A 2-minute drive from the medieval town of Much Wenlock, The Plume of Feathers in Harley offers bed and breakfast in the Shropshire Hills.
Score from 117 reviews Very good
In the heart of historic Shrewsbury, The Prince Rupert Hotel offers period features and traditional charm. Once home to Prince Rupert, the timber-framed hotel features a health club and 2 restaurants....

Duken Courtyard Cottage is set in the rural hamlet of Wootton, just over 5 miles from Bridgnorth, right off the A458 road.

The Bull's Head is an 18th-century country inn set amidst Shropshire's hills, with stunning views over the Severn Valley, Clee Hills, and the Chelmarsh Sailing Club.

Disappointed that there was no cooked breakfast, although it was Christmas Day....
Friendliness of staff in the restaurant was excellent, and the location in Much Wenlock was good. Easy to find, and lovely spacious room (the Coach House) which was perfect for my young family with two seperate bedrooms and a small lounge and kitchen area. My only small problem with the bill on departure was politely and quickly resolved!
The staff in the bar were a little busy and were abrupt rather than friendly. The price seemed high for what is now a well presented but tired hotel. The manager had made a sizeable mistake on totting up our bill - but was very apologetic and sorted it out very quickly.
The staff were polite, friendly and helpful. The hotel was very clean and had a homely feel to it. The food was good value for the amount paid. I would recommend the hotel to my friends and family.
I didn't like the hole in the wall made by fire door handle when a door stop would have prevented this.
everything very nice. staff helpful and pleasant.
would have liked breakfast a little bit later on the weekend, perhaps up to 9.30.
Quality and value of food; Guest Real ales on the bar; Very good parking facilities; Attentive staff; Comfortable lounge, though small.
On a busy corner, traffic lights controlled, which was disturbing in the early hours. Similarly the room was just above the bar and kitchen area. The former not intrusive, but the latter started early with food prep (has to be done, though). Overall, the premises were a bit tired and could benefit from a refurb in some areas, but that may be on the plan.
Ideal location for visiting area
Atmosphere and genuine concern of staff
Water pressure in shower
Excellent breakfast, wide choice and generous amount.
Easy to find, good location and good parking. Traditional country pub type hotel. Good nights sleep with a good breakfast. Staff are friendly and efficient.
The shower in the room I had was an electric type and was very poor indeed! This was the only criticism of a very good stay, and didn't apply to the rooms my friends stayed in.
The hotel affords easy access to the picturesque town of Much Wenlock. It is located on the edge of the town and our room was quiet at night, and clean.
Our twin mews room didn't resemble the photos on booking.com. The room had only 2 small windows facing the car park and was too small for bed-side tables or a wardrobe. The heating controller was difficult to use, with no instructions. The room's seating area was up stairs, hence inaccessible to my companion.
The cleanliness, value for money of the mews apartment. Lovely atmosphere in the bar:excellent breakfasts.
I thought the menu was a bit average-the meal I had one evening during my stay was no more than average pub quality, although just about acceptable. The menu choices were too traditional and humdrum for my tastes.
real nice & friendly staff comfortable rooms excellent breakfast
food was expensive for what you got in the restraunt
Comfort and friendliness
Early finish to breakfast
The room size how clean the room was the facilities in the room,Staff really friendly and helpful.
Breakfast times little to early for a chill out break,Proximity to the main road.
Old world charm and excellent dinning especially breakfast.
Was first offered one of the outside cabins which I do not like however this was soon charged to a room within the Hotel
Breakfast was excellent.
Booked a suite and got a 2 floor mews cottage. Inconvenient for us with only moderate mobility. The price for the suite was 50% higher than a room price and therefore not great value.
Wood lice on bedding
The room was really nice and bright, clean and comfortable. The stairs were close by and led down to the Dining Room and Bar. The staff were friendly especially the young man who booked us in. The breakfast was excellent.
When we came to leave the following morning and pay the bill we were dealt with by the lady proprietor. We originally booked a double room for 1night at £90. We were later contacted on-line and offered an upgrade to a suite for £120 which we accepted, but emailed them back to ask was the suite in an annexe to which they replied it was, so we asked to revert back to the double room which they said was no problem. When presented with the bill it was for £120 which we queried because we reverted back to the double room. The lady then said the room cost was £95 because she had to pay commission to Booking.com, in other words passed on to the customer!! At the same time we told her the shower did not work, her answer was "we should have said the previous night". But we did not try the shower until the morning. She totally ignored us on this. We did not like her attitude and felt the price charged was just sharp practice. This soured our stay in a beautiful part of the Country and unfortunately will not return to The Gaskell Arms.
Everything it was perfect.
Tried to find something I didn't like but couldn't .
The food and service were terriffic!
Very much enjoyed the people, the food and the location in Much Wenlock.
The area was a bit loud when the bar let out, or when people came home from there.
Very helpful and friendly staff. Spacious mews rooms and very good food
Staff friendly and helpful. Room clean and spacious. Cooked breakfast good.
Decor old fashioned and fussy. Constant rumble of traffic (but not surprising as hotel located on road junction - which did in itself give this hotel a good location). When booking I thought I had booked one of the mews rooms - so booking site not clear.
rooms spacious and clean
the cost of eve meals in resturaunt could get the same in pubs resturaunts in the town but not the same setting
good breakfast and friendly staff
poor shower room 15
