it was perfectly safe

The comfort and cleanliness of this hotel is always good, I have stayed there many times and the quality of the hotel stays very good. It is well placed for my work on the Isle of Man. The down side is the lack of parking as there is only on road parking here. But you can usualy find a place so don't be put off. The quality of the food in the lower floor buffet bar is poor and over priced for what it is. On my last stay I did not enjoy the food in the buffet but gave it a second chance this time. I wish that I had not!!

Everything was very good - for the first time ever when staying in a hotel I actually got a really hot breakfast each morning and the scrambled eggs were light and fluffy, not like rubber! On the down side, the hairdryer in the room was not very good at all and although a new one was installed, the other hairdryers were given to other guests and not returned by them and so I had a problem when I needed to wash my hair. Other than that - an excellent stay in a very nice hotel. I will book there again when I next go to the Isle of Man. The useless hairdryer in the bathroom! Not hot enough and located behind the door, which made it awkward to use.

The hotel was in a good location. The entrance and reception areas, and adjacent bar and restaurant areas were smart, clean and attractive. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Rooms were clean, comfortable and - importantly in view of the cold weather - warm. A faulty television was replaced within minutes of it being reported to reception. Restaurant and Bar food was very good and reasonably priced. Subsequent to booking our room, we were informed that the swimming pool had been closed permanently, which was a bit disappointing.

The hotel staff were very friendly and efficient. Breakfasts were excellent and served in pleasant surroundings. As 70+ year olds our allocated room was a fair distance from the elevator and up two small flights of steps. There seemed to be rooms to spare much more easily accessed, and we wondered why we were allocated our particular room.

Stayed here on two seperate days and was highly delighted with the service and staff. The breakfasts were exceedingly good,a choice of cereals, fruit and yoghourt, and or a full cooked inc. Toast etc. and were provided as a buffet ,which was always topped up efficiently and hot. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the shower/bath was hot,(unusual for such a big hotel). The staff were friendly and courteous and I would stay again. My one dislike about the Empress was the fact that the rooms were not sound proofed. There was noise from rooms on the floor above and late night revellors disturbed me on three seperate occasions on the second nights stay. The bars stay open while ever there is someone drinking and this can go on untill daybreak. The continual banging of doors and loud drunken laughter and chatter spoilt my second nights stay.

This hotel is very good. Some rooms are a bit small to work in at night but have to say room 102 was excellent for space and cleanliness. Food is good in the buffet and staff are really freindly and helpful. Will continue to use this hotel on my trips every month.

Very enjoyable medium priced hotel, with exceptional staff would recommend. The room was small but not so much that it would detract from our stay.

Easy booking and rapid confirmation. Welcome was good on arrival. Well appointed and comfortable room with a well equiped bathroom. Breakfast not an extra, but in with price, and excellent selection of food, low profile but attentive staff. Comfortable lounge spaces. I have been to stay on the island many times over the years and now decided that when I do again it is most likely to be at The Empress. It was good in every way. Thank you all!

Was in easy reach of the Gaiety Theatre as we were there for the Festival. Relaxing hotel and friendly, and we will hopefully stay here on our next visit. There wasn't anything not to dislike on our short stay.

- Center location - Friendly barmen (who even helped me to bring my baggage to the reception) - When arrived there was wedding. Everybody stayed happy - we also have friends on IoM who used this hotel for their wedding and were also happy with almost everything - Paid Wi-Fi !!! (2.95/1 hour or 4.95/24 hours, but internet is very slow as we heard from others, while on our devices internet didn't work at all) - Double Room was VERY small! I would suggest such room for 1 person, but not for 2. We had trouble passing each other - Bathroom was as big as room itself, but there was no steam extractor - Cheap towels that fell apart and didn't dry (our bodies at all) while leaving traces on our bodies and other clothes - Whiskey was very expensive (Macallan)

Very good quality at reasonable price. Courteous, efficient staff. One night spoiled by noise coming from the live band at an evening wedding function. But we were financially compensated for the inconvenience.

Friendliness and helpfulness of staff (including cleaning staff) Excellent breakfasts. Cleanliness Views and location Quite disappointed that although we were there 6 nights we never experienced the piano bar with a pianist playing which would have been the icing on the cake to our excellent stay. ( We have recently met up again after 32 years and this would have been really special !) Never mind we will have to come back again!!!
