The Fountain Inn overlooks the River Medina and has harbor views from its heated patio. It offers free Wi-Fi, a good breakfast and live music on Friday and Saturday nights. Located in West Cowes, only a few steps from the ferry terminal, the Fountain is also just one mile from Cowes’ seafront. The third President of the United States, Thomas Jefferson, stayed at the inn with his entourage after a state visit in 1789. The restaurant serves a wide selection of freshly prepared traditional favorites, and the bar offers some light, tasty snacks and meals. In the summer, guests can eat outside on the terrace. All bedrooms at the Fountain Inn are decorated in warm tones and have a private bathroom. They also feature a TV, a hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. Some have sea views. Hotel Rooms: 20, Hotel Chain: Old English Inns.

Location in Cowes is excellent, as hotel is a few steps from the redjet ferry terminal and in the centre of the port of west Cowes. Breakfast is very good and the hotel bar does variety of evening meals.

Staff friendly and facilities ok. Pub style hotel with coffee shop attached. Breakfast good. Convenient for central Cowes, shops & restaurants etc. A bit of a drag up to the third floor - obviously no lift owing to age of building. Small attic style room overlooking the High Street. Not the best room ever seen especially with sloping ceilings not really suitable for the 6ft plus. Even 5ft something wife managed to bang her head. Room still noisey from traffic, even three floors up. Would have been fine if used for a single occupant. No parking is a bit of a challenge but ok to overcome for short break might not suit all as nearest parking 10 min walk away.

The location was perfect for our visit to see family on the IOW. As a pub was very convenient for our needs with breakfast included and a great selection and at chef quality. The rooms were in good condition and bathrooms very clean and a good size for an old building. The only thing is don't take your car. There is no parking on the island and none anywhere near the hotel. But as a hotel in the middle of town it is perfect. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. As a pub is was a bit noisy. And the pub next door was more popular and very noisy at night as the smokers were out the back making merry outside which echoed aorund the the rear square area.

Fantastic location , central position and easy going staff . We booked the last double available so can't complain too much that it wasn't the best room on offer , however we did expect a double bed, the 3/4 bed was too small . Cleanliness wasn't great with dust on the kettle and rubbish down by the bedside table . Could have been better.

Reception and other staff very friendly indeed - nothing too much trouble. The room I booked (the only superior one) was excellent. Others not so good but adequate and clean. Breakfast brilliant and of course very convenient for Red Jet, buses, taxis, etc. Staircases and corridors grubby and dingy - deperately in need of re- decoration as they do not give first impression.

Location is very good - central to RedJet ferry, and also Southern Vectis round the island bus services. We covered the whole island in 2 days with the buses. Hotel is quaint and great atmosphere. Location over a bar on a noisy Friday night with drunken youths outside.

My room was small for a double room but the bed was very comfortable and the bedlinen very crisp and clean. Breakfast was very good and the lady who was singlehandedly serving was exceptionally helpful and kind despite being rushed off her feet. In appearance the hotel interior was very disappointing and a little tatty. It was not great to have to carry cases up to the third floor and I was surprised there was no lift. Not sure that the open staircases are fireproof and seemed to make the presence of firedoors on each floor rather redundant. My room was directly over a noisy pub and I was kept awake until very late. However, I think this would be inevitable in this town centre location. It would not have made much difference to close the one small window and as it was a very hot night and there is no air-conditioning in the room this would not have been desirable.

Excellent location, right on the high street in Cowes. Comfortable and clean and very friendly staff. The breakfast dining room was a bit dirty, however we did arrive at the end of breakfast so no complaints really!

The location was ideal since the foot passenger ferry arrives and departs a minute away from the hotel, as does an excellent bus service to other parts of the island. Good beds, plenty of wardrobe space, everything as described online. An interesting building - each of our rooms was different. Breakfast was good, and staff were very pleasant with our large group, including with active toddler. Very good value - we'd use it again if we return to Cowes. A pity there's no car park, but that's fair enough in an older building in the town centre.
