Pleasant staff who cared without being too attentive. Good hot and powerful shower Pleasantly surprised that even with a wedding reception there was no excessive noise leakage and disturbance
The staff were so helpful as I am disabled. They took very good care of me and my husband. And the breakfast was great. We will stay there again.
Unfortunately the chairlift was not working properly, and it stopped half way up the stairs. The receptionist help me the rest of the way.
The couple in the bedroom Next to ours kept us awake Making love , the headboard was banging & she was screaming
The bedroom facilities, the location of the hotel, the staff were friendly and everything was as I expected
Some money is going to have to be spent to upgrade the inside and outside of the buildings and inside furnishings
The fact that they are at a good location, pet friendly, the staff was friendly and they do have a good breakfast.
I imagine this was once a very nice upscale hotel however it now appears to be just a rundown building with room to rent. Our room was dirty and the toilet didn't work so we were moved to another room where the heater didn't work so we were provided a small electric heater. There is no elevator which sucks if you have to carry bags to the top floor where there are winding narrow uneven hallways.
the central location pleasant staff atmosphere of historic building
poor room lighting ineffective radiator controls
Friendly efficient staff
No hot water or electricity, therefore no showers or breakfast, due to a power cut. No refund available upon request, still awaiting confirmation as to whether one will be issued.
Plumbing not very good. Water in the bath from shower took half an hour to drain away each time. Unfortunately, we did not have a cooked breakfast or toast etc. due to power cut.
Location / good size room / clean / excellent breakfast / good price
Room rather dated / needed freshening up / old noisy windows
Loved the old building. Food choice & quality was excellent. Comfortable room.
As other reviewers have commented the hotel is in need of some tlc. The corridor outside our room was very damp.
Centre of town with good (free) car parking. Friendly staff who gave good service. Excellent breakfast and good in room tea, coffee etc. Busy bar area but lots of quite comfortable places/rooms to sit. For its price excellent value for our two night stay.
Do not rely on satnav to locate it, need a detail town map/location. Be aware of the one way ring road system in the centre of town, you might easily miss the car park/hotel entrance.
Lovely big room which was a huge plus
Decor getting a bit tired
Friendly staff. Relaxed atmosphere . Nice breakfast . Have already booked again!!
Decor is dated and needed dusting. Webs on chandelier .
clean room, friendly staff, great breakfast and good value for money
rooms are a little tired but its an old building with lots of character
Loved the hotel absolutely lovely needs updating windowsills etc rotting but it is a lovely place
Very good courteous service Rhiannon.
Very small bathroom and musty smell in corridors.
staff were very friendly
could do with a remake
Staff were very helpful and understanding
It's an old hotel with a musty smell and aging fixtures and fittings.
Nice selection of breakfast dishes.
The whole place looked very tired and in need of a facelift and a coat of paint. Wallpaper hanging from walls, paintwork very shabby in rooms and corridors. Could so easily be a lovely place to stay. If you don't want to be woken up at 5.45 by the noise of the fan in the kitchen don't book (superior) room 4.
Convenient to venue we were attending.
Some noise from revellers inthe street outside but soon went.
Excellent friendly staff
To be fussy a better guest real ale
Very good hotel
To many stairs
A comfortable pub hotel and you could get meals up to 10pm
Location although central its difficult to find in the one way system, wifi although free you have to sign up to receiving stacks of promotions.
The George is a 1600 year old Hotel and is located perfectly on the corner of George Street and High Street. It's in the middle of Huntingdon and has a really nice bar, lounge and and restaurant attached and has a free breakfast menu included.
Drunk people from the pub tend to wander into the courtyard or down High Street and make a lot of noise. It will wake light sleepers up which can be annoying if you need to be up early.
Wonderful old building, with a quadrangle layout. Excellent wine. A privilege to have stayed there.
