Score from 342 reviews Very good
warm, welcoming, helpful staff even on a very busy night comfortable room with all the basics plus free wifi good breakfast and dinner in pub
Convenient location for purpose, i.e. Canterbury/Sandwich
Room a bit on the small side and very warm even though no heating on. The locals made us feel a bit unwelcome in the pub.
Location peaceful and quiet Friendly, helpful staff
Dangerous to exit car park visibility in both directions not good on fast moving road.
The quiet location.
The overcooked meat for supper.
Huge bath, comfortable bed, quiet surrondings, breakfast room very stylish & choice of breakfast (part of the pub that belongs to the house), late check in, free parking. 10 mins drive from Canterbury.
Overall good stay.
We booked this at short notice as unable to find suitable accommodation in Canterbury City centre - what a stroke of luck! The staff were outstanding, rooms really high quality and the pub quaint and welcoming serving a good choice of high quality meals at reasonable prices. Would definitely return
cleanliness, friendliness and helpfulness, we have a small dog who was welcome in the bar and we were made to feel very welcome
The staff were very helpful. I advised that I needed a gluten free diet and they provided nice bread which for anyone who is gluten intolerant will tell you that is quite an achievement. The food was also very good as was the service.
The room was very clean and there was everything we needed in the room We were greeted very well on arrival and everything I asked for on the booking was dealt with.
The prices of the restaurant food
Location was great for visiting Canterbury and the surrounding areas, room wa comfortable and clean, breakfast was good
The hotel was really nice, there was plenty of space in the family room and was very well kept. The location was very convenient, an easy bus ride into Canterbury and the rest of east Kent was easy to reach by car (though Whitstable was a bit more tricky. A good choice for breakfast and very friendly.
Prices were higher than I am used to, though good for Kent so this is a regional rather than establishment issue. We dined there one evening and the Children's meals took a long time to arrive, after the adults main courses which was a problem.
location, plenty of hot water for the shower, very friendly staff, quirky restaurant, real ale selection.excellent deserts.good size room. good breakfast.
pricey meals especially the starters. my sirloin steak which was over £20 was very tough. sloping ceilings in our bedroom which although adding character made getting out of bed tricky .
Its location and services to Canterbury. We wanted to visit Canterbury, this was done with ease. Food was excellant.
The wedding party on Saturday were noisy when they returned but after my wife did a loud 'Shush' things quietened down.
The check-in was quick and easy, as was the check-out. Our room was comfortable, and the bathroom was fine - all spotless and well set out, as always. Breakfast was ok, but not as good as on previous visits, especially on the first of our two days.
Unfortunately, on the first of our two days the atmosphere at breakfast was tense as the waitress was snowed under with orders and guests arriving and they did not have enough tables ready. Their being unprepared and understaffed did nothing for good customer relations, as someone complained that the waitress huffing and puffing was spoiling their holiday. Fair enough, as this is a prime location for lots of national and international tourists. Everyone could see and hear all these issues and breakfast took loads longer, which was a pain. The waitress apologised for the chaos, and the breakfast on our second day was much more relaxed and there were no issues!
Second day at breakfast, young waitresses were very polite and accommodating
First morning at breakfast older waitress was rude, sullen and indifferent
Pleasant "home feel", Staff obliging and considerate of elder couples needs.
Access to Dining Areas.
all was ok. Very good contact with Evenhill team Breakfast perfect Restaurant choice, and quality very good. Will recommend it to any French people interested to visit Kent Area
excellent customer service, lovely room, comfortable beds, didn't have to go out anywhere else for food in the evening. easy reach of ferry terminal at Dover in the morning.
We chose this because as a family of four on a budget we go for family rooms rather than two doubles. With the girls being young teenagers now they welcome some privacy and on the website it looked as if the beds at their end of the room were around the corner from us but they certainly weren't, but oh well, it was for only one night. We were glad to be able to eat on site as we had had a long drive but I'm afraid the quality of the evening meal didn't quite match up to the quality of the room, it was just ok which was disappointing. Breakfast good though.
slow service no wifi in room even though advertised noisy around the rooms
The accommodation was amazing and the staff were exceptional. Would definitely recommend to friends and family and will definitely revisit
Quiet location, also the room was separate from the pub. Bath and shower in room - a real treat !!
Found the bed too hard. Didn't sleep well - such a pity as everything else was perfect.
great staff, good food and room.
Quiet, lovely old building with separate sleeping accommodation in the old barn. My wife loved the large bath, many now only have showers, great breakfast. Only 30 mins from Dover for the ferries. Helpful friendly staff.
Excellent service. Spotlessly clean. Very good value. Lovely homemade food.
Only complaint was breakfast waitress was unfriendly and didn't explain the system. In fact she barely grunted at us when we asked her questions.
