Mercure Francis Bath

Staff were friendly and efficient (apart from one older female member of staff on reception who was rather curt), our room was very near reception which was convenient, yet we weren't troubled by noise, our room was furnished nicely in a contemporary style which we like, and the location is fantastic, right in the middle of the city, perfect for xmas shopping like we were!

There was only luke warm water available for a bath or shower - not good after a day shopping in the freezing cold. In order to plug the kettle in we had to put it on the floor - not very safe, there was no electric socket near the tray or table. The bed was a little bit hard, and squeaked terribly - not good when you're on your wedding anniversary!!!

The location is perfect for shopping. The public rooms - bar, lounge, dining room are very well designed and set out. The bed was very comfortable. the staff were friendly, when you could find them.

The reception staff were very friendly and helpful but it seemed that they were a bit understaffed and it was sometimes difficult to find anyone. Also, when my friends and I came back to the hotel at the end of the evening we were unable to find the barman to order a second round of drinks although the bar was still quite busy. The bedroom looked as it was due for a refurbishment and the loo was stained and could have done with a more thorough clean.

The hotel's location was excellent a short walk from the centre of Bath. The staff were excellent and the breakfast menu varied and good. It was lovely to stay in a hotel that had real atmosphere .

The staff were ok but not particularly friendly or helpful. Dinner was poor and we, and another table, were offered 3 x 4 oz steaks when they had run out of sirloin steaks! The menu choice was poor and very limited.

Local to the sites of Bath. Very good breakfast. Friendly staff.

Heating did not work so we needed an electric heater to be added to the room. The windows did not close properly and the net curtains were dirty.

Old fashioned hotel, with very noisy floorboards! Good breakfast and excellent location in the city.

We stayed on 1st floor. I think the 49ers were checking out of the room above on our first morning - poor sound insulation due to age of hotel building.

The room was lovely and had everything we needed. The Breakfast was excellant with a good choice of food.

The location was great. I enjoyed the restaurant, it has added light meals on the menu since my last visit which suited me better.

The television ariel socket was faulty which made the reception bad.

In very quiet room as requested, no noise from hotel or city. Great location, very comfortable, nice dining room with great selection for breakfast.

Reception and serving staff were extremely friendly and helpful, some of the best I have ever encountered. The location was perfect for seeing all that Bath has to offer.

The hotel was extremely tired, our room was not becoming of a hotel of such stature as opposed to the price that we paid.

This hotel is within a short walking distance from the centre of Bath. Make sure you ask for a refurbished room when booking. The hotel is generally comfortable with spacious dining and public areas. Our allocated room was too hot and we were offered a cooler room with a window that could be opened.

Guests are charged an additional £12 per night to park their car in the hotel car park.
