Excellent location in beautiful village. Room full of character and charm. Parking is easy and plentiful. Popular bar with good atmosphere. Nice walks. The room I stayed in was at the front of the Hotel and the bells from the Abbey ring throughout the night on the hour etc. It didn't cause me too much of a problem as it's a small price to pay for such a lovely place but if you're a light sleeper??

Convenient location for a short break. Enjoyed a lunch prepared well and plentiful. The room we were given was very noisy in the late evening as it was directly over the outdoor seating area. No flexibility on the food menu when I asked if they made toasted sandwiches I was told no they didn'T.

Lovely location on main street in picturesque village. Fab spacious room, beamed and with four poster bed. Lively bar popular with the locals.Close to Oxford with a park and ride facility quite near. Poor service at breakfast on the first morning of our stay, too many issues to mention, plus cooked breakfast was only warm.Second morning was greatly improved~everything lovely.

Staff extremely polite and helpfull. Evening meals disappointing because of "no salmon". Understand that there was a problem which was out of the hotels control.

A late booking earlier that morning appeared to cause confusion but after that an enjoyable stay. The hotel has a lot of character and the inn has been used as a setting for a number of episodes of Midsomer Murders. Breakfast was ample and good quality as was the evening meal. There is a beam-bedecked restaurant at the back serving an a la carte menu. The bar menu is more reasonable in price but no less tasty. I’d recommend the ‘horseradish-infused mash.’ There is also a good selection of well kept real ales. On my second day I had to move because alterations were being made to the annexe. If you get the chance opt for the rooms in the main building. The annexe is cosy and more modern but lacks the views and atmosphere of the suites in the main hotel. Throughout the bar staff were professional and polite and the locals in the bar welcoming.
