The Fountain Inn overlooks the River Medina and has harbor views from its heated patio. It offers free Wi-Fi, a good breakfast and live music on Friday and Saturday nights. Located in West Cowes, only a few steps from the ferry terminal, the Fountain is also just one mile from Cowes’ seafront. The third President of the United States, Thomas Jefferson, stayed at the inn with his entourage after a state visit in 1789. The restaurant serves a wide selection of freshly prepared traditional favorites, and the bar offers some light, tasty snacks and meals. In the summer, guests can eat outside on the terrace. All bedrooms at the Fountain Inn are decorated in warm tones and have a private bathroom. They also feature a TV, a hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. Some have sea views. Hotel Rooms: 20, Hotel Chain: Old English Inns. Most recent booking for this hotel was at 07:10 from United Kingdom.

The staff were extremely helpful and the reception welcoming and friendly. They did everything possible to make my stay comfortable. However, the decor was tatty, the furniture cheap, the room small, the toiletries cheap and the hotel seemed to me to belong in a budget price band; I would expect to pay around £40-£50 for a hotel of this quality rather than the £104 it cost. I am sorry to say this as the people were very nice.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast chioices excellent as was the food. Excellent town centre location. The bar had a feel of a local with excellent range of drinks. Looking a bit "tired" in parts. Could do with a minor makeover, lick of paint and some new carpeting. Street noise at weekends, but I booked having an idea that might be the case.

My daughter and I stayed one night at The Fountain - she was to begin a training course the following day. Location was perfect - straight off the passenger ferry at Cowes, walk a few steps left and you are there :) We received a very warm greeting, we could hear locals in the bar watching football on tv, the place sounded lively and felt relaxed and welcoming. Once we had negotiated the 3 flights' of stairs with our bags, we went down to the bar area to investigate... Sunday lunch was still being served, though there was also a variety of other dishes available including special offers - we opted for the Sunday Roast and a bottle of wine - very tasty it was too, and all realistically priced. Our room was warm, clean and cosy. The bathroom was modern, spacious and most importantly, spotlessly clean!! The room had tea/coffee facilities. Breakfast was included the following morning in our deal - the menu choice was huge - something for everyone, as well as the juices, tea/coffee, fresh fruit, yoghurts, cereals, toast and pastries, there was full english, kippers, smoked salmon/scrambled eggs, egg bededict etc etc Reception staff were very smiley, as were bar and restaurant staff - We travel an awful lot, this hotel, although old and worn, was everything and more we expected. I would have no hesitation in recommending it, and would be totally happy staying there again. A lift would have been bliss due to the amount of heavy bags we had, but l accept, in old buildings', this isnt always possible and it would not stop me returning.

The location was perfect for our visit to see family on the IOW. As a pub was very convenient for our needs with breakfast included and a great selection and at chef quality. The rooms were in good condition and bathrooms very clean and a good size for an old building. The only thing is don't take your car. There is no parking on the island and none anywhere near the hotel. But as a hotel in the middle of town it is perfect. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. As a pub is was a bit noisy. And the pub next door was more popular and very noisy at night as the smokers were out the back making merry outside which echoed aorund the the rear square area.

Fantastic location , central position and easy going staff . We booked the last double available so can't complain too much that it wasn't the best room on offer , however we did expect a double bed, the 3/4 bed was too small . Cleanliness wasn't great with dust on the kettle and rubbish down by the bedside table . Could have been better.

My room was small for a double room but the bed was very comfortable and the bedlinen very crisp and clean. Breakfast was very good and the lady who was singlehandedly serving was exceptionally helpful and kind despite being rushed off her feet. In appearance the hotel interior was very disappointing and a little tatty. It was not great to have to carry cases up to the third floor and I was surprised there was no lift. Not sure that the open staircases are fireproof and seemed to make the presence of firedoors on each floor rather redundant. My room was directly over a noisy pub and I was kept awake until very late. However, I think this would be inevitable in this town centre location. It would not have made much difference to close the one small window and as it was a very hot night and there is no air-conditioning in the room this would not have been desirable.

Sloping roof to most of the room. Not good if you're over 4foot!!. The wrapped soap that was in our bathroom had somebody else's pubic hair and head hair wrapped around it! There were also brown splatter marks across the sink. Could not understand that since our room had only just been cleaned why it was in this mess.

Easy access to the town and nice walks along the front of Cowes. Nice to watch sailing! Very noisy late at night especially when you have a room on facing the front of the town walks.

The staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful. The room was very good with a large, clean bathroom. Breakfast was especially good. We took our dog and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. The lack of parking (which was clearly explained beforehand) did cause a bit of a problem.

The Fountain Inn was 'grubby' with a poor standard of cleaniness in both the room and the dining room. It was really noisey during the night and overall the it was in need of clean carpets and a coat of paint throughout. Really dissappointed.

Location is perfect for arrival on Red Jet Good terrace bar Excellent breakfast served by really caring waitress and waiter We stayed in the most basic room type but had no complaints on room Bed very good lovely high quality sheets Bathroom with bath and shower overhead was really well planned Perfect location for yachties like us as only 2 mins walk from yacht harbour Shops restaurants etc only minutes from hotel door Only negative was some noise from street and traffic but we considered this acceptable as this part and parcel of its central location which we enjoyed
