Easy access to where I was playing golf and easy to get to from Oxford The bird noise (particularly from the rooks) was very loud from around 4.45am until I left at 6.45 I booked breakfast but couldn't take it as it wasn't served until 7am. A real shame as the food the previous evening was great.

Food was poor, no atmosphere at all in this hotel, asked for directions to a location-was told by staff it would take at least an hour to drive, we got there in 14 mins-local knowledge by local staff was non existant.

We stayed here due to the location as had a lunch booked at the La Manior. We had a large room overlooking the Abbey which was really lovely with exposed beams in the main building. The character of the hotel is the main highlight but the rooms are a little tierd. The staff are very helpful and accommodating. Sunday morning the breakfast was a hot buffet and Monday we ordered at the table and the food was good. The bar is used by the locals and the happy hour in the bar in the evenings until 7pm looks to be the only one on offer in the village. A great stop for a weekend away and exploring the local area and would stay again.

I liked the pictures that i have seen on www.booking.com before i booked but when we go there it wasn't really as i imagined. The rooms need a deep cleaning and redecorating. Our bathroom was disgusting(dead flies, everything was dirty sink, bath, tiles, toilet, spider traps, maintenance issues, when we got there the tv was not working, tried to ring the reception, realise the phone is not working, i don't know why they are in the rooms) We found in the draws things left behind from previous guests i think, bags of crisps, flyers etc - housekeepers never bothered to clean or even look in there Food was average, we enjoyed the starter but the main was a disaster, left it on the plate, waitress didn't even ask if it was something wrong, she just cleared the plates. Service not to friendly, i haven't seen to many smiley faces around , even the manager was grumpy. Breakfast was ok, apart from the fact that my fiancée ask for tomatoes with her breakfast but never came.

We were making a bike ride - Oxford - London and the location close to the Thames was ideal Breakfast was very good, plenty, well cooked and hot Breakfast room was very good Our room was above the bar and noisy until 12.30 on a Monday, room was also opposite the Abbey in Dorchester on Thames - bells every haf hour all night, neither point was mentioned when we checked in - wonder why - annoying as there were clearly other room available away from both. Bath room grubby with mould and shower not great Manager not the friendliest

Good location, quiet, interesting village. There was plenty of parking space available. The hotel had, on the surface, a lot of character. The room was quite small and, although the room had a shower, as booked, it was an attachment to the bath which, because of the sloping roof, had nowhere to attach it to so had to be hand-held. There were holes in the net curtains. Staff were polite but not overly welcoming. Dinner was fine although the staff appeared rushed. The full English breakfast was good (especially the sausages!) but I asked for coffee and was served tea in a coffee pot. When I pointed out the error I was simply told "the coffee is on the side rtable".

The location was excellent with good free parking facilities and all the local sights were in easy walking distance. A generously sized room with comfortable bed and a large modern TV. Complimentary Wi-Fi in the hotel was a bonus. All the staff were very courteous and professional. A nice vintage coaching inn which has not been over-modernised, although some aspects could do with an update (see below). A reasonable range of breakfast options. The decor and furnishings in our bathroom badly needed an update - paint was peeling from the tiles and the bath had seen better days. The view from our window was of a very unkempt service yard behind the inn, although the rooftops above this were very picturesque, so it all evens out!

We were in a beautiful room in a half timbered coaching house facing the entrance to Dorchester Abbey. A Premier Inn "box room" would have cost much the same.

It was wonderful to spend the night in an olde room...plenty of character and very pleasant. the bells from the abbey across the road were somewhat unwelcome and the plumbing seemed to struggle to supply water but otherwise we would definately return
