The room was very comfortable and had everything that i required The room was surprisingly peaceful considering it overlooked the main road The meal that i had in the evening was excellent and good value for money The location of the hotel is ideal for going to places within Oxfordshire
I felt that a number of the staff were very dour and gave the impression that they were doing the tasks required because they had to not because they wanted to
Very friendly helpful staff. Excellent value for money. Evening meal exquisite. The atmosphere & the quirky building that has been added to over the centuries made for a most memorable week end.
Location was good.Generally clean room. Free wifi.
There was a bell or clock that went off every hour it was not possible to get a good night sleep. Then there was the issue of very noisy wooden bed and thin walls..could here the guest in the next room snoring. Coffee mug was stained looked dirty.
Room didn't have a proper shower Room was dirty and shabby Lights didn't work Wifi was really slow Overpriced
Really nice friendly, oldie worldy coach house! Good food, great attentive staff and an owner that never seemed to have a break!! Great little rooms in the grounds with ample parking! Although some negatives- I would stay again!
Room and bathroom let down by poor cleaning regime! Huge cobwebs everywhere, skirting boards have never been touched by a duster and bath had a few rogue hairs on show! The mould on windowsill could be forgiven due to it being a listed building and trying to get a ventilation system in there is difficult- but the remainder is basic!
spacious room comty bed
noise at closing time breakfast-food only just warm
The olde worlde charm and late booking in time.
Not clean, the phone was broken, breakfast was too late to be of any use to travellers needing to be off and out early and the noise from pub drinkers on the street outside was an annoyance.
everything steeped in history...quaint...and a jolly good breakfast!
ensuite shower room dirty - mouldy ceiling with damaged plaster. Squashed dead spider on tiles. Basically the place could have been good and didn't need major refurb - just somebody who cleaned it properly
the location was 3 miles from job we were working on. eat at restaurant 1 night and food was good
1 of the 2 rooms booked could have done to be cleaned better, lots of dust on furniture
Dorchester-on-Thames Abbey across the road from the George (a beautiful old coaching inn), serving afternoon cream-tea in the open air by the Abbey Museum, where I met old friends, by accident, from nearby Burcot. An English idyll!
The salmon steak, merely ok, - too far from the sea, I should have known.
This is a quirky pub/hotel in a small attractive village close to the Thames Path. the ambience was excellent in the bar where we had our evening meal and the food and beer were really good. the breakfast next day was also good although the legs fell off a chair ( before we sat down! ) all part of the experience. We would be happy to stay here again certainly.
Friendly locals and character of building
Breakfast table not cleared each course so left with table of dirty crockery No milk in room on 1st night resulting in going downstairs in night clothes to get milk for hot drink early morning No butter on breakfast table one day, no dessert bowls on another Breakfast not till 8.30 at weekends Staff could be more attentive e.g. if delivering cooked breakfast, staff could take dirty crockery back to kitchen rather than returning empty handed
The Sunday lunch and breakfast were lovely the evening meals looked good but we were to full from lunch to eat another meal our room was opposite the church and was in keeping with the coach house although I thought it could of been a little cleaner the carpet was marked and the bathroom floor around the edges a bit dusty but in saying that I would stay again, There are some lovely walks and plenty to see in area
The hotel is a characterful old property set in a picturesque location. Staff are generally pleasant.
Fixtures are tired with mattresses due a replacement. Level of cleanliness was poor for a hotel (hairs in basin and bath, carpet not vacuumed). Be aware that the church bells chime every quarter hour through the night. If you can try to avoid the rooms above the kitchens and above the outside smoking area.
The staff were very helpful and friendly. They went out of their way to make your stay brilliant.
Wifi could be better.
All the facilities I needed plus free wifi. Great food in the restaurant and bar in pub. One of the best meals I've had in a long time.
very small room with limited access to shower due to fitting so much into small bathroom. Wouldn't suit a larger person who would fit through the shower door. A bit close to where the staff smoke at the back.
We liked the convenient location to Le Manoir where we were meeting friends for a celebration lunch
Nothing to dislike
Quaint, nice breakfast, lovely looking village. Rooms were clean, nice pub and fair wine for dinner. Dinner was good value. If you are on holiday or on leisure travel then this is a great place to unwind. I changed my booking and checked out a day early and the proprietor gave me a refund even though he did not need to.
As a business overflow from Oxford/Milton park this is only OK if you have a car and don't need to work in the evening. There is very poor mobile phone signal and the wifi is unreliable. As I usually travel by rail and bus I had to wait over an hour in the morning for a taxi - book ahead if you know you will need it.
Good stopping point for walking along the Thames River path. Pleasant village in good location for visiting Oxford.
Buses very infrequent so unable to use them as we had planned.
location and friendly and helpful staff
The Oldness of the building and set in such a pretty village location.
Groups of drunk smokers gathered late at night under the main arch to the hotel were very load at night time. Also if I wanted to open my rooms windows the smell of the smoke was awful.
Had a good stay for a number of days. Staff polite helpful and very welcoming. Wifi worked well. All in all a lot better that some of the negative reviews I read. Would come again.
Rooms, pub, food, staff.
Window frames needed cleaning. Church bells were audible (but ear plugs provided if wanted)
This was a really pleasant location, in a quaint village with many period cottages and surrounded by quintessential English countryside. The coaching inn itself was ideal for us as elderly travellers. Beds were extremely comfortable and all expected facilities provided. The breakfasts and evening meals were really excellent and the staff were all delightful and very helpful.
