The location was ideal for our visit with clean rooms and very friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble. Canterbury travel was available as a bus stop was on their doorstep. Well done Evenhill.
We found nothing to dislike.
Clean rooms Nice pub and restaurant Exellent food Close to Canterbury
The bed squeeked Metal of the bed was loose A bit noisy
Very good food
Thin walls between rooms
Nothing to dislike !!
Location - real ale bar - lovely large room - very good over all - would highly recommend.
Nothing - everything was great
we thought the staff were amazing and they made our stay brilliant. The facilities were better than expected and we would definitely come back again
The attentive, friendly staff
The service was excellent; genuinely welcoming and helpful. The breakfast was best of British, but with a variety for those of us who stayed more than a few days. Good meals available at the pub attached, also. Excellent location for those with a car, though probably less so for folks on foot. Clean and safe, also.
The size of the rooms meant you did not really want to have more than two medium suitcases with you; the beds were, therefore, also of a smaller scale. But these two points were only enough to warrant a drop in comfort to good from excellent. Hence, we rated the Evenhill as excellent value for money.
Stayed at this place a number of years back, still staffed by the same people.Good clean accommodation good food quality, Very polite and helpful staff.
Quality of the bed mattresses is the only negative I can think of, Caused both me and the wife back ache thus restless sleep.
The room was very nice and clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The room was also a decent size.
The street fronting was very dark and uninviting. There is no reception area and not even a doorbell or buzzer to get into the building. However, I phoned the number posted on the door and was answered promptly and let into the building. Also, I didn't find the breakfast substantial enough to be worth bothering with. If all you want is fruit and cereal, toast, etc. then it would be fine.
The welcome on arrival from the owner/manager? The service in the restaurant and the surroundings. The beds were comfortable and tea and coffee making facilities much appreciated. From someone who has traveled widely this is a little gem!
Rather untidy approach to the restaurant if one opts to enter by the alternative route to the main reception....but not really a problem.
Located just outside Canterbury, the Evenhill had all the charm of a pub and all the comfort of a hotel. The restaurant served really high quality food in charming rustic surroundings. Great breakfast included in room rate- all round great value for money.
The owner Frederick and the other young man at the front desk were very welcoming and went the extra mile to make our stay a great experience. Our room was spacious and very clean so although we were 3 - 4 adults sometimes, we never felt cramped. Returning the second time was like coming home. Would definitely be back.
Staff excellent. Lovely village and pub. Good food. Clean cosy room. Good bedding and towels. Opposite bus stop ten mins to city centre on bus. Lots of parking. Good choice tv channels. Generous with toiletries. Big bath.
Bed too soft. Some other guests noisy but generally very quiet location. Limited choice at breakfast not many healthy options.
Was not of the same standard as other 4 * hotels we have stayed in
Easy to find bit out on a limb though, old charm. very pleasant and attentive staff including the proprieter, excellent food and breakfast. Reasonable price of drinks.
Not much else to do.
Size, cleanliness and comfort of the room. Proximity to Canterbury, excellent bar and restaurant, free large parking, free internet, very professional young staff.
- Friendly, helpful staff; - Excellent room and bar facilities; - Great value for money; - Convenient bus stop just opposite to go into Canterbury and surrounding areas; - Spacious parking for personal vehicles; - Generous breakfast included in room price.
- No motorcycle parking, had to use car space; - Nothing else really, my girlfriend and myself enjoyed our stay and had no complaints.
Excellent evening meal with Freshly cooked young veg. Meals are in the pub buildilnglwith an upstairs dining room. Breakfast also freshly prepared.
A bit far from Canterbury
One night, late check in, friendly informative welcome, room fine for price can't complain really. Dinner and drinks at bar good quality and well priced again. Breakfast great and then gone. Thanks to staff and would recommend for specific type stays.
Food excellent, service was great, beers in the bar superb, room was light and spacious, lovely deep bath with plenty of hot water, comfortable mattress, plenty of parking, handy location for visiting Canterbury, but out of the hussle and bustle.
Only one minor thing is that the room next to us must have the bath next to our headboard, so when the guest woke up really early on a Sunday morning and ran a bath we were disturbed by the noise so missed our lay in!
The personal is pleasant, ideally for a long weekend trip, very calm and clean, the full was great
warm, welcoming, helpful staff even on a very busy night comfortable room with all the basics plus free wifi good breakfast and dinner in pub
Convenient location for purpose, i.e. Canterbury/Sandwich
Room a bit on the small side and very warm even though no heating on. The locals made us feel a bit unwelcome in the pub.
