Lovely rooms, not huge but nicely furnished with excellent bathrooms. Bedrooms in the old coach house so away from the main Inn, just far enough for it not to be noisy. Pleasant helpful staff both at reception and in the restaurant. At dinner portion sizes were very generous and food, while not gourmet, was interesting, well cooked and presented. Starters and mains were very nice - especially the belly pork - and better than desert, which was ok but not as good as the first two courses. Very little to find fault with with the possible exception of breakfast which was nice but deeply inconvenient if you are seated upstairs, which our party of 6 (4 adults and 2 children) was. Tea, but no milk, was brought to the table but all other drinks, milk, cereals and sugar etc were down a fairly steep flight of stairs. No small jugs for milk for tea were in evidence so we put some in a juice glass and carried that up - very dribbly when poured.

The staff were generally very attentive particularly on arrival. the young lady showed us to our room and explained everything. The food was excellent with a good menu. Accomodation very good, quiet away from the road. Not enough kitchen staff. First morning only one waiter and had to wait considerable amount of time, not even asked what we wanted to drink. we were a party of six and had eaten the previous evening in the restaurant yet breakfast table not set for six. Very slow service on Saturday eveing in restaurant, not enough staff. Despite this would return.

It's the second time we've stayed there on business. Superbly run, attentive and friendly staff, beautiful converted barn accommodation area and atmospheric bar and eating area. Great rooms with an ensuite corner bath and shower, brilliant heating system explained by the staff, everything you'd expect in a room equipment-wise. The food is fabulous! Great range of evening meals and a first-class breakfast. Massive car park is also a bonus. Can't beat it - and we'd definitely go out of our way to drive there from most places in South Kent.

The staff were all very friendly and competent. The mattress was very uncomfortable and the bedstead very rickety. There were also 2 lights without bulbs and the tv could do with updating. I would recommend eating in the restaurant if you are not in any hurry. The food takes a long time when busy but well worth the wait.

The rooms were extremely clean, cleaner than any other hotel I've ever stayed in in England (and cheaper too, with very nice complimentary toiletries). The staff is excellent, very helpful and friendly. Full English breakfast was fantastic, and cooked for us, instead of the usual buffet style rubbish you usually get. We came with a baby and 2 dogs, all no problem. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely return!

Second time here, service even more impressive than before. Good Value and welcoming atmosphere, handy for canterbury and yet in countryside. Time to sort the slopes out on the tables in the restaurant!!

Couldn't have wished for a better location for a base. The hotel excelled itself in every aspect and all the staff were lovely and friendly. We even saw the cook in the morning (between orders) out helping to clear a pathway from the separate accommodation to the hotel for breakfast due to the overnight snow.

The Evenhill surpassed all of my expectations. From the warm welcome and introduction to our room when we arrived, through to the attentive staff and waitresses in the restaurant, it was an excellent experience that I will certainly be repeating. The bar is particularly cosy, with an open fireplace and oak beamed ceiling. The rooms are smart and equiped with everything you would expect. The bathroom even had a corner bath and luxury shower. When you consider the cost of our stay, and the very reasonable restaurant prices for what can only be descibed as excellent food, this hotel really is one not to be missed. I guarantee you will leave feeling relaxed, we certainly did.

I have stayed in hotel Evenhill with my 11 years old son when we visited the town of Canterbury. The room was located immediately behind the main building of the pub, very clean and spacious. We have made quick check in and then pave passed a wonderful evening, dining in a pub.. Great choice of dishes, very tasteful and good beer! I would recommend this hotel to everybody who is viisting Canterbury and wants to stay in a quiet and nice place. Big parking for a car and very eassy to find the place, right on the main road, 5 minutes from Canterbury.

The Evenhill was very functional and filled our requirements perfectly. However it also had atmosphere in the main pub and gave us a first class breakfast. Good service from all we saw The motel area was a bit noisy at nights with the self-closing doors being a bit heavy.

We first stayed at the Evenhill after an internet search. Our first stay was so pleasant that we will use the Evenhill again when we are over that way and have recommended it to many of our friends. Excellent value for money, great service, friendly staff, relaxed attitude. Nothing that matters

“Comfortable, on the sea front. We had a sea view room. It was our wedding anniversary and we like Whitstable because we can walk along the sea front and also visit the fish market and harbour. We had our evening meal in the hotel which was very nice. Our breakfast the next morning was very good.” Angela, Basildon |
