The hostel's location was great for a city trip. Close to public transport, restaurants, supermarkets, the British Museum and lots of parks. The staff were very helpful. We felt very safe coming and going at night. We did have a private twin room which made all the difference for me as an older traveller.Being able to have breakfast 'til 11am was great as was the free left luggage facility when arriving early or checking out with later flight. Having stayed in the Berlin Generator Hostel, which supplied towels and breakfast which included proper fruit juice, rolls, cheese and ham I was disappointed with the limited cereal, toast and sugared drinks on offer in London.

The staff of the hostel were overall quite friendly and very helpful, especially the younger lad on the door outside. He was really welcoming and helped us throughout our stay with any queries we had and even with our bags when we were departing. The location was really fantastic and the area was really nice. The noise in the evening was actually quite low, mostly we could hear the faint sound of music from the bar-which is to be expected and did not bother us too much. Any noise such as people talking , either inside or outside was quickly stopped and therefore posed no major problems. I would definitely recommend it to my other friends and to plan to stay there again on my next trip to London. The only issue I had was with the showers. I felt that they needed a waterproof box or container inside them. This would allow for a more easy stress free shower. On my first night of taking a shower I left my belongings (just jeans and a tshirt) along the walls outside the showers- along side everyone else's belongings. However I came out and my belongings had been moved and the change in my jean pockets was gone. It wasn't very much just 1 or two pounds but it made me feel distrustful of other guests. I think some sort of container inside the shower could prevent these issues.

The staff was very friendly and helpful if where to catch buses and how to get around the city ! The rooms were tiny! There was 4 of us in a room and with everyones luggage our stuff was on top of each others stuff- kind of annoying when u get home at night ands roommate is sleeping and u got to look for ur stuff

The hostel is well located and cheap. The room was very clean and the beds were really confortable. The toilets were very clean. The tour is cool, but it's not done by the hostel! It's an independent service provided by some company. it's "free", but you're supposed to tip at the end. Nevertheless, i think it's woth doing it, just don't think it's something the hostel offers to you... There's a really terrible sound isolation: it's the first time in 10 or 15 hostels I've been that I needed to buy ear plugs the 2nd night. You ear every single door closing or opening in your corridor: and since the hostel is huge, there's about 20 rooms per corridor, opening and closing all night long. Since I couldn't sleep, I must have counted around 30 times doors banging. Eventually I could get some sleep around 3am... By the way, I previously asked for a "quiet" room, concerned about other people's feedback on this website. It seems that the lower floors are even worse than were I was. Breakfast isn't woth 4.5£ if you look for some quality, beacause even if you can eat what you want, there's only cheap stuff. At last, there is a 20cm step between the flor and the so called "wheelchair friendly shower". Ridiculous...

Lodging in London is very expensive in general, we realize that. We were looking for cheap lodging and chose Generator based mainly on reviews. We paid more than we wanted to, but we did not receive value or comfort. The lift worked only intermittently. With large luggage, and a multi-story building, a working lift is essential. The room was small and cramped. As a family of 4 adults, we had to take turns stepping out of the room to allow others to unpack and get dressed. Thankfully we were not bunked with strangers. We wanted a location close to Kings' Cross & St Pancras stations. While not far, it was still a good 10-15 minute walk with luggage. We never would have found it if we hadn't used a taxi when we first arrived. On arrival at the building, you must climb a significant number of stairs to reach the entrance. There is a wheelchair entrance but you must contact the front desk, which we did. Use is strictly limited to persons with wheelchairs only! A senior with a cane, sore back, and large luggage must use the stairs. All in all, a crappy place to stay in London. The other place we stayed in London a couple weeks later was miserable too. Are we bad at picking them, or is this something common to London?

It is five mins walk to train station and not far away from British Museum. Staff are nice. There is tap in the room. Second day, toilet goes bad, and third day, no hot water.

The staff are very helpful and friendly, and are always ready to help out with whatever you may need or ask for. The hostel is generally a good place to meet fellow travelers and socialize with other people. The showers are good and clean, the beds are clean and comfortable. The breakfast isn't spectacular but there's always enough food for everyone. Food is clean and it tastes good. All in all my stay there was very good and I had a great time. I would recommend and would definitely stay there again next time I'm in London. The wifi lounge/area tends to get a little bit crowded and that's they only place you can charge your mobile phone. There should be power outlets in the rooms, it would make it a lot easier.

Great value for money. Stayed at a private 6-bed room with comfortable space and beds. Excellent security with guards 24h. Very professional. Friendly neighbourhood, little noise. Not included breakfast. For 4,5 pounds sterling it was not very good value for money. Some showers were out of order.

Most of all, location and cleanliness. We did not spend much time in the hostel, as we were always out for sightseeing. However, we did like the overall experience and the Hostel's Bar! The hostel is rather big and some corridors are a bit scary in the sense that you don't feel that cosiness you're looking for after a long sightseeing day. However, giving the price range of London accommodation, we really felt that it was good value for money.

Well organised and safe hostel. Unfortunately, there is a small towel not included for our bed. Instead of numbering the beds would be a good towel next time:-) don't forget home your padlock !

Our private room was spacy. We went to take a shower at evenings, no queues. Breakfast not included but with £4,5 you got a decent breakfast with all you can eat. Free wifi in common room was nice Even with heating, the room was bit too cold for our liking.

Really cheap bed in central london, really can't complain. Also a team of securities were constantly at the front door, really friendly and helpful, as well as making you feel safe! Only one big shower room at the end of the corridor, quite far away from my room and so have to bring everything with me to take a shower if I don't want to wake down the long corridor with a towel. There is also a lack of rack to hang up dry clothings in the shower area...

It stood very close to a tube station that could take you almost everywhere, that was a major plus, lots of places to get snack nearby if you don't want to use the bar/restaurant facilities. The check-in staff were very helpful and the breakfast selection was very satisfactory and with a wide choosing range. The corridors were quiet and the bathrooms were super clean, at least the girls one was and you can buy towels if you haven't brought one. The room had an removable European electric plug in one of the plugs which was really useful and I praise them for it. A nice stay all in all, good to stay a night or two to meet the city. The room was a bit too small even if it was a 4 bed (two bunkers) room. You have to bring your own padlock for the lockers (they don't mention it on the site where I made the booking), it smelled a little although my roommates said it was caused by one of the guests there and finally, in a room for 4 people there were 6 in the room, which displeased me a lot. That must've been an isolated case, still it was what displeased me the most in my stay.

The hostel is very systematic. Everywhere are so clean. Common areas are spacious, lots of socket for people to charge the gadgets :) Save luggage room (with lock). Shower room is clean! The walls are quite thin so it'd be a bit noisy if you are a absolutely no-noise sleeper.

Close to stations, friendly, convenient, well organised Very noisy first night, especially slamming doors. Is very hard to close doors quietly and most people seemed determined to slam them as loudly as possible, especially at 2 in the morning! Was better second night
