The location of Generator Hostel in London is fantastic. I like the fact that there is good security around the hostel and the beds are really comfy!
The female toilets at level 5 didn't function well when we were there - always choked up!
Would definitely stay here again if I revisit London.
Location, facilities, cheap breakfast, night security.
Some staff members (2 girls), small bathroom and no hangers
The price the crisp cleanbrooms and linen great shower and toilet facilities late bar and chill out areas.....
Breakfast wasnt to my taste.
great bar and lounge area clean bathrooms great rainshowers near subway russel square
location, cleanliness, space for leaving your staff in the bedrooms
the bed was noisy (metal base beds) and the heating as well; I would suggest curtains to give some privacy to each bunkbed and single lights, so you don´t have to walk around the room in complete darkness...and definetely, changing the base beds!!
lot of entertainment at the hotel and location is excellent :)
rooms are very small and bath too small :)
Great assistance from Eszter!
Nothing.. As they say: "we will be back" !!
It is hard to find fault in the Generator Hostel, London. The location, staff, rooms, facilities are all top notch.
The security staff. Our stay was made feel like a prison camp by the rude security following us from each area of the hostel to the next, asking us not only for our key cards (which we understood) but Passport Identification, too, and talkling down to us like we were children day and night when we caused no trouble or disruptive noise (particularly in comparison to other guests). I would make a point of recommending this Hostel to everyone if the security staff had not been so rude to my friends and I. There is nothing stopping you from running a tight security presence whilst being polite and mannerly to your paying guests. I cannot stress enough how horrible your security staff made us feel.
Clean place, rather comfortable beds (more than what we expected for the price), projection room : 2 movies every evening, lockers room very useful on departure day, bar to chill out in the evening after a long day, nice cafeteria with affordable dishes
Staff knocking on the dorm's door at 7.30 (and waiting for someone to open the door) to tell that the breakfast had started. Very noisy and scary alarm bell at 8.30, we were extremely happy to have set a gentle alarm clock on our mobile phone at 8.25...
Cafe, lounge, bar, free cinema room, friendly stuff
No signs (direction) for reception when using night entrance
Great location - in between 3 tube stations.
On level two you can hear the bar downstairs very loudly and it doesn't shut until 2am. Also, the heaters are unable to be turned off and with a tiny window, this was a big drawback.
Affordable price for a great location in London. Clean and comfortable rooms. Wifi. I liked the movie room, except...
...there was'nt a very large panel of movies and Scarface was missing Our room was above the smoker area behind the the place so, a little noise at night.
it was clean. wifi was fast.
I requested to be placed near the Toilet since i always pee at night but no, the receptionist put my in the far end which i hated so bad.
The cleanliness and position.
It was raining on the second night we slept at the hostel. The problem is that there was a leakage so it was raining inside our room! We had our room changed and a member of staff apologised for the inconvenience.
The location, the readiness of the personnel to provide information, the safety.
The breakfast was quite basic, the coffee was not drinkable.
Really cool place. Stayed 1 night arriving very late which the hostel was fine with. Twin room was excellent as we're shared showers. All VERY clean, especially as this is a large hostel. Great design, and brilliant facilities. Will be staying again for longer. Really social atmosphere with great location.
Good location, modern and great value for money
Fantastic design, great actives (movies twice a night, trivia and karaoke pub nights), place is a buzz with lots of people, great security and great location!
Showers are very clean, but don't have any place to set your personal items (clothes, soaps, shampoos, etc.)
Cleanliness: never saw the toilets or showers dirty. Atmosphere: Very modern and cool vibe Facilities: Lounges, bar, pool table Location: Right near Kings Cross and Russell Square
Small room for 4 with luggage One tiny flat pillow, small single duvet One lift for whole building
The price is very competitive for the hostel's location in London and the rooms and shared toilet/shower facilities are excellent. A very modern re-fit to the interior makes it feel like a very welcoming and youthful venue, with nice extras like floors being named and themed after classic British TV shows and a free photo booth. The bar turned into an impromptu nightclub later on, much to our pleasant surprise, which was popular and lively. Security guards are on hand at the entrance 24/7 to guarantee safety. The wi-fi is amazingly quick and the quiet room we requested, up on the fifth floor, was just as advertised. Despite the spartan facilities, they're very comfortable and sensibly designed to maximise space.
The bar/nightclub was a great extra (and the sound didn't travel to our floor at all) but the two bar staff seemed overwhelmed and had no idea how to deal with the queue in any sort of fair order, so we just gave up buying drinks (even though they had a great selection at very fair prices by London standards). The shower area was very clean but was designed so that all the water drained into the middle of the room, making it almost impossible to leave without getting your feet soaked and trapse wet footprints back to your room. Our room was at the opposite end of the floor to the shower room, meaning you had to pass the staircase/lift area where people are always coming and going - slightly awkward if you're only wearing a towel!
