Having served in the Army a couple of miles away it made the perfect location to return and reflect on old times. The staff made us feel very welcome, and although some revues were very critical we had no complaints at all. The food was excellent and so was the atmosphere in both bars. Having had one sherry more than usual wasn't able to make breakfast which says the bed was comfortable enough for a lie in. The shower was a great tonic to wake up to. Plenty of parking made it a nice experience as so many places now charge to bring a car. For those expecting 5* luxury in a 3* establishment need to wake up a little. This is a traditional hotel with great values, professional staff and welcoming charm that will bring me back again soon hopefully. Added bonus to staying here in the winter is the open fires fantastic. Will definitely recommend The George to friends who want to visit Wiltshire and of course the proximity to Stonehenge. A real English treasure. Thank you!!! As an alternative to the whiners of the world. The room was too clean the bed too comfortable, the staff too helpful the food to tasty and filling, the beer too tempting the atmosphere too warm and the proximity to all that we needed too close. I hope this helps the people who look at revues to decide to take a chance and enjoy everything The George has to offer!!! Great stay in a truly great hotel thank you again.

The room was lovely - somewhat old-fashioned in a charming way (four poster bed!), very big - a big double bed, a loveseat, chair, wardrobe and plenty of extra room to move about, and very comfy pillows. I was particularly impressed by how clean the bathroom was - spotless with a big tub that was perfect to soak in after a long walk in the countryside. The entry-way is dirty (stairs definitely need cleaning), and can sometimes be a bit hard to track someone down to check in or check out. But don't let this put you off - the rooms were great and the staff was very friendly.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Can be extremely noisy in the morning if the pub receives a delivery. The restaurant was not very clean and there were flies around the buffet breakfast.

We found the hotel to be clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Ideally located for what we wanted. We will stay there again if we are in that part of the country. Parking was excellent and plenty of it.

The Hotel was in a lovely location, close to all the places we wished to visit. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. Room was lovely and had all the amenities we required. Unfortunately some of the 'locals' were very noisy and extremely vocal when leaving the bar next door in the early hours so this did disturb our night. This was not the fault of the Hotel. It would not put me off staying there again.

I can't say enough about the owners and staff of the George Hotel... They truly are wonderful. They took the time to look up and print us out directions (straight to where we wanted to go and even a scenic route with stops along the way) and even packed us a lunch to go for our roadtrip. It felt like we knew them for years and they treated us like friends and not just guests at the hotel. The bar attached to the hotel is great... We had so much fun! Small quaint town in the English Countryside. This hotel had so much character and charm... We loved our stay at the George Hotel and would highly recommend!

Great hotel -the room was comfortable, everything worked, the meals were cheap and delicious. It's less than an hour walk to Stonehenge, in a pretty quiet little town. The staff were friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay in this attractive friendly hotel. The room was very hot and we could not turn down the heater. The staff were very responsive in trying to fix this.

It's an intersting old hotel. The staff was nice. It was pretty filthy. Everything in the room was dirty--even my teacup was unclean!--on top of being really old (carpet, fixtures, etc), the whole thing had a very dingy feel.

A nice traditional style pub and hotel, with original features. Ample parking and access to local shops and facilities. Located close to major routes. My main grievence would be the food and service. The menu claims that food is locally sourced, the local frozen food suppliers maybe. It seemed to me that the food was pre-prepared, from a packet maybe, tastless and bland. I have experienced this in other major chain pubs, and therefore seriously over priced. The food arrived within about 10 minutes, and extremely hot, indicating to me that it had come straight from the microwave. The breakfast was minimal, and not particularly well cooked. Service although polite, was not very proffesional and staff appearance poor. I will tick the yes box to recommend this hotel, purely on location, it's rustic charm, ok for overnight stay, business/trade etc, but not family holiday, and definately not the food. Eat out.

Food was Ok. Would never book that Hotel again!!! Laud Music from the Bar up to two o'clock in the morning. Unable to sleep. Staff claimed that this is my mistake if booking that hotel on weekends. But there is no hint on your web-side. Also the description to the Hotel claims free wifi. This is not the case!!! The bad was dirty with feet-nails on the ground! Condition of room was poor!

My visit was only 1 night, the room and Services/facilities were okay for my needs. The location of the hotel is good for the local area and the tourist attrachions (even if the road works made it challenge to find StoneHenge). Staff were friendly and helpful.

Staff were pleasant service was quite good. well located in the centre of Amesbury with its own car park. Very east to get to. Carpet had not seen a vacuum for some time, the edges were thick with dust. As was the kettle, Which we had to wash before we dared to use it. Not to my mind a 3 star place.

Checking out - couldn't wait to leave The service was nill. The manager/owner was surley and most unhelpful. The bath was rusty and overall the hotel was poor value. We were looking for an overnight stay on route to Somerset and couldn't have picked a worse place. Pity because it looked really nice on your website.
